I'm STILL having problems with incorrect bet stakes being placed on the new system - Betfair Community Manager 2 is there any chance you could inquire as what is being done to sort this issue out?

Betfair contacted me about six weeks ago to discuss the matter, but nothing has changed.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm on about or who would like to have a laugh at how terrible the new system is, watch the video linked to below. It's a joke.

http://screencast.com/t/0C51YjSE

(In the video 2 bets are placed incorrectly by the system, one correctly. The final bet is the most worrying - it supposedly allows me to exceed my account balance in exposure)

Excellent work TP and thanks.  If ordering of matched and unmatched is fixed then I reckon I could use the new site (with sunglasses).

No problem.  I need the ordering and favourites to be fixed, the rest I can live with (although not some of the more serious issues such as incorrect bet placement that others have experienced).

s.c.o.m- top right in the new site is a little 'wheel'- click on that and check the box  'Hide the Instant Games module' and you should get rid of some of the adverts

Taken from site feedback, hopefully the posters concerned wont mind.

This is what makes me very wary of using the new site........

laughingmike 16 Nov 12 21:28
Several times tonight I have cancelled greyhound bets only to find that the system has created 2 identical bets and I've had to "cancel all bets" to make sure I don't get matched 3 times!!!

laughingmike 16 Nov 12 21:31
Also getting the "The following bets could not be placed" "This may be a temporary problem. Please wait and try again." messages several times this evening.

The site is so unreliable and unstable!!!!!

YOMOMMA 16 Nov 12 23:48

Happened to me, I cancelled a bet and the website created 50 identical bets. I also get error messages like that that never go away. They've turned my enjoyable job in to a complete pain.

layer1982 21 Nov 12 14:55
were u using the new site by any chance? Just unbearable...

YOMOMMA 21 Nov 12 18:08
Yes on the new site and it wasn't just a one off, it happened twice more at the weekend. I had to log out and then log back in, in order to cancel them. Some people are in for a nasty shock if it happens in play. I won't be touching in play.

Yep, YOMOMMA mentioned it on this thread on the 14th. I'm not sure what would be worse for Betfair: mothballing the new site until it works or having customers lose money as a result of this (or any other) glitch and going to the press.

One more (and last for a while) update.

As has been mentioned on here, the old site will be switched off at some point. I've had it conformed that will be whenever Betfair are "satisfied that the new site is performing at a level the majority of our existing customers will see as a positive experience."  There is no date at present.

They will be giving us four weeks notice before closing the old site.

Of course, not all of us will ever see the new site as positive but we'll just have to adapt to begin with whilst continuing to give our feedback to Betfair.

Well i've yet to see anyone post in favour of the 'new' site so hopefully this will be years!

and yet in TP's earlier feedback they report ''  In Sept, 50% of users used the new site and it's now up to 80%.''

80%......really??

Anyway, thanks for all the updates TP, much appreciated.
By:

No problem.

The 80% figure doesn't surprise me as many issues only affect those of us who place lots of bets.

In an ideal world, Betfair will release a 'Betfair lite' version for those of us who don't want the bells and whistles but also aren't too keen on using a third-party API.

The comment that 80% used the new site is misleading, i would think 80% of people have used it at some point i wonder what % went back to the old site straight away. . .
By:
TheInvestor2

I don't really get why Betfair have released the new site. Clearly it is still what most would call 'beta', full of bugs.

It will be a massive improvement when it all works properly, but until then, it's useless.
By:

80% of ppl are using the new site they say?!? but i guess only 3% of the money is placed with the new site, as anyone who trades serious amounts uses the old site or API.

If they were going to fix it up it would've been done by now. The site has been live for what 6 months? I think it will be a bit crap forever. I'm out of here. Tongue Out
By:

When: 23 Nov 12 17:37
As for the 80% figure....

During some premium charge discussions betfair defined an "active user" as someone who had placed at least one bet during the specified period.

You would need to know how betfair defined "used" before any % would have any meaning.

Touch and go as we close the year on which site has provided the worst internet experience of the year:

Still leading the way and unlikely to be headed is the London2012 site, with BF holding in second.  Coming up quickly to nick the bronze medal is oddschecker.  Another of the "new and improved" variety which in common with many sites these days upgrades for upgrades sake and takes several steps back in the process.

I'd be surprised if many small stake punters are still using Betfair.
Their £5 to watch a race is only £2 with the competition, and whenever I've been over there I've been able to watch the action even if I haven't had a bet.

can betfair not have both the old and new running side by side  ?   is the cost prohibitive ?

it would make better business sense ,atleast for now surely ?

there are aspects of both the new and old i love,so it would be a winner with me

even if it just meant opening the site for in play racing, high profile football matches ,races and tennis  and rugby finals etc - would only have to be up and running for around 30 hours a week

Keeping anything running whether car of software realistically needs a bit of work but given new site is apparently a bugfest and the old one is relatively bug free it's hardly a great excuse to ditch the old one from the user point of view. The problem I'm sure will occur when some marketing/management guy is pushing the next arcade flashing cr*p (or whatever) nobody wants to be added and they either justify doing some of the work twice to add to two sites or do it once and he questions why people won't see the new shiny thing on the old site. Or if they change some of the way the stuff works and again have to change the sites twice. Management won't like keeping duplicate products running forever, even if for us the user it's the best thing.

Then again they can't go willy nilly changing the way stuff works too much otherwise all the API apps would stop working so I'm guessing that's not going to happen in a hurry, so the users could valildly ask why they don't keep the old one up and do the odd essential fix if required.

Given the love of the old site and the hate of the new one you have to hope they use common sense!

As far as I'm concerned, fix the page loading issue (which wasn't an issue at all today, which makes me wonder what on earth is causing it) and sort out 'My Markets' (customise markets never worked and you can't add Aussie mkts by clikcingon the +) and the old site would be basically perfect.

All I want is a simple site that is easy and quick to use.

I guess there's an outside chance that at some point there will be a 'Betfair Lite' in addition to the new site, but even that would be some way off.

Whilst they acknowledge there are issues with the new site, they believe that for many of us it's an aversion to change that's the problem, and this is something they can't fix.

All - here's an update I've received today on some of the common problems that we have been working on. As ever, please let us know if we what say here is not proving the case, and I'll take that feedback to the relevant people. Thanks all:

We have now fixed the issue on handicap markets where we were not showing P&L on the market correctly. P&L will now show the position against each runner on handicap markets as they are all independent positions.

Here a list of the significant betslip fixes that have been deployed:

1.    The duplicate bets issue where customer marks a bet for deletion on Open Bets, clicks update, gets an empty receipt, and then every time they click continue they get a duplicate bet.
2.    Incorrect stakes being entered, i.e. customer types ‘100’ very quickly and only ‘10’ appears in the stake box. (An issue for customers using keyboard quickly to submit bets.)
3.    Bets not being submitted if ‘Place Bets’ button is clicked before the betslip has finished calculating the profit value for the stake entered. (An issue for customers using keyboard quickly to submit bets.)
4.    Unable to modify the odds for a BSP odds limit bet in Open Bets.
5.    Betslip gets stuck in a loop after customer attempts to modify/cancel a  bet that has lapsed or matched in the background. The error message below is displayed. When you click continue you get the same message.

BCM 2 - Thanks for the update. That incorrect stakes fix is a big one for me. Just tested it - working fine now with all browsers. The new site is getting there; still a way to go, but getting there.

Bcm2-- is there any feedback on the opening post by templeton peck.  Items 2 and 4 referring to order of unmatched and matched bets are fundamental.  These questions have been around a very long time and I get the impression that there is no intension to fix them.

An issue I had recently involved a 'ghost' selection on my betting slip.

I was placing a series of bets on football matches. I placed a bet and moved on to the next one, and so on, seven times.

Without my noticing, the first selection was being repeated along with each subsequent bet *without appearing on the betting slip*. So when I clicked to place the one bet on the slip it was placing two bets each time, a bug that cost me £28.

I contacted support about this and got a reply (from someone who called me Iva, even though my name is Dan) saying that there was no error and that I fully intended to place the same bet seven times, so tough luck to me. I challenged this but all of my subsequent emails have been ignored.

I've posted this on the thread covering the switch-off of the old site but thought it worth posting here:

I've had a chat with Betfair and they say there are no plans to turn the site off on 31st January.

I've also had it confirmed that we will be given plenty of notice.  I was also told for the first time that it won't be a dramatic switch off but a gradual closing down of the site.

Thanks to our feedback, the ordering of bets on the new site is being looked into, but - and I know many of you will not be happy with this - they're about to switch on another new big product and so their developers are pushed for time at the moment.

I don't know if I've mentioned it on this thread, but if you don't want to see bets from other markets when switching to another market, click on "This market only" at the top of the bet slip.  The bet slip will then only show bets from the market you're looking at.

And just to confirm, no date has been set for the shut-down.  They're not going to close the old site until they're happy the new site works as customers need it to.  No date has been set.  So don't stop with the feedback through the suitable channels (i.e. don't just whinge on here).  Just because you're not seeing an instantaneous response/fix doesn't mean you're being ignored.
