should be interesting, probably wont be, if the correct questions are asked. This affects everyone whatever sport they bet on.

Most likely end up being a free advert for Betfair. Can't see any Matt Chapman asking any probing questions.
Report yeahyeahwhatever • December 29, 2011 3:36 PM GMT
well, he's asked for questions... so perhaps there will be some valid ones in there.
Report Ghetto Joe • December 29, 2011 3:43 PM GMT
We can but hope, yeahyeah. Let's hope the don't use all the ones from xxxxx@betfair.com Whoops
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 3:59 PM GMT
just watching, cant see it will be anything really. Already talking about laymans terms and viewers not understanding what betfair is? ffs its a channel dedicated to betting isnt it?
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:08 PM GMT
shouldn't have appeared on this program without knowing the full explanation.
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:08 PM GMT
Q. how did it happen?

A. Somehow someone exceeded their exposure limit.

Good job this guy is doing
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:09 PM GMT
this is clueless PR. Cry
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:09 PM GMT
stop digging!
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:11 PM GMT
questioner is doing ok imo, just answers are shyte
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:12 PM GMT
jesus this guy is so evasive, would be pulled walking through the airport for outstanding shifty-ness
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:13 PM GMT
increasingly suspicious that the bet was a HTTP screenscrape dodging website validation.

lovely person to blame, open and shut case.

this just fuels rumours.
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:14 PM GMT
why not just give the guys exposure limit, or ball park figure hundreds thousands etc
Report Ghetto Joe • December 29, 2011 4:16 PM GMT
Lol is he actually going to give a direct answer to any question
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:16 PM GMT
not answering simple exposure question will fuel rumours that its a high roller etc
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:16 PM GMT
hes awful Cry
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:17 PM GMT
he can't give a direct answer because he doesn't have all the information.

there is no pressing urgency on this. it's something that can easily wait 24 hours with a statement now announcing that a full statement and explanation will be given in 24 hours time.
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:18 PM GMT
technicalogical failure

Grin
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:19 PM GMT
hes put himself up now for Q & A now though Confused
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:20 PM GMT
I havent been fully briefed Cry

He must know if it was via API of web, shirley?
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:20 PM GMT
i think he's doing very well given the decision to come on here with next to no information.
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:23 PM GMT
i think he's doing very well given the decision to come on here with next to no information

Its poor decision to come on without even 1 piece of information that is new. and try and field Q & As from public. Just looks silly
Report Ghetto Joe • December 29, 2011 4:24 PM GMT
Ds, he's had over a day to look into this do you really think he's that little info as their main PR.
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:26 PM GMT
why would the cross matching bot have an exposure limit?

he has no idea what it's talking about.

the whole point of cross matching is that it never had any exposure, and it's not a bot per se anyway. it's part of a matching algorithm.
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:27 PM GMT
trys not to read betfair forum.

Nice one for all the developer and moderators hard work Plain
Report Bayes. • December 29, 2011 4:27 PM GMT
Lol - no idea at all
Report Ghetto Joe • December 29, 2011 4:27 PM GMT
The x matcher has a limit to protect it from situations where a late NR's reduction factor isn't in line with it's price DS
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:28 PM GMT
cross matcher limit, yeah it stops making money around 21m per market when the bucket is full
Report Bayes. • December 29, 2011 4:28 PM GMT
commercially sensitive = I don't understand it
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:28 PM GMT
ah ha. apologies. of course, i stand corrected. naturally it won't on the cricket and tennis.
Report DStyle • December 29, 2011 4:29 PM GMT
in fact, any market which doesn't have runners removed
Report Ghetto Joe • December 29, 2011 4:32 PM GMT
How many times can he state "unique set of circumstances" to answer every question and excuse this mess?
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 4:32 PM GMT
he doesnt have a clue is what i am taking away from that.
Report buzzer • December 29, 2011 4:33 PM GMT
and if something totally distorts the market the x matching bot keeps the in running market at nigh on 100% so their bot is fundamentally flawed and yet yesterday the site remained up with the x matching bet running a minute later. This 'glitch' was noticeable instantly 'an obvious error' according to betfair the money was up early on in the race, after 2 hurdles, yet the race remained in running but if they're late putting the race in play they often suspend for the entire race!
Report CLYDEBANK29 • December 29, 2011 6:14 PM GMT
Did anybody actually ask how they would've settled the race had the horse lost or was it "a bet to nothing"?
Report brendanuk1 • December 29, 2011 6:25 PM GMT
yes he said it would have been voided if it won or lost
