I noticed as well that the bigger winners you had here by backing horses came in maiden races, the kind of races where you were taking biggish hits when laying in your last challenge, perhaps this is something you could look to exploit, these races can often throw up some big priced winners with the ability of all the runners not yet known.
As for the Rugby tomorrow/today i have no idea, but pretty sure ill be cheering for SA, sorry , if you think you might score a couple of late tries why not hold back some of your stake and look to get involved at a later stage with bigger odds (although im not sure what the liquidity is like on the side Rugby markets so may not be worth the trouble).A horse i like tomorrow is Sohcahtoa stepping up to 2m in the first at Goodwood, good luck if you back. Anyways, really enjoying the thread again so thanks for continuing to post, ill try not to bother you too much  , but i do find it useful reading, and often brings about some interesting discussions, and makes me question my approach, so feel like i would like to contribute every so often.Coolhand  |

Very nicely played today (well, yesterday now!) Undern.
I try and do a bit of both laying and backing (albeit backing in the place market only). The two do need very different approaches though, so I have to try and separate them as much as possible. Laying is great for decent periods, since you frequently get a string of winning bets. However, the fact that one lay going wrong can (in my case) undo a day or two of hard work makes for some difficult moments trying not to chase... But I do like having an entire field bar one racing for me. It's surprising how often my lay gets beaten only by a total no-hoper I'd never have wished to risk a cent on.. And I think that once you start laying, you begin to realise just how difficult it is to back a winner. So many things can go wrong. |

Sohcahtoa finished a very well backed 2nd, winner had first run but he finished strongly, a clearer run and positioned closer to the pace he may well have got even closer and possibly finished on top. If you backed him i hope you went EW. Good luck today Undern, Coolhand |

paulme, you would still need to set the bots parametres. If you're losing without a bot now. You'll just lose faster and automatically with a bot.

Won't be able to update till tomorrow morning early .. but won't be around tomorrow during the day.
Bank around the £2740 mark - still have a smallish football bet and lay of 6-0 score to Taylor in the darts ... Pleasingly the system selections made similiar amount to yesterday (around the £150 mark) ... however rather than simply leave the bot to run on its own thought I could add to the profit ... was up near the £3100 mark then lost £150 ... twice in quick succession and then stupidly lost a bigger bet to then try and get back a bit ... So very happy with the 'system' horse and greyhound lays but got to learn to not rush the bank along ... was definitely going well then pushed too hard .. perhaps tiredness. |

Mmmm as I alluded to last night .... very pleased with my 'system' greyhound and horse racing selections which made around the £153 profit mark and all was well with lets just say the 'human' element but lost someone in quick succession and next minute got hit relatively big which basically reversed the good day I was having ..will be out today so will set up Bot and let it run ...

Paul. Trust me, don't bother thinking about bots! The bot doesn't come with a ready-made 'winning strategy' - well, apart from off-the-shelf bots designed to extract an up-front payment from you and then lose your money as steadily as any tipping service.
Bots are a good way of carrying out well-conceived strategies that are either too tedious or require too much speed to be done manually. Alternatively, if your main strategy is good, but you fear by sitting at your computer you'll find yourself being lured into making other less good bets as well, then they make sense - you can set the bot to work on your main strategy and then just come back later and see how things went. However - and I think we can all agree on this - you do not have a winning strategy, or anything that even remotely approaches it. Indeed, you don't even really have a strategy! Therefore, a bot is going to be a non-starter for you... |

Well I spent most of the day away from the computer so as you could have seen from my earlier posts. I was up early - played a little bit, plugged the horse and greyhound system lays into the Bot and set off for the day. Not many greyhound lays today though.
Really pleased with the nice increase today. The bot selections made in total £190. In actual fact it went a 100% with 7/7. Also of interest I had 7 other lays set up but they didn't get matched simply because they were outside the odds I have set them up with. Of those 6 would have done well and 1 (a horse lay) would have lost around 3pts or so. I actually had set up in one horse race 3 lay selections - all top of the market. One only got matched while the other two were either under or over the odds I am looking to lay at. Guess what they all lost ... very tempted to alter the odds restrictions but I am sure it will bite me when I least expect it if I did ... So in the 1st week that this challenge has been running the bank has increased by 20% so pleased with that especially after dropping way below the starting bank only after a few days. I have upped the stakes on the bot (as you could probably tell) ... just simply trying to work out what the right % of the bank is neither too conservative nor too dangerous ... In the morning - you see I play some of the Aussie racing (mainly while I do some work or check the race cards). With these I am simply trying to work with betting patterns and odds movements and perhaps the small bit of information I read beforehand .... cheers. |
