@ paulme, yeah staking wildly is normally a problem for me too. Also going to Lay two teams for tomorrow now as Im a little worried the price might change.

23/09/11

Bet no.18 Lay Leeds @ 3.7 for £10 liability £27

24/09/11

Bet no.19 Lay Scunny @ 1.79 for £5 liability £3.95
Bet no.20 Lay Millwall @ 3.1 for £10 liability £21

I will be back tomorrow with possibly more bets and a bit of an in-depth review of my thinking. I will be on the computer for the next half an hour or so. Any questions, please ask. Thank you.

Bet no.21 Lay Newcastle @ 1.94 for £5 liability £4.70

Hi chaps, yes last night Brighton did the trick. I thought it was all over at 2 nil but they played superb second half in what was a cracking game. On to today. I just feel the price on Newcastle is a little short. Yes they've started the season well but in all honesty the league table doesn't really tell the truth with them. QPR should of beaten them 4 or 5 nil in all honesty. Newcastle struggle scoring goals and although i do think they are better than Blackburn i cannot agree that they are miles better hence the wrong price.

Scunthorpe at home to Yeovil, Scunny @ 1.79 to lay and Yeovil @ 5.1 again i think is priced up massively wrong. Although Yeovil aren't a great side they were excellent against PNE and Phil Brown commented that they looked a very good side. Scunny are 21st in the league and haven't won a game this season in 9. Yeovil have only won 2 games but are a vastly improving side.

Derby County at home to Millwall. Massively suprised by the drift on Derby today as i thought the price would shorten. Derby have won 5 out of 7 including there excellent ten man away win at Forest and are brimming with confidence. Millwall on the other hand sit in 16th, won 1 in 7 league games and they were absolutely battered by Birmingham.

Have a good day lads. Thank you Happy

Weeks 2 & 3 - Results and Summary

We started on the 12th laying QPR at home to Newcastle @ 2.5. I watched the game and in all honesty QPR should of won comfortably. If Bothroyd could finish i would of lost money, lol. QPR will pick up and get a few wins in the next month or so as Warnock has signed well, they just need time to gel. I then laid PNE away at Charlton and Preston won 2 nil, i probably should of left it as it was a carling cup game but its easy saying that now. Next up was Genk at home to Villarreal and i got a bit lucky with this. After watching highlights Genk had a few chances to win it but thankfully they didn't.
Possible lays of Oldham, Sheff United, Dortmund and Droylsden would of made a slight profit if i had layed them.

On the 14th i laid Benfica at home to Man United @ 3.8 and i laid Villarreal at home against Bayern Munich @ 4.2. Bayern were far to strong to a struggling Villarreal side and Giggs rescued me in the United match as Benfica deserved to win. All hail Ryan Giggs.

The 17th started terribly with a lay of Blackburn at home against Arsenal. I watched the game and Arsenal should not of lost that match. They did though and it cost me money. All over the shop at the back. York City battered Wrexham and my day couldn't of got any worse really until Everton turned over Wigan with Jagielka scoring quite late on. Its not a bet that i regret though as their odds were to short in my opinion. My only winning selection of theday was a lay of Palace.
On the 19th i laid the draw in the AIK game and i laid Coventry and both results come good for me.

The 20th i laid Bath City (bottom) v Luton (2nd from top) and the game finished 1 all. I also laid Forest at home to Newcastle and the game finished 2-2 so another winning bet. On the 21st i laid Athletic Bilbao at Malaga and the game finished 1 nil to Malaga. Worrying times for Bilbao. I also laid Cardiff at home to Leicester and i think off the top of my head the game ended 2 all.

On the 23rd and for my 18th bet i laid Leeds United at Brighton. The only worry for me was how much Liverpool would of taken out of Brighton. First half Leeds were superb and quite rightly went in at the break 2 nil up, much to my amazement. I thought that was that bet lost but Poyet rallied his troops and they come out second half looking like a different team. Game ended 3 all, a cracker indeed. I then laid Scunny at home to Yeovil as i just thought the price was wrong @ 1.79 seeing as they hadn't won a game. They did win this though 2-1. Also laid Millwall at Derby County as the price was a joke, 3 nil Derby county, easy lol. My last lay was Newcastle at home to Blackburn which Newcastle won 3-1.

Good stuff. I do this everyday and has given good profits for the last 2 1/2 years (I back and lay).

Some of the lays have been at high odds, my criteria has a limit, but whatever works for you. If you stick with it and remain selective and manage your money properly, you will make slow gains, which will provide you with a bank to use higher staking.

Try creating a blog, brilliant for discipline and also tracking your results, so you can check where you have gone wrong.

Anyway stick with it and try not to make yourself get involved in matches for the sake of it.

Doing something similiar myself for a while, going well despite a recent bad run. I only lay away teams with a price limit of 6.0 (5-1). I lay in all major leagues and some of the smaller ones too. Some great value lays to be found lower english and foreign leagues. My staking is 5% exposure of bank, this means i only have one lay at a time, which helps me pick only my top lay of the day. Slower process but more disciplined and therefore more successful. Good luck with your lays and i'll keep a look out for this thread, and compare to my own lay picks.

@ paulme, hi mate. I don't know anything about Trabzonspor so can't really help there. Well done with the CSKA lay. They wont come back form this. Bayern v City is an interesting one. I just personally feel like the price on City is massive, 4/1 for City to win is huge. Bayern have started the season well but so have City, in a tougher league. I really don't think Bayern will win tonight. Obviously home advantage which is big but City now have the players to unlock any defence and i think they will thrive tonight. To many people are reading to much into the draw against Napoli.

Good luck whatever you decide Happy

"Instead of sticking to laying teams in league's that i know, i started to try and steal money every night by backing over 1.5 goals and laying the correct score involving teams and leagues i know nothing about and inevitably lost it all in 3 bets. Gutted Cry "

@ DCF, its true i do know a lot more about the English leagues but i do watch a lot of Spanish football and of course we all know the big teams in the Champions league. I took Bayern on last night because i thought the price was wrong and i still believe it was wrong. Bayern deserved to win in the end most definitely but i also believe Man City should of had two early penalties that would of changed the game completely. A quick look at my results show me that Bayern last night is the first non English team that has cost me money on this thread so 5 out of 6 isn't bad.

Thank you and GL to you also Happy

Month 1 - September Results & Review

Hi lads. So the first month of my thread is up and I'm really pleased its gone relatively well. A nice profit from month 1 but more importantly my knowledge and selection criteria hopefully will be better next month. I am most definitely going to try and be more selective next month. The only aim is to make a profit and i think 25 lays in a month might be a little bit to much.

My best lay this month i think was either Wolves against Tottenham or the lay of Millwall against Derby and i think although not a massive dent in my profit my worst lay was probably PNE away at Charlton in the cup. Also paulme asked a very good question when he said is it better to do many selections on a day or just one or two and to be honest i don't really have the answer yet because if i had laid my possible lays on the 27th (West Ham, Barnsley, Bristol City) and the two i did lay (Bayern and Wycombe) the profit would of been far greater as none of the possible lays won. I will figure it out as i move along.

I've really enjoyed your input and questions lads and i hope October can be equally as profitable. I will be back later with todays selections. Thank you.

Great to see you in profit and good luck for October. From a form and value point of view I have laid both Lille and Athletico Madrid tonight at short(ish)odds. I see both away sides capable of winning let alone the draw but the Fulham games reinforces that we should always expect the unexpected.
