http://www.sportsbookreview.com/sbr/betfair/ Found the video here. Not really Betfair's fault if he chose a psp that only allows 20 k transfer a week. I take it psp stands for payment servive provider ? This guy was Russian and I don't know much about bank transfers there, but I would think a normal bank transfer would take no more than a week. Why he has chosen something else I don't know, maybe a tax issue ? |
By:
*payment service provider*
By:
is that the youtube video?
By:
Not sure if it's on youtube. I found it on www.sportsbookreview.com
By:
yes, that's the link for the youtube video, just i've shortened it.
By:
yeah just saw video, no bf's issue with the payment imo
By:
not bfs issue. its psp, local laws, transfering millions into Russia etc
By:
and what about the guy who had £30,000 grand taken out of his account
By:
The 30k guy you just dont know. #
You would have to to trust BFs investigation. Chance that he is caught out innocently i guess but who really knows without all details |
By:
brendanuk you would think the person who won 3.1 million would know that he needs to make alternative arrangements. Likewise Betfair should know that returning money via his psp was innapropriate. There must be big hitters who win large amounts, they cant all wait years to get their money. He should have been told to come to UK with his identity and been sorted out. Poor customers service, playing by the rules (jobsworth), or is it a case of ... (for example, "Russian wins 3.1M on Tennis") and Betfair dont want to help? [:p]
By:
brendanuk the £30,000 guy is not protected by UK gambling commission, and if he wanted to challenge it in law I assume he would have to go to Gibraltar (or Australia?). Thats not any easy thing to do. So Betfair can pretty much do whatever they like in these cases.
By:
hazel, you could argue that, but isn't it the customer who is supposed to know how his choice of psp deal with this kind of transfers ?
I also think it would be easy to reverse whatever's left of the transfer and chose another way of doing it if the customers wanted so. |
By:
Eddie I think its both that need to use a bit of common sense, say a £2 punter won a million on Tote via Betfair, you wouldnt expect him to be paid out at £20,000 a week.
By:
I think the likely scenario about the €30k guy is that he was linked to other accounts. I'm sure Betfair don't accuse people lightly and without suitable evidence.
By:
NO YOU WOULDN'T, BUT WHY NOT CHOSE NORMAL BANK TRANSFER WHICH ONLY TAKE A FEW DAYS AND EVERY PENNY IS PAID IN ONE TRANSFER.
Sorry for the Caps ![]() |
By:
GOM I would tend to agree. if it was me I would be jumping up and down, writing to the press, kicking down the door at Hammersmith or whatever. This guy seem to be taking it on the chin which to the ordinary person seems to imply guilt. But on the other hand maybe ... (I wish Betfair had remained under UK regulation, it kind of added to the view that Betfair has less respect for their customers in recent times)
By:
Eddie you know, Betfair know that, so why wasnt he contacted before funds transferred. Agree he should have know that too, but all I am saying is a little customers service might have helped overcome the winners ignorance.
By:
I just have a feeling this guy don't want to use traditional banks.
He might have been able to go to England and get a cheuqe, but he would have to cash it somewhere. |
By:
you might be right about that, the dark world of gambling doesnt always attract the best clientelle.
By:
I know most UK people don't know this so I'll say it again.
In most other countries taxation on gambling winnings isn't as straight forward as it's in UK. Plenty of grey zones out there. Don't know anything about rules in Russia, but I suspect there's a reason ho wont use bank transfer. |
By:
If he was a manual player he'd be used to waiting. It would probably take him days just to drip feed a decent bet into betfair's stupid interface.
By:
betfair rating on SRB will be down graded soon...SRB will get to many emails about betfair stealing money from players accounts because of the PC charges
By:
just because betfair called it fraud doesn't means it fraud in a court of law...And I think betfair does have a good chance now of being taken to court for stealing
By:
If you are in UK the court is in gibraltar - no chance there then
PS nairda - what/who is SRB |
By:
casino use to call card courting as cheaters, but casino (UK,AUS) had no right to take card counters money, because in a court of law the casino would lose
I think we 100% have a court case on PC |
By:
sorry SBR sports book review is a web site that rate bookmakers on how safe the sport book is....the web site is not always rate, but it better then nothing
By:
Any clues as to how he won it?
By:
seemed to me it was poker related, but could be wrong
By:
oops sorry thats the 30k bloke, not the Russian
By:
thanks nairda - sports book review website and ratings etc is useful for anyone looking to bet with a variety of bookmakers. i see some are categorised as pure scams (F rating) whilst 5 are recommended as A+.
By:
brendanuk, the 30 k dude couldn't be poker as it's about PC fraud. The Russian guy could be a poker player though.
By:
lets say Bet angle owner sell 20 people he trading systerm (bot)..those 20 new accounts will make similar market trades (to bet angle onwers) betfair link all accounts as the same base on similar market trades and same country, betfair calles these accounts fraud avoid accounts , and take 40% profit ....court case waiting to happen
By:
oh ok, didnt know poker didnt incur pc. Thinking he is even more likely to be trying some sort of evading given that.
By:
nairda nto only that, the linked the accounts will share the same PC portal and those 20 will see BetAngel owners portal, breaking the data protection act
By:
yes...betfair is opening a can of worms
I know betfair think they got it all worked out, that betafir has many smart people working there, but guess what, their many smart people on the other side who are good at f-cking systems like betfair I know people who spent years f-cking casino system over in Germany , austria and Switzerland,, it f-cking hard to do, because those casino get look after by their government so much there..betfair is so f-cking hated by most of the European governments, they will take any chance to stick it up betfair |
