Betfair sent me an email saying if I bet £150 and it lost I would get a refund of my stake, so I duly complied with the t&cs and it lost, so I claimed my refund.

Now they are saying that it doesnt qualify because it wasnt matched as a single bet at the initial price, and when I adjusted the price to get the matched, I cancelled the unmatched part and created a new bet, therfore it wasnt one £150 bet. What kinda bulls**t is that? Has anyone else been caught by this?

I know they send out those offers to entice back punters who haven't used the site for a while. Doesn't surprise me they'd have some get out clauses to make sure they didn't have to honour the bet.

Good to see they're spending that PC money wisely to entice punters back , even though those punters probably only signed up to arb the £25 freebie in the first place and probably have about 10 accs, they must think xmas has come early with another £150 to arb.

its not a get out clause though, is it? It clearly states that it only applies to the first bet, ergo you didn't comply with the t&cs

Shoot him then eh ?

The problem is clearly stated by the punter: it was the SAME bet.

But the PC (let's protect the losers) company is using a technicality to keep the PC in house (is anyone surprised?)

When he changed the price of the "bet" the system assigned a new bet id to the remaining part. The punter didn't bet twice as it is clearly stated in his post. He just wanted to make sure his ONLY bet would be matched.

But that much PC can't surely be shared back with the losers ...

He didn't change the price of his bet:

So they stick to the letter of the law on their bonus T+C when it suits them. Shame they didn't do it on the casino promo.

Just awful.
Try posting on the site feedback forum, stevedagget.  Someone actually got a refund on some charges a couple of weeks ago.

Betfair forget sometimes that this is an "exchange".

So players will put up a price and move a bet to hopefully land the "best possible odds" on average.  It would appear as £150 and your average odds.

It seems the promo department doesn't understand how an exchange works.

Not sure it's just limited to the promo dept, shapeshifter Laugh

I saw this earlier and raised it with the Promotions department. As far as I am aware, your account was credited with the money today, but I believe someone was also going to call you directly.

If I can help any further, just let me know.

Any chance you could get me back on 20%PC please?

I think they put that in their TCs to stop people trading the event getting the profit, then getting the refund as well, not to be pedantic about people chasing the promotion by chasing the odds.  Couldn't imagine that following the right avenues wouldn't get you the refund based on what was done.  Right result and expected result.  Sometimes you just need to follow things up as most of these things would be system generated and obviously 2 bet ids would need human intervention to prove qualification.
