I'm thinking of selling my greyhound lay selections for a couple of quid per meet, so below I will write my lay selection for 4 of today's meets and see how I get on:
On paper I use the SP to work out losers but in general I never risk more than £12 on one dog, and freddiewilliams you arrogant tw*t if you dont like the thread don't read it.
A premium charge has nothing to do with me. I play at small stakes and DO NOT PROFESS TO BE ANY KIND OF EXPERT you ar*se hole

ryan, do yourself a favour and go on the daily bags thread on the greyhound forum, i did well today and got out. there are guys there who make money every day and post their selections up, there are guys there also who lose and post their selections up everyday before each race. they all know about the premium charge, and you would be welcomed, you have to appreciate that you are swimming with sharks outside of that forum! ... and they will eat you alive

I've done it every day for the last 7 and made an average of £35 per day laying at £2.
of course I will lay winners from time to time. So what?
I will challenge anyone to post their lay selections for any of tomorrows meets and I will do the same, and we can see who comes out on top.
And if none of you want to do that, you best keep it buttoned.

If you can show me a system to lay rags on BF at industry SP I will give you 10k. Every meeting every day the no hopers are between 7/2 to 10's on the show yet 20 to lay on here.

Ryan, dear me. Have a word with yourself mate & take things a little easier.
I might be wrong, but I got a sneaky feeling this might end in tears.
Best of lucky though, always welcome new people to the dogs. Like Irishone says, try the bags threads. It is very easy going & welcoming too and you won't be putting yourself up on show like this while you get to grips with things.

Let me ask a simple question from an all time non layer or backer of any and all doggies. Is greyhound racing supposed to be as corrupt and fixed as HR ?

I am sure there are instances of corruption out there but its a matter of degree. I have had the first six months of 2010 results analysed and only 4 of them actually won, so if it is bent and corrupt the guys putting on the money aren't doing a very good job meet/date/time/grade/trap name/bf s p /cash put on/ total cash put on race/percentage of bf market

Agree thay you need to state the Betfair odds when you give the results . Some of the odds you get on Betfair for the dogs are crazy, often in double figures.

As a bit of fun because you seem to want a challenge i will post lays for the two morning programmes. It took me 10 minutes to do it and i rarely bet on the dogs. Just a bit of fun and an experiment to see if i can get lucky so to speak.

On here I think it has a lot to do with the races being so close together, say somebody has a fiver on a race at 11.13 and the next race is at 11.20 a lot of people will wait until their bets from the previous race have settled before they do anything on the next race. But their will be people who wait for the prices to settle so they can pick the true favs etc.
just a thought.

Oh and just for the record... when I first posted here and said 'selling my lay selections' I meant actually posting the bets for a couple of quid not selling them to others to lay!!!!
Im not that desperate for £2!!! ha

Gee does 6*2 =12 ? Well I never. Now there's a selection criterium for you. Very scientific. Btw it seems to be widely accepted knowledge by the " pros " on here that laying the really long odds in sports betting is where the true value is. Not so to you though ? Why would that be ? Just curious.

been down this road many many times with the dogs, id be shocked if theres anybody in the uk today who has watched more dog races and compiled more stats than i did in 2008/9, i couldnt make it pay. i did everything i possibly could to find a stats/form reading method of selecting greyhounds, more than on any other sport ive ever attempted to specialise in. theres so many races everyday and i love the sport, which kept me going alot longer than i probably should have, i wasted alot of time and money trying to make it pay. my longest ever winning run was laying the dogs, 39 in a row picking 3 a day, all of my biggest wins have been on the greyhounds backing.
if i could lay at the bookies prices then id be typing this message half p1ssed from my yaucht in monaco, betfairs 100% markets and % take from winning bets eats away at any hope you ever have making it stick long term.
infact towards the end i trialled backing the dogs i rated as being the very worst, it was almost a break even system ffs.
on the plus side, it led me onto something that i would never have discovered without the legwork, so i never look back with regrets, but please be honest with yourself Ryan with the prices and returns your settling this trial to. a dog thats 6/1 on course can be anything between 7.0 and 40.0 on here.
also consider that unless youre planning on sitting by your computer from 11am till 10pm at night, theres no way to get these lays on at reasonable prices, automated software can help, but if theres a delay then you'll start feeding money into markets too early for the rest of the day.
good luck though lad maybe youve got something about you that i dont.

Ishone, And Frog, Heres a story that is completely true. Many years ago Manchester had a champion Ballinska Band who won the Puppy Cup , the grader at that time , told me while we were having a drink in the bar after racing that its the best dog I've ever seen.It ran in 2 Derbys, in them days there were 6 rounds. In its first Derby it won all 5 rounds, started odds on in the final & got beat. Next year, same again. My point is it won 10 out of twelve but lost when it mattered.Aint that heartbreaking for the owner Mr Bacci.

I'm lucky in that respect clacher , i teach stats and a bit of programming part-time in a college so i get the students to analyse the stats for me as part of their coursework. Some of the things they come up with absolutely blow your mind, i have to check them sometimes to see if they are true and nine times out of ten it comes back to rank bad grading at the track.

clacherholiday2, just read your post... Im using betfair for recreational purposes and not to make money long term, making a few quid is just a bonus but obviously I dont wanna lose my small bank in a hurry. I'll take the dogs ive layed today in this thread, 8/10 correct at notts... Im not saying I would actually have layed every dog I chose out of the 10 races, I would only have layed the dogs I chose if the price was right. however the 2 winners i layed may have been the only 2 dogs out of the 10 that i felt i could lay so i would obviously be at a loss.
Great post.

Zipper ive had a think about it (doesnt usually help) was it Myretown and Balliniska getting mixed around. No doubt its winning when it really matters that counts.

very true, some of the upgrades/downgrades can often appear totally random when viewed through maths specs. anybody who is studying greyhound form needs to stay very focussed on what it is they are looking for, when 2 dogs run 400 meters they have the difference between them measured in tenths of a second, its not as clear cut as the numbers have us believe.
itd be interesting to see what the students came up with, assuming they were fresh to gambling. did they pick winners?

Clacher, over the years only a couple have gone on to analyse results and back them but with little success. One guy did a study of irish results at Galway and was down there one night and he picked a winner, told me to back it (I didn't) and it won in a very dodgy photo at 4/9. Hardly profitable ! (The photo had been rubber stamped "OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH" over the nose of the 6 dog so you could not see if it had done the jolly !) Obviously I can't be too specific but in general terms they prove that graders underestimate young improving dogs and that they frequently underestimate the dogs starting yardage in handicaps. As well as that they used correlation to show there was hardly any evidence to prove a perceived track bias from the results of 99% of meetings and more recently they have shown that the bags "gambles" aren't profitable at all unless you get the early prices. All information that anyone who knows anything about dog racing would probrably know anyway !

agreed, graded BAGS racing should be the preserve of layers, its much easier to pick a dog thats going to take a bump than trying to predict one that wont.
but then only the truly heartless want to be cheering on some poor mut to get tripped, aint for me.

i just dont like some of guys (no names) who have posted on the daily dogs topic over the past few years who are delighted to hear their lay doing backflips on bend 1 for the sake of winning a fiver.
i just like dogs more than i like gambling, its just me though and never actively try and put people off it as everyones different.
if a boxer or a football breaks a bone you can explain to them why its happened, you cant explain to a dog why its in pain, sadly its all to easy to predict which dogs are likely to tumble about.
