The racetrack provides a natural laboratory for economists interested in understanding decisionmaking under uncertainty. The most discussed empirical regularity in racetrack gambling markets is the favorite-longshot bias: equilibrium market prices (betting odds) provide biased estimates of the probability of a horse winning. Specifically, bettors value longshots more than expected given how rarely they win, and they value favorites too little given how often they win. So ending up with loss of 108 was OK in circumstances. I am certain the going in FRANCE was far faster than stated...thus I chose horses to lay that had better chance of winning than I believed they had on going! THIS WILL HAPPEN NOW AND THEN RE RACING ........GOING WILL OFTEN NOT BE AS STATED....AND ON SUCH DAYS I WILL "STRUGGLE". However, I accept this is just circumstances that will occur frequently....and is part of the puzzle of racing. Certainly since I started this thread I have lost over 600 in last few days. Over all the last 30 days I am still over 1400 up though. I will get big odds winners now and then ....more than most.....as I tend to see when such horses have a chance to win...when the MARKET does not! The day recently when 2 100-1 SP horses won..........I had both backed ( with small stakes). i did not back every high odds horse in those 2 races.......just 1 or 2. NOT MAY PUNTERS WOULD HAVE BACKED BOTH THAT DAY.....WHICH I TRUST YOU WILL RECOGNISE IS "EXCEPTIONAL" SELECTIONS. However, i know that low odds horses also win....check out yesterday and you will see that i a number of short odds winners IN BOLD .....as well as the DUNLOP winner. 1.40 Panoptic - I suspect it does not win....but on principal re race type not betting to lay it. Not much up against it ...so it may well win. Miss Exhibit may find going good for it , so could threaten to win....suspect not though. Champagne Princess- Might grab 3rd place ...but dodgy selection ...as might not! Cat Island MORE LIKELY TO BE CLOSE TO WINNING ON GOING.... CAT ISLAND appears to hold a chance to place/win.....and if risking 2 squid...that would be the bet TO PLACE. |

Captain Kolo - going should be ok for it ..but not got rail draw ...so may cost it a winning chance first time out! Ime Not Bitter - "interesting" on e...with rail draw. DRAW might be agaist it for winning...may grab 2nd/3rd??? Ivy And Gold GOOD draw and going should suit.....with claiming jockey on it ....not sure about it though. Rowan Spirit HUGE fitness factor and going fine ....and well drawn....so appears to hold fair chance today . The fact it has ran twice and failed to win though ...puts a doubt about it winning though! Likely to be in first 3 home. Taverners Jubilee DRAW dodgy ...but has had benefit of race...so that might get it out stalls quick enough to have a chance in this race. Even Stevens Good DRAW ....and trainer has horses that can do well over 6 furlongs....so it should stay out trip ......but against horses that have had benefit of run/runs.....so not sure whether first time out it will be given hard ride to threaten to place/win.......BUT COULD WELL BE DARK HORSE IN RACE.
