that video is brilliant.
clearly whoever got on at 1000, it wasn't the commentator. |

Just imagine being the layer watching that McCoy race as the slow realisation started to sink in that you were losing 265,000 to win 265 quid.

There was a football game this year, spanish league game I believe live on TV an the same thing happened, disallowed goal 86 laid at 999/1, no more goals. I have always thought it was a waste of time as there are a few ready to put up these odds and many will get put at back of the queue and never get matched, seems a lot of hard work for little gain and as proven can bite you on the arsse.

I remenber that Rugbyleaguer, i think it was a Real Madrid game, £40 traded at 1000. lol

kicking king a few years ago, stable reported horse injured and out for season 1,000/1 was matched for around £200 i think in ante post market, horse duly turned up and WON
|
|
By:
I thought Kicking King was a horse that fell and then got up and won?

I think binocular was matched at huge odds in the ante post Market for the champion hurdle this year, very similar to kicking king! Also new approach for the derby a couple o years ago.

im sure someone has the details of the game where the wrong score was shown on the telly...?
|
|
By:
I believe that game was South Korea u17s vs possibly Mexico u17s, something like that.
Score was 1-0 and "Mexico" scored a goal that was disallowed, except nobody saw that it had been disallowed because Eurosport were showing a replay of the "goal" so the score was displayed as 2-0 South Korea or whoever it was scored shortly after to equalise and the score was then displayed as 1-1 Not sure what price was matched. |
|
By:
i think that was it lori
im guessing 1000 was matched as the 1000 layer would have been in there automatically. |
|
By:
There was a Brazil v Ireland game a few months ago (can't remember if it was Rep or Northern) where £500 was matched at 900-1000, because the teams were the wrong way round either on Betfair or tv, so people thought the scores were the opposite.
|
|
By:
Here you go, this is directly from Betfair historical data, and dwarfs the amounts others mention. £1,000 matched at 1000 as someone thought the score was 2-0 rather than 0-2, as it was displayed the wrong way around on tv.
I said £500 because the amount matched is always doubled by BF, so someone or some group of people collectively lost £500,000 on this. The "100" you see in between teh odds and the money matched refers to the number of bets placed. 101178019 02/03/2010 22:01 Internationals/Fixtures 02 March / Brazil v Rep of Ireland 02/03/2010 20:05 Correct Score 02/03/2010 20:09 9 0 - 2 1000 100 1027.12 02/03/2010 21:58 02/03/2010 21:15 0 IP Republic of Ireland 0 Brazil 2 * Andrews (og) 45, * Robinho 76 |

Perhaps I'm wrong though, and this was settled the other way around?!?

By:
It probably was, seeing as no-one else ever seems to mention this one [:)]

international cricket match involving ireland. Niall o Brian was batting and given out. Someone put up 1000/1 Kevin o brian for 2 quid to be top bat having mixed them up.
I swooped, tryed to get it! managed to get 1.81 laid off 3 balls later at evens after kevin smacked a few 4's on the way to top scoring. 900 all green in moments. |

I once asked for 999/1 and was matched on a female Big Brother contestant to be top female (at the time there were only two females left in the house).
She left the house via helicopter and my bet was matched. Imagine the layers horror when she returned to the house the following day!! I had fun laying her at 5s and upwards to green up the book. She came 2nd. Liverpool must have been huge odds when 3 nil down at half time in a famous european game(cant recall opposition) Liverpool went on to win in extra time! |

was working for 365 around that time. Some mr big phoned up and had 100k at 1.01 ac milan. Was talk of the whole company for yrs after.
i also saw 100k at 1/6 aus to win the ashes after their won the first lords test in 05-ish before eng made the comeback Biggest bet i ever took over the phone was 10k on a fav at 6/4 which won. The bloke had about 60k in his account there and it would show up...refer all bets, raise hand to alert attention. That was the biggest balance of someone i ever saw there. I enjoyed working there. ![]() |

My biggest in 10 years was hit the automated to green out when a horse I laid (probably a risk of around £80) hit 40's.
I threw £2 into the pool and my screen whacked saying £600or so if it won, the matches from 400 down to 200/1 my lay probably to pocket £5. Then, the prices started spiking going crazy and I realized the horse was making a charge. I put a lay up at 3.00 with around 100 as quick as I could.......and got around £10 matched before the horse landed 2nd landing me around £15 profit ![]() |

Feck me, I'd forgotten how funny the horse on top of the fence was in the Family Business race!

I remember somebody having tipped that horse up, actually, and I think it was ppking or Janov posted that "xyz, your horse appears to be stuck on the fence."

Yes I remember the Chelsea 0-3 Sunderland game as I had laid 0-2 and imagine my surprise and relief when it was actually another Sunderland goal that rescued me.

SO TO SUM UP DOES THAT MEAN THAT NO HORSE ON HERE THATS BEEN OFFERED AT 1000-1 HAS NEVER WON
I DONT MEAN IN RUNNING I MEAN A HORSE THAT HAS BEEN OFFERED AT 1000-1 BEFORE THE RACE STARTS |
|
By:
not sure about horses do wah ,certainly many 1000/1 sp bets come in
football correct scores especially birmingham 0 barnsley 5 man utd 1 man city 6 chelsea 0 sunderland 3 barcelona 0 hercules 2 man utd 8 arsenal 2 (would certainly have qualified if it existed ) arsenal 7 newcastle 3 (ditto) west brom 5 man utd 5 (ditto again) cardiff 3 liverpool 6 they're some of the most recent from epl and la liga ,and that's not an exhaustive list - just from my memory there are many more around the 600/1 mark which may well have peaked at 1000 whether they would have made you a profit long term, who knows ? |
|
By:
YES COACHBUSTER BUT BIRMINGHAM 0 BARNSLY 5 AND THE REST WOULDNT HAVE BEEN OFFERED AT 1000-1 BEFORE THE GAME STARTED ,IM NOT ASKING ABOUT IN RUNNING IM ASKING ABOUT PRE MATCH ,AND PRE RACE OFF
YOU COULD HAVE ONLY BET ON OVER EIGHT AND A HALF GOALS IN THE CARDIFF 3-LIVERPOOL 6 GAME AND I DONT THINK ANYONE WOULD HAVE OFFERED 1000-1 IN REALITY ON HERE ,SAME FOR THE OTHER GAMES BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY 1000-1 HORSE HAS WON NOT IN RUNNING BUT BEFORE THE RACE STARTED THERES LOADS OF 1000-1 HORSES LAID BEFORE THE OFF BUT HAS ANY EVER WON |

Last October I misdirected my robot to offer 1000 on favoured way Australian Quinellas.
And got hit by what appears to have been a non-Australian thrillseeker. Curious that no one piped up to rub my face in it. Anyway I still offer plenty of 1000s, and get matched regularly. They should be up well within the hour, and you should be able to see mature primary markets, as well as a sub 110% market, with 5 hours before jump. So feel free to knock yourself out. |

I don't know how you 1000 layers sleep at night!

do Wah ,they were all pre kick off # the birmingham match shattered the 1000/1 twice ,on 0-4 and 0-5 - i don't think that had been done in a long time
if i did a list of in running matches with 1000/1 endings i'd be writing a list as long as the M4 all in lower case - see what i've done there do wah ![]() |

there are up to 100 opportunities ,or 5,000 over a year on correct score ,a great many scores will not get taken - you would need 5 every year to break even , fewer than that number arrive every 2 years so in essence you are doubling your money if you don't mind the stress ![]() |

but like buses ....
3 could arrive in quick succession |

Coachbuster - yes "stress" is definitely the operative word!
Even if you win all the bets I couldn't stand the stress of something going wrong! You probably win far more than me so I'm probably the loser here! |
