I trade and lay the nags, but I had to decide which was more profitable and time-effecient. So, I did a detailed analysis of the the profitability and time involved and came to the (startling) conclusion that , after 900+ races in my analysis, my profitiablity was a mere $0.24 PER RACE! And this was using banks over $300 per race!
I was surprised to find for an equivalent period of 900 races, my bookmaking made an average profit of over $0.70 per race with my small stakes -- almost 3 times more, and involved a lot, lot less time. Other benefits included a far lower liability per race, and it is far less stressful. So, I decided to take off my traders hat and put on my bookie hat...just my own experience, I don't know about others. I think BTO found the same too. |

By:
One other note...I also traded football matches, and it was a solid money-maker , but I didn't include these results in the horse trading analysis.

snapper - are those aussie dollars?
|
|
By:
Those are USD.
I just finished an interesting analysis. I can clearly see the effect of commission on the book profits(12.5% before and 7.4% after) Commission adds up to $174. The remaining profits are $239,97 A startling effect! |
