In the 3.35 at Ascot there are many obvious chances for this. However, I have reasons to believe that Vino Griego could run a better race than the odds of 33/1 and 40/1 suggest. A small e/w play for me, just in case.

Back on the 1st Nov at Ascot, Sign Of A Victory won the William Hill H'cap Hurdle in what I believe was a very fast time and the horse went into my notebook as one that would be worth following along with a few others from that race. If SOAV was entered in the Greatwood, I would imagine he would be close to favourite at a single figure price. The 3rd placed horse in that race is entered and I believe that Baradari can run a big race on Sunday regardless of ground conditions and should be all the fitter now for that run earlier. 25/1 is still available and fingers crossed for a big run from that one. I also still like the look of John's Spirit in the Paddy Power Chase on Saturday, and if this one runs to his best can go close again in this race at what is still a good price of 9/1 (11/1 here and there) Have done a cheeky double with both. Just hope they both run! |

At last, the first 'proper' jumps meeting of the season. I'm doing two tomorrow, both of course, not without a decent chance. In the 1.50, I'm staying with Next Sensation for now. Ran some cracking races last season, is now race fit, will prefer the give in the ground and hopefully will go well at odds of 12/1. In the 3.00 Blaklion has a favourites chance, but I prefer the look of Champagne Present at 4/1 and this one really should have won lto I think. Hopefully will go one better this time. |

Have already had a small nibble on Rocky Creek for the Hennessy on Saturday and have topped up now Nichols has confirmed him as a runner. 11/1 still available at Billys but that won't last and will be single figures on the day I think and one of the favourites probably. Loves the big galloping tracks and granted a clear round should be thereabouts after the final fence.

The ground could come up quite testing, and that coupled with the very stiff finish, should see him go close. 20/1 is very nice. Winc 3.15 Big Fella Thanks could well go close in this again after winning last year, despite his age. |
