By the way Feck how much have you won on here and how much tax have you paid on it (not your savings, your winnings)?
When you put that up we can decide whether to get the violins out over your subsidies and criticism of the bankers who are actually paying tax. |

Stringer, surely you recognise there is a difference between betting with your own money and betting with someone else's money, keeping a large share when you win and blaming someone else when you lose. These parasites are nothing more than the Thommos of the financial world.

I want to place a big one sided bet.
If I win I keep the spoils. If I lose, then I leave society to pick up the tab. How can I get these bets on? |

"Goldman Sachs, Goldman Sachs, clicking in the votes?
Campaigners for a "Robin Hood tax" watched with alarm as thousands of votes poured into their website, rejecting their proposal for a levy on City wheeler-dealing, to raise money to fight poverty and climate change. After a bit more investigation, though, the unlikely backlash against the rob-the-rich plan almost 5,000 no votes against the Robin Hood tax within 20 minutes turned out to emanate from just two computer servers, one of which was registered to the investment bank Goldman Sachs." http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/feb/11/goldman-sachs-tobin-tax |

the financial sector is a vexed question. the excesses are really quite obscene, but there's thousands employed by it who don't earn silly money. a lot of that goes back into the economy too. if the govt were to take a hard line then the banks would just up sticks and go elsewhere, ireland, germany, anywhere with a more equable tax regime. the city and canary wharf would become ghost towns. then what?

Would be filled up by Betfair traders within weeks imo.

Isn't it great these profits and bonuses being announced by Barclays? I'm really pleased that the money I'm losing on my savings is going to these wealth creators as must be people who are losing their jobs, houses and businesses.
It will take 50 years of Baader-Meinhof type gangs for this country to recover from Thatcher's greed is good philosophy. It's turned into one giant p1ss take that you bump into in almost every walk of life. |

I aint no economist but it seems to me that the Global banking system has been set up for the benefit of those who run it. If we dare to protest that they are overpaid the Bankers threaten to leave with dire consequenses for the economy. This is nothing more than Blackmail and until there is global action to control the Bankers greed we shall continue to be held to ransom.

And what about those two bosses of Barclay's giving up their 5 mill bonuses. The responsibility they've shown should be an example to us all.
1.01 their basic pay will jump 5 mill come April allowing them to dodge the windfall tax on the bonus. Salt of the fkng earth. |

When my wife comes racing with me these days we agree to a financial arrangement which we call BANKERS TERMS.
The basics are quite simple. Firstly, I agree to create the conditions by which she might make a profit. I do this by providing her with sufficient liquidity for her to make her bets and I provide the advice to enable her to make her choices. Secondly, in the event that a profit on the day is achieved, we agree that she pays herself a bonus of 100% of the profit. Thirdly,I agree to underwrite any downside risk and in the event that a loss is made then I take the loss. i agree to these terms because as she says she could easily go elsewhere for the same deal and would do so unless these terms are honoured. I am extremely grateful to be able to do this for her and consider myself fortunate that the terms are not even harsher. Any borrowings that I undertake to finance any losses made over the years are of course my responsibility and though it might take me years to pay back these debts, nevertheless I know that this is a first-class arrangement. |

It would be a lot longer for a lot of people if it wasn't for these financial parasites. Fraudsters who should be in jail imo.

I see the power companies are sticking their c0cks up a bit further as well now. To think that they were state owned before Thatcher decided to sell them off to her pals in the city for little more than a song. I wonder if we'll have to bail them out if global warming brings about a permenant heatwave.
We've also got another Thatcher legacy coming back to haunt us in the shape of the Malvinas islands. Bad enough that young lives on both sides were lost to get Thatcher re-elected but Britain's now about to take over the most hated nation on earth title for stealing oil from a third world country (I take it there's not much of Scotland's left to steal). I wonder how Thatcher's pal General Pinochet would've voted in the recent UN Malvinas debate. Meanwhile we've still got young men and women dying for no other reason than the s c u m of the earth wan't to ensure access to another nation's oil and to to build an oil pipeline accross another's territory. It seems a winter of discontent is expected across Europe as the effects of bailing out the financial parasites starts to bite. General strikes and maybe even riots are being forecast. In Britain though such action will likely be limited to jbarnes and his ilk protesting about reduced bonuses. The working classes will be too busy slating the unemployed and telling foreigners to get out of our country. Doubtless those sentiments will also apply to anyone who sets foot on the aforementioned islands 11,000 km's away (English sheep sh@ggers excepted). |
