Chagoo - what i do is basically very simple.
I let the market before the race run its course ( usually ) as reports suggest the market is efficent in general. Then i correct the market for any shocks that occur IR. However i dont correcft totally ( would make a 100% book and no profit ) but i build in a margin for myself. So lets say a 10.0 BF SP - misses the break by 4 l over 6f. First you gotta be sure that that the horse doesnt usually mioss the break by 10l. However iof its a normal type that jumps away ok - then its a lay at its SP or bigger. The key is to know or to best guess what its current price should be. Some might say its now a 25.0 shot some might say 50's. However id guerss if you could lay it at 12's before they run 2f then you got a vlaue bet. examples are numerous.......thats a simple one though and you'll find plenty of layers comnpetein for them The hard ones and as such the best lays are the ones that come from instinct. A horse might be travelling well in the eyes of the majority but sometimes i just get a feeling and think that horse has nothing left. And since the majority think its going well, they will back it short, so therefore if my feelings are right more times than not. Im left to pick up some short price lays. There really isnt much advioe i could give to people. I could say do some back to lays. However the obvious ones are know to the majority so the edge isnt so clear cut. Also lay to backs are ok - but just dont think you'll get rich doing horses like Caesars palace as everyone knows its run style nowadays. Thats eniough for me koo thanks.and you are right i dont think we trust our instincts enough,many a time i have watched ir and thinkingb a certain horse is not looking good but still getting backed at low prices only to see it weaken or not have anything left.i remember someone on here saying hw picks horses at 2.0 andd under looks at thier form a bit and if it doenst stand out wheter its a back or a lay he just uses his instincst.if he feels he should back it he does or lay it he does and he does very well out of it.i think we should follow our instincts more and not follow the crowd.

Not really chatterbox - id simply play more bets before halfway. before i got SIS i was winning 5 figures a month which is why i got it.
It doesnt do anyharm and id say it pays for itself now for me. But its not the be all and end all, if you understand what your up against time wise. More for the flat though as the jumps you neeed every split second for the jumpers. I knowe people last year who made 30k using ATR and RUK so it can be done, just abit harder and more limiting to tactics how u play |

Just a quick one today as was out most of the day freezing my titss off at Bridlington. Got back and nowt to do so turned on to try and make a few quid. Managed to lay one short ion the photo in the first and as i was trying to back back bigger they suspended the market and left me exposed. Howver it went in my favour. Need some luck some days dont ya. Other races played as normal as possible.

Koo - trust you will NOT up the bank...as currently you are on track for that million bank before the end of the year roughly!
You seem to be comfortable operating with the 10,000 bank.....and are making huge amounts in the process...so keep it going.... GL with your "comeback". |

DFCIRONMAN - defo not a thought about upping the tank. In fact the opposite. At the moment on a good run io dont deposit but have a 10k tank. If i lose the 10k after 1 race i have the ability to deposit 10k. Thats the way it works
So this means i could lose 20k in a sitting. So ive tinkered with the idea of using my master sub account to make it a 10k max losing day. If i lose the first race the full bank i have to wait till tomorrow to start again. Ive also had an unbelivable run. A 120 winner on the same day as a 25. The day after my 10.0 nap winning 4k. The today first race i play i get 4k from something i shouldnt be winning 4k off. The puntiung gods are being kind. So any early averages on winnings need to be taken with a pinch of salt. LOL soon as i said the chase i had a quick a look at how many races there was left and then a quick mental arithmatic of what i need to win in each race to break even today.
The mentality is hard to change. Think i had a mini chase in that i laid one too big as was 1300 ish down. Didnt like the horse pre race so laid it harder than i should IR, got bitten. But mistakes are to be made if im to improve. Just a bit hasty there. PLayed a couple since and played em abit better. A last fe3nce faller would have wiped me out though |

Gl to you Koo....I am working with quiet a large operating bank, but still play the spreads too often. Trying to minimise my mistakes which are still to chase. I like you do sometimes split the number of remaining races to avoid a losing day..bad habit that I hope to end at some point. Anyway..keep up the good work..very interesting thread into the daily output of a fairly large (money wise!) player..

Well the day has come to a finish............... got to this figure and then though to myself to give up for the day as its near enough level and also the site and gruss was perhaps a bit iffy
The 4k win late on wasnt a chase. I was just happy to take 1111 at 4 that the fav hadnt actually pulled too hard and that it deserved to be SP ish. So that got me out of the mire a bit but the main thing that helped me was not going ALL IN when the daily bank was dfown under 4k. Sometimes those days where I've come back from a bad positon and finish about level give me as much pleasure as when sailing along serenely without a blip.
For the likes of us Koo, our months hinge on the avoidance of destructive days rather than the number of good days we've had. This is where the 10k limit has to be a good thing because if managed properly, it pretty much safeguards against the kind of days that we fear. |

Another day and everything went to plan............ cant remember much of note either way today. Just played as normal for as long as normal. Havent got time to read whole thread just wondered if you could summarise in a few lines what you actually do when betting in each race, as i find it hard to believe someone can make these kind of profits day in day out without some sort of an advantage |

Well done mate. As a relatively slightly older punter (47) I have been reading your progress on this thread. When you started it I was convinced that you would self-destruct and another young 'flash-harry' punter would fall victim to the in-running method of playing. BUT, so far I have been wrong and it is clear you know what you are doing. I really hope that you can keep this up and that when a day comes along (which it will) where you lose the day's bank right off you keep control and turn your machine off. I genuinely hope you get to whatever target you have set (1 million?) then forget gambling for ever and do something else in life because you seem to be intelligent enough to do other things as well. Gambling is fine (I've been at it since I was 12) but making a million from it should be enough for you given your age. Not everyone will agree but I suspect you will think the same in 20 years time. For now, though, keep it up and keep posting (as well as watching the Simpsons which I am also watching as I type!) |

Drastic daz - i only havr the pictures many use from exchange shops. I have SIS home service but have to use RUk for the other half.
What i do isnt anything that others dont do. I watch a race and using the SP as a base, i then back or lay horses thats chances have improved or diminshed as i see fit. I usually also take a position and i dont tend to green up or trade a horse. I prefer a straight back or a lay. Though on backs i'll usualy through a lay in ther system butoften cancel if obvious my price is to big. Its basically looking for value but IR. After a long time paying the markets you also learn a few tricks that are very good to know and i supposethats a benefit of experience. Therefore my first though was to back the fav at as inear to SP as possible. Then basically left it to run knowing i had a bt that was value. I laid off at 1.12 i think through the race but wasnt taken so cancelled into the home straight. Laid some 1.08 as they approached the last. I do all sorts through the race and am very active backing laying etc etc......... thats why i raerly have a no play race. The knight...........i thikn when i reach the million (hopefully) i'll be continuing for a while longer as racing is my life to be honest. Though i do plan to slow down the daily grind once i think i have a 2nd income from investments etc that provide a decent wage. So im not dependent on winning. I'll still bet i suppose but not be a day in day out player. |

First bad bet in ages today......... changed stakes to 1111 to back the johnston beast as i thought it ran very well last time and didnt lioke the 2nd fav at all.
Saw 2nd fav pulling so thought the price at SP was massive so kept clicking. Didnt really realise id got to 8888 until after it was well stuft. Sometimes get carried away clicking on one click. Another fairly hefty loss there - laid thew winner at 3.5 as it was got hampered then it went to 225 and gets back up and wins on the line :(
