are you serious with that question ? any good gambler never enters the world of increasing stakes ! [...] WHAT? I would say that the opposite is more likely. |
By:
Of course the opposite is more likely. If you've any ambition you'll up your stakes as your success becomes more consistent. Only a fool would stay fiddling about with shrapnel if he's a regular winner.
By:
The thing is, increasing your stakes is all well and good when you're on a roll and betting in very liquid markets, but if the markets you bet in have lower liquidity then increasing your stakes has the effect of increasing your liability but you might only get this money matched if there's a rick you're not aware of. Markets are often not very pure mathematical models, so you can't just increase your stakes willy nilly and expect the same return.
By:
I agree with the above staking comments, ref the last comment I guess that's a draw back to playing in poor liquidity markets and waiting to be matched - most of the time you get nibbled at but occasionaly you get fully matched, which could be a sign that you've made a mistake on the price, or not.
Most of the markets I play are highly liquid, which I think is essential if you're ambitious like me, as I want to increase stakes as the bank grows and targets are achieved. Having said that, I play 0.5% stakes so the bank always dictates the stake, but I guess the targets are the driving force that motivate me to get there. I know most punters don't seem to have them, but I think having a mental picture of where you want to go is a good thing in any aspect of life, if you don't plan where you want to go there aint no way you can ever get there. |

Hi Fellas,... has our thread shyster here given up finaly,.. i hope so,... i mean he was redicolous to begin with,... but then he got out of hand quickly,...
Just one more note on the subject,... i make a bit of money on the horses and i am an excellent Poker Player (Average ROI 10 - 12 %, Current ROI roundabout 20 % in the two Poker Rooms i play to Medium Stakes 5 - 20$). Does that mean i head out writing Poker Manuals with clear winning Instructions -- NO cause i like the fish beeing cluless whilst taking their Spare Money !! Simple !! Do i instruct People how to compile usefull Ratings -- Hell No !! Cause the Prices on the Selections are bad enough allready and including commission i dont want to have other guys around hammering the Odds down. Now What is it what i do,... quite simple appliying my small edge on the horses and playing as many Poker Tables as humanly possible. Sometimes i even post on the Betfair Forums (i know redicolous). |

I DONT SCAM PEOPLE I GIVE THEM MY VIEWS , IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THEN YOU DONT JOIN,,SIMPLE REALLY !! |
By:
Trev h that is a great point you make mate !
the problem with a forum like this is it is a true reflection of the world we live in, everyone has different levels of comfort, everyone has different levels of realistic expectation, im not a huge gambler in terms of stakes i never have been, that doesnt mean that im about to dictate to others what they do with their money, but look at what i said " im not a huge gambler" what is huge ? in my world 5k a bet is huge !. in Harrys world he would put his house and has done on Denman. its all relevant people. raising stakes? yeah i see the logic in it but not if you then turn around and look at your 8 year old son and think what that 500 notes could have bought him. its all relevant, personally call me a coward call me what you like but if people pay me and i still get the same buzz with a ton or a nifty on a horse and am able to switch the laptop off and look at my family without feeling guilty then i am in a happy place ! family first , job second, never ever the other way around ! |

you are a mug who is trying to ruin the thread do one
By:
I'd love to chuck it in and go pro, but as said somewhere above, it is extremely tedious. If you think your 'job' is just a hobby but for longer hours, you couldnt be more wrong.
By the way, Lori, I am loving your outlook on life and stuff. |

you still here ? Sad sad person
By:
any tipster can never really get away from the point of:
"if the tips are that good then why not increase your own stakes" I am not talking about going in with crazy amounts, but lets say that you bet everyone of your own tips at 3% and then simply compound your profits into your bank, thus stakes increase slowly and under contol |

Imlac and Trevh you are wasting your time , you are dealing with experts here !! Does that mean I might bump into you in Marquee 15 at Cheltenham then? |
By:
Imlac1, you will certainly bump into me in Marquee 15 if you are there Wednesday or Thursday. Probably fall over me lol.
By:
ActiveX, I'll be there on Friday. You might find me in box 4016 on Wednesday though ;)
By:
Imlac1
I have no idea where that box would be. Is that your own for the day? I have always had 2 days in the BF Marquee for some years now, and always done the Wed and Thurs. Usually hang out of a night time with the BF account managers who know me and my mates very well. |

Mt Desert 2.50 catterick ! strongly advise you all to lump on it !( win ====================================================== Such careless language always indicate a "barrow-lad" ....sell anything mentality.........the opposite of a "pro" , I would have thought, who would choose words more carefully. With horse racing many things can go "wrong" ....and to LUMP ON implies put a huge percentage of bank on which generally can't be "right" thing to do in betting.....even though i do it.....BUT THAT JUST PROVES I AIN'T NO PRO! As it happens I had circled Mt DESERT as a possible winner ........though also circled 6 other horses where winner can come from.......HAZY OAKS possibly the one to take it on....and others. If it does win, AND IT MIGHT, .....the way you indicated to back it is still "wrong" .....and i ain't no pro! |

just keeping the people happy on here who want to raise the stakes my dear friend !

A friend of mine tried that toptips scammer last week, what a pile-o-sh1te.... minus 17s point in 1 week
By:
like to know how !
top-tips wasnt in business last week ! if you feel the need to lie be good at it ! |
By:
if you feel the need to lie be good at it Why ? you're particularly bad at it. So far all of your 4 tips on this thread have come in 6th or worse, Then you claim after they've run that they were spoof tips, and despite you repeatedly urging people to get on/lump on. You only claim they were wind ups after the races. Oh great ! another tipster who gives out spoof tips. You're shyte, you know it, we know it, so why don't you shove your head up yout a4se so you can see it for yourself. ( not that I've got much of an opinion on the subject ) |

69, You obviously have no idea what a huge pratt you're making of yourself in this thread.
You come accross as the type of chav who would bowl up to X-Factor, sing like cat with a poker up its rectum and then get all offended when Mr Cowell tells you the 'realitee'. Are you the infamous chicken plucker of 2005 ? Would you like some more ? P.S. you're probably going to try and post some witty retort to this, don't bother, you don't have it in you and you'll just embarass yourself further. Crawl back into your little fantasy world, You can be king there, and all the nasty people from the real world won't bother you anymore. |

Someone named: soixanteneuf, turns out to be an onanist.
oh the irony lol |
By:
hi ... just been 'running' around forums etc, exploring... and find it hard to understand why obviously intelligent folk (and u know who u r) keep reacting to fellows who actually state 'they-are-winding-you-up' etc etc ...
In other words, what is the attraction in coming back to this particular thread when there is obvious crap being spouted ... Hmmm, ego ?? anyway, my one and only entry, and will not be back ... Aussie-Michael :) |

1 milllon lost at 1.12 in real match in cl tonight
By:
you should always have a target figure to LOSE per day.. i dont care what anyone says in here..
once you dont care or its irrelevant how much you lose per day your on the downward spiral my friend.. |
By:
morrissey, that may apply if you are using some sort of 'skill', but what happens on any given day / week / month, has nothing to do with probability.
By:
of course it doesnt.. i didnt say it did.. but at some point in a day you HAVE to say.. thats it.. im confident in what im doing still but.. ill say tomorrow is another day..
if your lucky enough in that you can stand and not be overly affected by a truly horrific day (happens to us all) and carry on if you have a run of bad results then all well and good. i prefer to step back if the results arent going my way and come back another day. |
By:
Fair enough, apologies if that came across as arguementative, I was'nt meaning to be that way.
Also depending upon the what you are betting on then different days could make a difference (e.g. weather, location etc). |
