Duncan, can you give me a reason why I'm destined to fail here? I'm well aware it's going to be difficult to make a living from gambling but if other people can, why can't I?
A bit harsh from Duncan there , but you are only 19 and obviously don't have much experience. I can see why alot of people prefer to have a smaller amount of bets, but there are alot more opportunities in the place rather than the win market that I would consider 'strong bets'. Plus with I/R a chance can present itself in almost every race. Young people are also usually a little naive and I think that it shows when you think that you will get plenty of I/R chances when you know that there are hundreds of people watching with faster pictures than you. That said , I think you should go for it. You still live with your parents and are very young so it's no disaster if you don't make it. |

good luck JetLoneStar - we all need some of that. unlike some here I believe that £900 every month from a £2500 bank is easily do able but you would really have to put the time in where it matters. i.e. hours and hours of studying the form to get the value from the race.
You also need a clear strategy which you don't seem to have because you state you play in running in the first part of the race but then say you play US tracks where there is no in running. Other than that I agree with eddie, go for it you are only young and have plenty of time to start other careers if it doesn't work out. keep us updated on your progress |

'but you are only 19 and obviously don't have much experience'.
I can assure you experience / knowledge isn't be a problem. I'm going to be more selective today and see how I fare although playing more races has served me well in the past; We'll see. Thanks for the input / gl / advice. |

You are changing your selection strategy within a couple of days of starting this thread. I'm not saying high or low volume is right or wrong in this situation, but I do think you need to think things through a little before you proceed much further. Hope it works out. |

The one reason you will fail is because you do not have an edge. Some people do, but however much you want it to apply to you, it won't without a lot more time and effort. You have a lot to learn. http://green-all-over.blogspot.com/2008/06/full-time.html |

As the Palace lad has just said I think you may perceive that you have got an edge, but have you really? How have you reached this decision? Have you proven to yourself that you can do this over an extended period of time? Rhetorical questions of course.

Also your use of language in the thread title gives a little away.
Another wannabe pro thread. If you are still thinking as a wannabe then perhaps it is a little early to take the plunge full time just yet. |

Did the discipline issues you alluded to take hold?
I don't want to mock you Jet but i think you should come back to the thread and say what happened, your daily p and l only lasted one day so people will think the worst but it can help to post 'disasters'. I had numerous heavy losses and came to the conclusion i should share my ups and downs with someone else who could possibly be affected and so on a monthly basis, for many years now, my wife goes through the accounts on a monthly basis and it ironed out my discipline issues. I, obviously, still have losing bets but the ridiculous, red mist bets were soon cut out, it can make you think twice before deviating from your plan when things aren't going well. |

To realistically expect to average £900+ a month winnings you would need a lot more than 15K imo. ___________- Tobers ,you speak a lot of sense and wise words indeed...but the bit above is just not true . To gain an advantage of 500-600 per week (or 2,200 a month) you need a bank of no more than 7,000 if you are clever enough . |

Bank size is relevant only if your strategy demands. For the strategies I follow bank size is totally irrelevant. So it is possible to make more than 1k from a bank of 1k in one month.
I averaged 7k per month over last 5years maintaining a betting bank(not total bank) of 1k to 2k (sometimes more if Idon't make withdrawls of profit). |
