We are currently experiencing issues with our API service (as of 11:15 GMT).
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and can assure our customers that this is being treated as the top priority and all available resources are working to restore service. |
|
By:
They keep saying the same thing, but it's uninformative.
They are furtive as well as inept. |
|
By:
It's back now
|
|
By:
I'm packing in for the day. Previous episodes suggest it will keel over again in a few minutes.
|
|
By:
Yes, works now....phew..

By:
Good to see that the problems are solved.

Down again.

FFS gone again!

Why even bother putting up a message if the problems are back 10 minutes later.

Betfair Engineering 31 Jan 11:42
Earlier API issues should now resolved. Once again we would like apologise for any inconvenience caused. Dont think so! |
|
By:
not here they aren't :(
|
|
By:
No-one can be this incompetent. They are doing it deliberately.
|
|
By:
yes lost it again here too
|
|
By:
If you think for one second Betfair are doing this deliberately, you are as incompetent as you are insinuating them to be.
You can bet your ass having a working site 24/7 is their number one priority. For all of you that have had issues with your computers in the past, magnify that by 1000, and then you will begin to understand the struggle Betfair have with 24/7 uptime. As frustrating as this is for everyone, don't think for a second this is down incompetence. |

Wonder if we'll get a refund for this month's subscription? ;-)

its back again.

Drivel, Geek's Toy.
I've worked in IT for many years, and never seen anything like BF for downtime and poor technical quality. They are quite unique. Compare with the purple site, for example. Why do people keep apologising for this shower? It's like a nutcult. |

their no 1 priority is prearing for a public offering. That involves cutting costs to the bone. Et voila! |

I guess that's why the API team don't wortk at the weekends :) GaryRussell PostPosted: Sat Jan 30, 2010 2:32 pm Unfortunately the API team do not work weekends so we cannot ask them. |

By:
There's no-one on at night either.
|
|
By:
I agree with the Geeks Toy. I know it's frustrating, but they're not doing it deliberately.
|
|
By:
I'm not apologising for them. I just have first hand experience of needing to keep products up 24/7, and it's no walk in the park.
Betfair are running one of the biggest transactional systems in the world, and every hour the site or API is down it costs them dearly in both money & customer resentment. So you can bet your backside there is no higher priority than the stability of the site. This week has been the first time we have major headaches for a long time now, and fingers crossed once they have the latest nightmares sorted out, it will be stable again for a long time to come. In the meantime, **ing about it isn't going to get it on-line any quicker is it? |
|
By:
ffs, no-one really thinks they are doing it deliberately! They are just cutting costs, like the privatised railways.

100 billion should hit this arvo, could be interesting.

I doubt if there's anyone still there who remembers the design phase. It's quite obvious the current crew couldn't have got this site going. |
|
By:
10 billion perhaps.
100 billion then the site will go barmy. |
|
By:
The binary numbers may be more critical. You could have display problems at 100 billion I suppose.

Does anyone remember the integer overflow errors when the BetIDs were Int32? Those were the days! |
