The team that deals with general API support work office hours. They are not however the technical team(s) responsible for uptime. And my understanding is there is 24/7 cover on the tech side.

Someone posted yesterday morning, saying BF didn't know the API was down till he rang and told them.
They had no backup power source at the "3rd-party data centre" last night.
It's hard staying up 24/7 if you have outsourced to the lowest bidder. :D

The problem is we don't have anyone to speak to in the technical team responsibile for up time. We are told to ring the help desk like any other customer. The difference is that we are not just any other customer. We have hundreds of Betfair customers wanting an explanation for the down time and we can't give it to them.

December was a bit crook too, IIRC.

They no longer feel the need to give meaningful explanations for downtime even after the fact. Unless it's a 3rd-party provider. I don't think they realise how revealing that is.

In the meantime, ******** about it isn't going to get it on-line any quicker is it?

Probably get it on line a bit quicker than burying our heads in the sand though Geek.

People are rightly f*cked off with the level of service they're receiving at the moment and imo have every right to highlight and moan about the issues. I'm sure most are aware it's hardly a walk in the park to keep this site running but making excuses for them everytime they** up upgrades etc isn't going to get them to sort out problems

I agree communication has been very poor this weekend.

No one is as pished off about this as we are. Remember in most cases an API vendors livelihood depends on Betfair, we are told as much as you are and every time it happens we get inundated with support queries as people think our products have gone wrong.

Being pished off is one thing and everyone is entitled to that, making stupid statements in anger that does no one any good is another.

The thing is we're not talking about uptime, we're talking about the API service

So you can bet your backside there is no higher priority than the stability of the site.

Profitabilty is one. 24/7 service uptime is complicated but not rocket science either. Proper investment and planning should see off the vast majority of problems.

The issues in the last 2 month indicate that something is going wrong somewhere. 8 hours of unplanned outage is really really quite shocking. Imagine vodafone going down for 8 hours, bank atms etc.

8 hours!!

There will be escalation process. If the root cause is nothing to do with API then no point getting the guys out of bed. They will be available somewhere if needed though.

Pretty much unusable here, API is up and down like a **'s draw's. Bets disappearing and the unsuspecting could easilly place them twice. Time for a break I guess.
