Bet id sneaking up (9997354939). Hope their field size is adequate!!
I doubt if there's anyone still there who remembers the design phase. It's quite obvious the current crew couldn't have got this site going.

The team that deals with general API support work office hours. They are not however the technical team(s) responsible for uptime. And my understanding is there is 24/7 cover on the tech side.

Someone posted yesterday morning, saying BF didn't know the API was down till he rang and told them. They had no backup power source at the "3rd-party data centre" last night. It's hard staying up 24/7 if you have outsourced to the lowest bidder. :D

The problem is we don't have anyone to speak to in the technical team responsibile for up time. We are told to ring the help desk like any other customer. The difference is that we are not just any other customer. We have hundreds of Betfair customers wanting an explanation for the down time and we can't give it to them.

They no longer feel the need to give meaningful explanations for downtime even after the fact. Unless it's a 3rd-party provider. I don't think they realise how revealing that is.

In the meantime, ******** about it isn't going to get it on-line any quicker is it?
Probably get it on line a bit quicker than burying our heads in the sand though Geek.
People are rightly f*cked off with the level of service they're receiving at the moment and imo have every right to highlight and moan about the issues. I'm sure most are aware it's hardly a walk in the park to keep this site running but making excuses for them everytime they** up upgrades etc isn't going to get them to sort out problems

No one is as pished off about this as we are. Remember in most cases an API vendors livelihood depends on Betfair, we are told as much as you are and every time it happens we get inundated with support queries as people think our products have gone wrong.
Being pished off is one thing and everyone is entitled to that, making stupid statements in anger that does no one any good is another.

The thing is we're not talking about uptime, we're talking about the API service

So you can bet your backside there is no higher priority than the stability of the site.
Profitabilty is one. 24/7 service uptime is complicated but not rocket science either. Proper investment and planning should see off the vast majority of problems.
The issues in the last 2 month indicate that something is going wrong somewhere. 8 hours of unplanned outage is really really quite shocking. Imagine vodafone going down for 8 hours, bank atms etc.
8 hours!!

There will be escalation process. If the root cause is nothing to do with API then no point getting the guys out of bed. They will be available somewhere if needed though.

Yes, but your livelihood isn't affected quite as directly as it is for us pro gamblers

The upside is that you can get some incredible value on the football this afternoon. (I've taken bets that would ordinarily never have been available).

Pretty much unusable here, API is up and down like a **'s draw's. Bets disappearing and the unsuspecting could easilly place them twice. Time for a break I guess.

They were pulled through embarrassment, which is not really the best way forward with regard to customer care.

The API is experiencing a degraded service, and has been for most of the day. We would like to apologise for the disruption caused by this. Our technical teams are working to resolve the ongoing issue.
What is a degraded service?

get back to doing mental arithmetic ya thick fckers
I would do, but I find it a bit difficult to calculate non-**genous Poisson distributions in my head

Just spoke to the Premium Helpdesk and was basically told to abandon all hope until tomorrow. I'd take that as good advice, and rather wish they'd put something as frank on the Service Announcements - save everyone a lot of wasted time and heartache.

Is it working now? Liquidity seems to be back to normal on football.
I'm having one of my most profitable days ever as a result of this. Some crazy prices.

Extremely good value! Are you making more than you normally do?

I've counted the API having crashed approx 10-12 times between 11am-8pm today! What is going on? It'll be interesting to see what happens during the horses tomorrow afternoon.

I'd suggest giving the API a miss until we've had a statement from the API team to say they've sorted out the problems (or at least that's what I'll be doing).
Guess they are back in work now - hopefully not sat around having a brew and a gossip though.

Degraded Service We have so far been unable to rectify the ongoing issues with the Betfair API.
You will currently experience an interrupted service.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
We will post updates as they become available on the Service section of the Betfair forum and the API System Status.

If they stopped the non-stop requests from penny pinching ferengi the api would only have to deal with a mere fraction of the requeasts it currently handles. It's akin to going into B&Q and not being able to move for school weans trying to buy sweeties that are being sold at a tenth of normal price. Are betfair being blackmailed by these useless cnuts?

Moon Light 01 Feb 15:53 Nothing on the Service forum. Feck blathering as usual. The Arcade and Casino are fecked as well, and it is clear that BF don't know what is wrong.
I bumped a fred about the Mafia for comment, has that been removed?
Also somebody else was talking about API and discovered that there is better money to be made manually.
