I remember in Italy when Robbie Keane was briefly there, they trialed the American style way of penalties, where you run with the ball from the half way line and go one on one with the keeper like in Hockey, it looked s*** and didn't last.

That's why you have 90 minutes to win. The better team should win it in that. I'm not against Extra Time, but if we get rid of it, straight to penalties makes sense to me.

Yes, regulation football is 90 minutes, eleven a side.
So if that doesn't settle it you need something else. A six a side game more closely resembles the real thing as you have all the elements of the sport; passing, tackling, heading etc Penalties is just too basic. An average player will score 75% of them. Five free kicks v goalie and wall would be better. |
