Big Sam has never had a really talented team to manage Reg - he would have got the best out of England at this tournament i reckon and we would have not lost from a winning position like that under him.

![]() I would have been quite happy for him to have stayed at EFC after he pulled us clear from the bottom three but the fans made it known they wanted a more sexy manager I'm sure some of our issues after that would not have happened with him in charge. |

Tuchel saying...no regrets...
I shouldn't think so, getting 5 million plus a year for about 12 games, nice work if you can get it Didn't blame himself for changes, no surprise |
|
By:
Agent Tuchel with a little grin in that interview, job done ?
|
|
By:
Anyone can lose a football match but the manner in which England lost to Argentina was simply unacceptable.
Tuchel must be sacked. |
|
By:
Reminds me of Moyes, go one up then defend for your lives (I know Dixie wont agree with me). That works sometimes against average sides but once the Argies were all over us he should have changed tactics as it was just a case of when not if they scored then of course no plan B once we went behind.

By:
worst part was wasting the last seven mins launching it long to a fckin center half!
|
|
By:
he was brought in to improve on what Southgate did and for those moments like last night - he failed
we had that great right back Konsa trying to put crosses in at the end Poor Declan was obviously knackered after his illness and was a shadow of himself but we will leave Eze and Mainoo on the bench and bring O Reilly on what was the point of having Kane on after the goal Saka surely must have been crocked not to get on See if Pep is interested Tuchel isnt that good and is wrong for England |
|
By:
There needs to be a full public inquiry.
Why were Mainoo, Toney etc. taken if they were never going to be used? Why was Rice ill? Why on earth did Tuchel think we could defend so deep for 20+ minutes? Last night was a complete shambles. |
|
By:
Mainoo, Toney etc. made the coffee for Henderson who made the coffee for everyone else.
|
|
By:
Lets face it we had a pretty easy group and beat the mighty Mexico and Norway just about
The first big test and he fails Both Eze and Mainoos game is linking play, receiving and keeping the ball which we needed last night Dan Burn for Gordon !! |
|
By:
Sorry Burn for James and Konsa for Gordon
|
|
By:
You don't put Mainoo on to defend a lead. Ultimately I think playing in Miami after Mex caught up with the players and they were knackered the last half hour.
I don't think the gameplan was to defend so deep for half an hour. That was caused by Arg pushing men forward and England back plus fatigue imo. He went ultra defensive on 82 mins only, brought Konsa on for Gordon and played a back 5 on 72 mins as Gordon was pushed back so far he was playing as a defender anyway. You have to look at Pickford for the first goal and the massive amount of space in the Arg right channel just outside the box while playing 5-4-1 and everyone back to defend a corner (which wasn't swung into the box). Where were the players who should have been in that space? That is Bellingham's space but he may have been defending the other side of the box for the corner. For the second goal Spence gets a kick, possibly a foul, and immediately stops defending and starts theatrics. You can't do that in a WC SF injury time. WTF was he doing? You can't just blame the manager here. He is not the only one who f'd up. |

Guardiola is not the right fit, he can sign players at club level who are technically brilliant from the keeper to the number 9, i.e. players who pass, move and turn in very quick time and in very tight spaces, players who constantly shift position to make themselves available to a teammate when they receive the ball, the triangles, England doesn't have that make up and we can't sign players for it. Our two best technical players are Phil Foden and Cole Palmer, Pep had Foden benched all season long bar a brief spell and made little effort to keep Palmer, if he doesn't rate our two best technical players what hope have the rest of the team got ?
We are a power play team, that's the characteristics of England, two quick wingers on either side, Gordon/Rashford and Saka/Madueke, full backs who like to bomb on and no true defensive midfielder who likes to do the dirty work. The anomaly to that is Kane who thinks he's some kind of Quarterback, he fails to show up in every single big game he's ever played bar a Micky Mouse German Cup final. Pep has ruined English football, his greatest achievement was not all the trophies he won playing out from the back, it was convincing everyone else they could play out from the back with far inferior players, he must have gone home every week laughing his head off after facing and walloping yet another pale imitation of his side. Only Klopps full throttle, high octane style and Arteta's Rugby tactics stopped him and you just know he has a begrudging respect for that despite patting other managers on the back for playing pretty football. He stole the soul of the English game by taking us away from the entertaining, attacking football we all knew, which may have been less sophisticated but was far more enjoyable, now the league is full up of copy cat continental managers boring us to tears with a possession based game, the fans come to the stadium with all the energy but it's quickly sapped out of them as they're forced to watch sideways and backwards football. I said at the time we should have tried to get Klopp, do you think he would have parked the bus, played 5 at the back and bring on 3 defenders defending a lead for half an hour with only 12% possession from goal til end of game with him in charge? No, he'd have gone for the juggler, worst thing was Tuchel lying, not admitting his mistake, saying he had no regrets, he's only honest when it suits him, need to get rid of this mug as soon as possible, taken the FA and the country for a ride. Kind Regards. |

think a very poor Onion side did a job on England, all that pressing nonsense for zero SOT and they were on their backs by the end.
|
|
By:
thats the point Southgate failed to defend leads - we were supposed to be getting a tactically astute coach that didnt just park the bus when we go 1-0 up
Mainoo keeps the ball and links play so does Eze. Even winning free kicks alleviates pressure Look at Spain last night 1-0 up and not a thought about parking the bus But the poor players must have been so tired I blame the manager for the ridiculous substitutions last night, trying to park the bus, and keeping a sick Rice on the pitch too long thereby losing the midfield |

I thought the England players looked a bit lethargic prior to and after scoring. I think they were showing symptoms of fatigue after their arduous games against Mexico (altitude) and Norway (heat). England also had 4 days less to recover (England played on 11th / Argentina played on 7th) from their 1/4-final.
Nevertheless, Tuchel made the subs. As such, he'd have to shoulder some of the blame. And, I'd back England for Euro 2028. |

that's not true, England played Norway and Argentina played the Swiss on the same day.
