I mentioned this before the tournament that england started with a disadvantage being in the last group so they had to play their possible 8 games in 6 less days then the 1st group
After beating croatia i would have played the 2nd choice players against ghana and panama instead of the same players being run into the ground , a squad of 26 and some players hardly played mainoo 0 minutes , watkins toney 6 minutes , kane might not have liked it but its a team game . |
|
By:
Mr SM - Argentina also started with the same "disadvantage" then as they played their first game on the same day as England did.
And they are in the final. |
|
By:
I'd give him another tournament... Who else is there?
|
|
By:
Good point about argentina , it was a general point , a squad of 26 and watkins and toney play 6 minutes , maybe they are scared to rest kane in case they dont win , if you cant beat panama with a 2nd england eleven then you might as well go home .
|

After Ghana and Panama ‘its difficult to break down these teams who just want to park the bus’
After Argentina ‘its difficult to park the bus against these teams who just want to attack’ |
|
By:
we go through this every time. i could see it backfiring if he switched the squad around but i did think the same about the gaps between games and the mexico trip was tough, followed ny the miami heat. But we weren't that convincing against congo or ghana before all that anyway. we just weren't good enough and got a bit lucky here and there, which was papering over the problems and then eventually we got found out.
the defensive substitutions didn't work and that's on him but we were getting pushed back for a while before he did them. it was very uncomfortable viewing |
|
By:
Yes its all ifs and buts , in an ideal world england could have taken players off early in the knock outs but they were only ahead by the odd goal in the first 3 games , maybe a fresher england could have gone 3 or 4 up against congo and rested players then .
|
|
By:
If you go to a tourny with a squad you should have every confidence that each and every one of them can do a job and play a full part.If you dont then your never gonna win anything.

Sorry, my mistake. England and Argentina played on the same day prior to the 1/2-final. I wonder why England looked lethargic prior to and after the goal against Argentina. I think the altitude and heat affected the England team more than Argentina; Bellingham alluded to that post their victory over Norway in the heat of Miami.
It was very difficult to watch England being pummelled. It was like watching a boxer repeatedly being knocked down until the referee stopped the fight. |

Thomas Tuchel blamed the "DNA" of English football for the national team's 2-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina
Tell him to sling his Hook ,who does he think he is ? He called it Wrong , This man is a Shyster , shift him |
|
By:
never mind tuchel out. should never have come in. an absolute chancer.
|
|
By:
The DNA of our team originates from m around the World , dreadful statement
is he known as Doctor Tuchel in the homeland ? |
|
By:
I don't see how he can go on.
A decent manager would have put pressure on the Referee by repeatedly hoping he was strong enough to handle Argentina's antics. A decent manager's ar**hole wouldn't have gone Full Gareth Southgate when we took the lead. He is a busted flush. The fans know it and so do the players. |
|
By:
He means the tendency to fall further and further back when ahead against top sides like Croatia 2018, Italy 2021 and Arg 2026. He is right, it is an English thing and there is no way he instructed his players to play like they did after 1-0. His subs and tactics were probably influenced by it too.
What is the point in replacing attackers like for like when you can't string 2 passes together. Between the England goal and the equaliser England attempted 8 passes and were successful with 2 - a pass from Pickford to Stones and a pass from Stones to Pickford. Blaming the manager for it all is idiotic. The players were more at fault and even with ultra defensive tactics you can point to major, basic individual errors for both goals - more at fault than the manager. |
|
By:
The players completely shát the bed. Kane did his usual dropping into midfield and going hiding, which only encourages the opposition to push up even more.
|
|
By:
How many players will speak up for Tuchel?
What do you think Bellingham is going to say when he's interviewed? The FA have to listen to him because he is the future of England. What would an England team be without Bellingham? |
|
By:
lurka just look at the substitutions.

This mug had 18 months to drill it into the players that they dare not regressed when taking the lead, he literally highlighted in the media several times before the World Cup the exact problems in Euro 2024 and before, the onus is on him, he simply bottled in the big moment with the decisions he made. His job should also have included drumming it in to the players if they did regress and sit deep when ahead he'll take off those players or they wont play the next game or both, if that was ever the real issue. The real issue was his decision making and substitutes, he literally invited Argentina onto the England team by giving up the middle of the park and playing 5 at the back which also clearly sends out a message to the team that 'we need to defend here'.
If you invite wave after wave of attack - what do you think it going to happen? eventually the tired players will end up making basic tired mistakes, England are not the best passing team but bring on fresh legs, bring on attackers and attempt to get the ball as far away from our goal as possible, but his personnel changes simply did not allow for that. He parked the bus, then when 2-1 down, he threw in a Hail Mary with 180 seconds left on the clock by bringing in two forwards. He was a rabbit in the headlights at the crucial moment and then he tried to shift blame onto the players. FA wont sack him, but they will in 2 years time when he fails us again. Kind Regards. |
|
By:
mes, Tuchel is a busted flush and the only reason he hasn't been sacked already is the FA just gave him a new mega contract.
But I think the pressure from fans and players will prove too much for him. |

What was the problem with the German DNA against Paraguay?
Tuchel has made nothing but comments blaming every one but himself Norway we were not great but both teams put a Shift in , both were wrecked is there anyone on here ,England Supporter , who wants him as manager ? After the latest Comment what.s going to happen tomorrow Night REBELLION ![]() |
|
By:
Even Trump has joined in criticising Tuchel!
He spoke of his friend Harry(Kane) who he once played golf with Saying he couldn't understand why you put a great attacker in defence But then again, he said, " what do I know about soccer?" |
|
By:
Or anything else?

Hindsight, is great , isn't it ?
What if, at 1-0 against auntie tina, we had gone at them full on, guns blazing, and lost ? What if, what if? That second goal woke England up, and, I thought, they did actually threaten, but with only ten minutes on the clock, well ... A spirited , gung-ho manager, would be worth a shot, but who would dare ? Damned if you do, damned if you don't And maybe, the play-safe mentality really IS so deeply ingrained the English psyche that we are just born losers. Surely in friendlies, they could give it ago, and to hell it. |
|
By:
There's a huge variation between gung ho and surrender
A better manager would have attempted to find it. I've seen Tuchel in action and he's usually out, sorting stuff. TV cameras didn't show us, so maybe he was trying to change it, but goalie should have been down, feigning leg injury before the equaliser and strong messages sent. |
|
By:
"Gung-ho" a poor choice of words I think.
Point taken yhtl. |
|
By:
why is he covering up his waistcoat with a shirt?

Incredible Trumpton is now a critic of champions league winning manager and taken England to their closest ever chance of making WC final since 1966.
America are surely taking the urine out the rest of world with this crackpot. |
|
By:
Trump should have been on phone to R&A getting Bryson Dechambeau's 2 shot penalty overturned rather than waffling on about soccerball

Robson Venables Southgate , Decent Managers didn't go about insulting the team
|
|
By:
All top managers insulted players right into their face and some swear words used, players can answer back, in the main they usually know it’s justified, they are quite happy to take the praise when you are doing ok
|
|
By:
What telling them its in their DNA ? Disgusting Comment , He is not wanted by the Majority of supporters
He will have lost the players Respect , Sadly they sorted a large contract For him Shift him ,are your Team looking for a Manager perhaps you could have him ,We don't want him END OF "All top managers insulted players right into their face" ,Indeed but Did they go public with their comments basically covering their own faults .. |
|
By:
All he had to say was we were Close to WC Final
perhaps I made the Wrong Call , Not Tommy , its everyone else fault |
|
By:
I didn’t read what he has said about DNA to be honest not sure that is clever thing to say, but I don’t believe the manager is to blame for losing late on WC semi final.
He could have been more offensive but if that had not worked he would have been blamed, if players can’t keep ball in WC semi final you are going to be very lucky to win it, and ultimately England’s luck run out. |
|
By:
I think England done ok, there migh have been over top expectations because they always go mad, which is a good thing in many ways fans getting excited, but the players were not good enough.

Most possessions won in the defensive third by an outfield player for England at the 2026 World Cup:
◉ 17 - Elliot Anderson ◎ 13 - Marc Guéhi ◎ 12 - Jude Bellingham ◎ 11 - Harry Kane ◎ 10 - Declan Rice Whoscored.com |

Not trying to be cheeky but can you summarise what that post means because I seriously no idea what you are trying to say relevant to the match v Argentina and how it was lost.
|
|
By:
It's all of England games, and number of balls won in back 3rd of the pitch.
Maybe it's skewed by defenders not playing all games, but you'd expect defenders and defensive midfield to be high up the list. Small data sets, 6 games, can throw odd results, but... |
