The way you typed that, made it sound like you were a betting shop manager from the age of 10

Has Mainoo been that good? I thought he'd had an indifferent season, apart from a couple of purple patches.

Defending has evolved
Attacking play has stagnated |

I'd always be an advocate of one of the big boys winning in the past but that is eroding, we've always had flair in the past that breaks the smaller sides down eventually, that is disappearing, organization and solidity is now the watch word.
Greece and Denmark have already won the Euros remember so there is a precedent for it. |

must apologise thought France forwards had no touches in the box, they had one between them

I thought that Denmark side were quite good to watch, tbf. Unlike Greece.

Dunno what anyone is watching to say it's inevitable that a 'big' nation is gonna win this.
Yes they always have won the WC before, but there has never been one where every game in the opening round between the top 8 in the betting and 100+ shots has just been completely even. There is no sign if any big gulf in class. |
|
By:
Would England be considered a "big" nation? They have only won this tournament once and that was 60 (sixty!) years ago.
|
|
By:
France haven't acclimatised yet, they were late in arriving. They will surely improve as the tournament goes on.

I've never seen Mbappe play this bad

You're just looking at the small picture, the big picture looks at the the number of games needed to get through + the strength in depth of these squads, you might get a Morocco in the semis again, or a Turkey/South Korea from 2002, but no nation of that type is going to get the final let alone win. Plenty of examples of big nations making slow starts in World Cups gone by only to click into gear as it gets going.

a draw will not be a bad result for France, especially with this format, save Mendy.

Maybe. But the big Euro teams look the most tired already. Especially if their players went deep in that club world cup rubbish, they've been playing virtually non stop for 22 months.
An athletic team with limited skill will always be able to close down a superior team that can only play at walking pace. |
|
By:
Anywhere else on the pitch he stays on his feet , as soon as he goes in the area he goes down , always going down before contact
|
|
By:
pen given

Agree with Mes, most of the first lot of world cup games aren't great, and a lot of the winners start slowly, there will no doubt be some surprises but I would expect at least 3 0f the 4 semi finalists will be the big teams.
