I see there's no mention of a keeper going down with cramp
or when Saka thinking he was in goal when he caught the ball in that post. |

Fact,
“ This is not what we might call dominance, admittedly, but it is still dominance: the ability to stop the other team playing. The game was played on Arsenal’s terms, to Arsenal’s liking. They set the tempo: staccato, interrupted, discordant. They determined the rhythm. They did not have possession, but they had control.” Rory Smith, The Observer. |

Got to be fair and say that Arsenal defended very well. PSG didn't really get a sniff of goal. No arguments there at all.
However, Arsenal were fortunate with the first goal, it was ricochet that fell sweetly into Havertz' path; it wasn't a good play (it was a reasonable finish though), it was a slice of luck, which allowed Arsenal to do what Arteta creams about... defending a lead. Had Arsenal not had that slice of luck and PSG had scored first, then Arsenal would have had no choice but to recover, and this is where PSG probably would have ran riot. The penalty was a given when I saw it in real time; I was actually shocked when he didn't give it, but on seeing the replays from different angles, it was the correct decision after all. No excuses, Arsenal need to open up and play like all good champions do. Under Arteta and from my perspective, that is never going to happen. |

Nasty **** thread this. Pathetic sad Arsenal haters outdone themselves...

Storm, it has nothing do with Arsenal haters. Spurs' fans perhaps, but the rest of them hate what they see in Arteta's Arsenal... and who can blame them? It really isn't nice football to watch.

A really good striker and left winger and they're probably a top team. Oh, and give Rice the armband.

they've got 2 england left wingers and play them on the right,so I assume everyone saying arsenal need a left winger mean they need a RIGHT WINGER playing down the left, or am I missing something ?

Porky is right about the way Arsenal approached yesterdays game (lower league club taking on an EPL club in the cup), i said the same to my lot during the game.
For the champions of the so called "best league in the world" to adopt such an approach was basically footballing cowardice. And they got what they deserved in the end. Their one and only effort on target in 120 minutes was the goal they scored in the SIXTH minute, this regrettably led to a very drab spectacle for the rest of the match. All of the Gooners saying other fans are "haters" miss the point imo. It's not the club that are disliked, but the way they play. They do have good players but choose to play in an unattractive style that is anathema to the neutral football lover watching their games. I loved watching Arteta when he was playing for the toffees, skilful and a great passer of the ball. Shame his team don't play with the same style he did. The Arsenal team of 20 years or so ago with Henry and co were much envied, but not hated. Dela has completely lost the plot with his rants today. Quoting Rory "Gravy Trainer" Smith ffs . And decrying the "antics" of the PSG players when the Arsenal guys have been doing the same throughout the EPL season - irony, much ? |

I think arsenal took the right approach.
If penalty was given, they win. Small margins, innit. If you want to open it up against psg it doesn't end well. |
|
By:
Dour match, I personally expected that, was hoping the English team won because of company I was in. Only seen PSG penalty once, looked soft, the Arsenal claim late on, not for me but would not have been astonished if awarded.
Bad way for any team to lose, but nobody has come up with better idea. Hope WC is more entertaining. |

Dixie D nails it: For the champions of the so called "best league in the world" to adopt such an approach was basically footballing cowardice.
|
|
By:
The PSG pen was nailed on Malay, Mosquera was a tad fortunate to stay on the pitch as he was already on a yellow.
The Arsenal claim did look like a pen in real time but replays showed the ref was right. One of those where VAR may not have overturned if given. |
|
By:
Dixie I will take your judgment on PSG penalty, I only seen it once, I had to run out and find my wee dog,and we don’t have commentary on so no idea what they said.
It was not an entertaining final but as said previously I didn’t expect anything different. |

A spot on (imo) article about the TNT coverage yesterday, amusing too ![]() |
|
By:
I don't know how replays showed it wasn't a pen
He's clearly got hold of him in the box, it's a penalty if he sees it Lino cannot give it as he has no depth and cannot see through them Var doesn't want to get involved, fair enough. |
|
By:
as NEVIN pointed out on BBC highlights, the NONI foul was a trip/contact outside the box 1st and any foul inside the box was initiated by NONI ,s arm, holding the defender, good spot that no one on TNT coverage mentioned in 2 hr despite a dozen replays shown
|
|
By:
That is right 1tp - had the PSG defender made the initial contact in the box then a pen would doubtless have followed, as it was the tussle continued in to the area, where Madueke was then clearly holding the defenders arm, not the other way round.
|
|
By:
Madueke has his arm after they enter the box
Foul starts outside continues inside and then maduekes arm can do little else than impact the psg player. It's hard to see, and as above probably not for var. Once the pundits have told you what's happened it becomes a common argument. |
|
By:
some refs would have given a pen for the Saka "handball" in the first half - so both teams were actually denied one

Psg got penalty v Newcastle for more or less exactly same as saka handball.
The interpretations of the law seem to change weekly. |
|
By:
That's why VAR should go. Not only is it open to interpretation, it has the ability to be manipulated and therein lies the problem. This should never be an option in the game yet it is.
Moot point in reality though considering all the clubs voted to keep it ![]() |

I ain’t lost no plot Dixie, PSG aren’t the world beaters that they’ve been hyped to be.
Arsenal won a shat league as I said a while back, I also said that they won it without a striker! ![]() |

And for the record this Englishman cheered Villa & Palace because I’d prefer to see us beat these European pigs that you lot all cream over.

By:
They need to write the handball law so it can be understood.
It's ridiculous that handball in Epl is different to handball in Ucl... But that tells you it's badly written. Saka is perfect example, it's only handball when they want it to be. |
|
By:
I’ve also criticised Farteta for his subs and tactics, compared him to being as astute as Southgate was in the heat of the moment.
When the opposition is wobbling and they looked shaky at the back, you go for the jugular. |

By:
Sakka looks shagged and like a horse had lost a step.
How the other prem teams let Pep buy Simeno and Gayie without contest I’ll never know? Saliba is a shadow too. |

European pigs
And when I say that for clarity I mean these pigs dressed up as silk purses like Dembelle who I’ve said I don’t rate and many of the others who are held in such high regard by the pundits. I think we’re in a drought of real stars. |

Police are investigating a night of absolute chaos after an estimated one million fans lined the streets for Arsenal's trophy parade.
The historic celebrations were sadly marred by violence later in the evening, with six people stabbed and 24 arrested - including three on suspicion of sexual assault. Looks like Storm Alert made it to the parade last night... ![]() |
