Arsenal played in the Europa League for several seasons. Don't go telling us that you wouldn't have loved to win it. Why can't you be happy for your long-suffering neighbours?

Happy for Spurs?

Are you a football fan or know anything about it?

Take four FA cups in last 11 years in our trophy cabinet over one Europa League Cup everytime.

Easy to qualify for CL via PL position; well not if you finish 17th of course. Will be very surprised if Ang survives to next season after yet another embarrassing home defeat.

Here is my pennyworth on the gooners.

i think they have a decent manager and i d defo stick with him. they were in free fall when he took over and allbeit hes won nothing he has taken them to a premiership contending team and done well in champions league.

he defo needs more time and i think he can achieve something- beside which what are thwe alternatives.

arsenals problem is they cannot finish teams off -way too many draws againsy inferioior teams and they need to find moregoals.

stick with it gooners - you will get there in the end ifyo stick with the manager and make a few really good signings to strengthen the team.

btw **** the old guys off eg jesus etc they are spent

Arsenal would be too embarrassed to parade a 2nd tier European trophy around the streets, that's why we're the pride of North London. Kind Regards.

However, Henry, a 1998 World Cup winner with France, believes Atletico Madrid’s former Manchester City hitman Julian Alvarez could be the answer to their problems.

He said: “One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julian Alvarez. We’ve been talking about it, putting pressure, playing alone, low, whatever you want to do. Did you see the free-kick he scored the other day?

“He can hold the ball alone, he played at the Olympic Games, he played in the Copa America. I don’t hear him saying, ‘I’m tired’ or not tired. Hopefully nothing bad is going to happen to him. He’s played everything and the way he plays, I just like him.”

I like Alvarez too. Not sure it is likely though.

But Storm Alert that is the point I am picking with Wd.  He slated the Spurs trophy cabinet, as being small and flimsy - his remarks not mine - whilst I pointed out that there was a trophy in it.  Now.  At present.  Curfently.  Not historically.
It didn't matter a jot to you Arsenal fans at the time you got Wenger the boot ,that historically he had won trophies did it!
Trophy cabinets are useless without one in it.  Innit?!
At present,.........Spurs 1, Arsenal nil.

Didn't Arsenal win the CWC in 1994 and the Fairs Cup in 1970 ?

Spurs have 8 FA Cup wins, most recently 1991.

Spurs also won the CWC but I don't even count that as an honour.

You're really scrapping the barrel with the Fairs Cup.Laugh "As the name suggests, the competition was set up to promote international trade fairs. Friendly games were regularly held between teams from cities holding trade fairs and it was from these games that the competition evolved. Initially, the competition was only open to cities that hosted trade fairs, and where the cities' clubs finished in their national league had no relevance. Early competitions also featured a "one city, one team" rule, with some teams selected from multiple clubs. Due to the one city one club rule, in several seasons London entered a team that consisted of mixed players from various London clubs, the team was called London XI."

I think it is more than a stretch to say Spurs are on top but they still, four days after we stated debating the issue, have one more trophy in the cabinet than the Arsenal.
Facts are facts chaps.

Sofa - you may not count the CWC as an honour but the record books do. And you can't really argue with that.

arteta has been a massive underachiever for a club that should have won at least one title in his tenure, poss 2

Maybe but he has steadied the ship and if the new transfer guy can get his sheite together Arsenal will be in a position to challenge with 3 acquisitions. It is hard to win a league without a centre forward.

Criticism to Arteta is  due but  look at Manchester United, Manchester City, Totteringham. Look how much money Chelsea have spent and how many players have been accumulated. Newcastle are a one city club but now owned by a Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Only one team have been well managed. They are also the team who suffered the least injuries to key players. If they suffer as few next season then well done they are doing something right.

Liverpool have also identified areas to strengthen. They got Frimpong for almost free ( £10m for Trent! ) and worryingly  are going for  Wirth, which, will give them better attacking options.most frighteningly they might be going for an exciting striker. That would move  the goal posts and make Arteta’s job much more difficult.

Chelsea might be getting two decent strikers to go with a tough midfield.

City might do better but I doubt will challenge Liverpool.

I don’t know who you would get to replace Arteta. Be careful what you wish for. Curbishly has taken Charlton as far as he can!
