Great results for Stevenage tonight. I'm starting to believe the impossible might be possible, for arguably the smallest club in the division, even though it's fair to say we've had some soft fixtures so far this season.
Stevenage FC has outlined its intention to remain stable but competitive within EFL League One this season – with increased playing budget and sustainable aspirations. Starting its third year in League One, and after more than 25 years under the ownership of Phil Wallace, the club were one of the best performers for points-per-pound spent last season and increased commercial revenues to the highest in its history. “More was spent on players in this league last season than the previous eight years put together, that shows the level we are competing at,” said Wallace. The Club currently has its biggest ever shirt deal in Los Angeles-based video games company Xsolla and has taken over a fourth club-owned site to accommodate Stevenage FC Women and provide local sport and education facilities to the town - which itself is growing fast as part of £1 billion investment over the next 20 years. "By working smart and very much together, we have overperformed where we ought to be in the league based on what we spend on playing budget. The town as a whole is really going places. For example, Stevenage is fast becoming the beating heart of the UK’s space and life sciences industries, where global science meets local innovation. “Few towns can say they help build machines for Mars. Stevenage can - with the ExoMars Rover built right here by Airbus. We have built a football club that can go toe to toe with the likes of Luton Town, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and Plymouth on merit this season”. |

a few thoughts on games this weekend.
Donny lost 3 on the bounce and home to Burton who beat cardiff at Cardiff in mid week. 4/1 given those facts might look big. I have backed Lincoln to beat Exeter - see my thread for details. Stevenage at 2/1 look big v Luton - see my thread for comments. I watched Stockport v Reading last week and both teams look poor up front so i wouldnt be surprised to see both teams draw again. |

TOP FACTS - Who scored?
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Northampton's last 8 games (League One). Blackpool have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 8 matches against AFC Wimbledon in all competitions. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 10 of Bolton's last 12 games (League One). |

Ive decided not to goto watch Stockport this weekend but hopefully they can beat blackpool. Its a no bet game for me as stockport look a tad short at 1.77 . I dont like betting against teams that have changed managers -so no bet for me.
My main bet this weekend is Northampton to beat Rotherham. I have also backed Wimbeldon (7/4 looks a decent price foa team that has won 4 on the bounce) to beat Port Vale and Boalton to win at Burton. |

Great win for Bolton at Huddersfield last night and happy with that as had a small interest bet on the away win.
Ive had an interest in PORT VALE at 9/5 (3 wins 2draws in last 5) to win at Wigan (lost 3 in 4). BRADFORD 23/20 AND STOCKPORT 8/15 HOME Win double looks solid. Lincoln (6th) v Stevenage (top) is fascinating but no idea who might prevail Stevenage are going great guns and are top but they have played every game apart from one v bottom half teams. the one they did play was huddersfield in 8th which they lost so im taking their current position with a degree of caution. Lincoln have a similiar profile with only 2 games v teams in top 10 with win loss and 1 draw - both away.. surprisingly lost to Exeter last week. Stevenage at 12/5 are surprisingly big imvho. Burton in good form cd beat Peterborough ? no bet though. Gl if you have any bets in this league |

Blackpool have drawn their last 6 home matches against Wycombe in all competitions. 12/5
Reading have drawn their last 3 matches (League One). 17/5 14/1 double |

Last nights turnaround in injury time by Bolton, could be the beginnings of a charge imo. Arguably the best team in the division this season.

Bolton v Cardiff is a big game today. Top v 7th. Bolton 11/10 unbeaten at home with 4 wins and two draws. Cardiff unbeaten away at 13/5. Hard one to call - maybe a draw at 11/4.?
Another big one is Stevenage 2nd v Bradford 3rd. I fancy an away win here 2/1 based on Bradfords excellent form v top teams won 4/4 v top 8 and Stevenages poor form v the same lost 2/2 and that they have largely played lower table teams to date 8 at 11th and below. this is their first home game v top 10 team so shd be interesting. I have had a TOO BIG on Nothampton 14/5 v Luton. Luton are in poor form with 4 losses 1 draw and a win in last 6.Bit risky as cobblers form is not brilliant but they have 5 wins in 9 so worth a small punt at that price. Stockport 9/5 are in good form unbeaten in 6 with 4 wins and 2 draws so im hoping they can win at PORT Vale on Monday evening. Vales home form is poor with one win in 6 so 9/5 looks attractive. No other bets for me in this league other than LINCOLN at 9/5 to win away at ORient who have lost 4 in 5. Lincoln only lost 1 in 10 with 6 wins in that period. Reading shd beat an out of form Donny with basement dwellers playing each other Peterborough v Blackpool (Posh have the better form) GL all and lets hope for a successful betting weekend. |

That looks a good price about Lincoln who I think will win easily. I think I will have some of that too, The Dragon. So far I've only backed Middlesbrough and Fleetwood. After some thought I changed my mind about the L2 outfit who are unbeaten in the last 4 home matches.
Good luck today. |

thanks foin gl with yours also

Stanley were all over Fleetwood in the first half, I should learn not to change my mind.

My side (Bradford) are a good side this year dragon - but I fear the markets are catching on, making us same/shorter than the home side Stevenage today, given they are actually still above us and with home edge.
Course I hope we beat them, but not sure I could back at this price. |

ok thanks stu, i hope your pessism is miss placed i fancy them today

Bit of a driffy for your boys stu at mighty Stevenage. Perhaps the smallest team in the league in terms of history and support against one of biggest. Stevenage close to full strength and have their best squad ever (as seen by how well the 2nd string is doing in the EFL Trophy) Kemp is the playmaker, the other forwards work their socks off and the centre halves are the leaders. Normally used to a sea of changes over the Summer, but the club has managed to retain their better players lately. Always think the bubble is about to burst though.

Yes, your lot have done extremely well so far this season CB, as you say comparing the size of the club for this league level. But you've deserved those results so far, which is why I didn't underestimate them in betting today. I'm still hoping we can nick this one, as it would be a top result for us - hope you do well rest of the season though.

Two games tonight and both pretty hard to call.
Bradford 4th v Lincoln 6th is tough to call with both teams in good form. Bradford are very strong at home with 5 wins and a draw. Lincolns away form is ok but they have not won away in the three games they have palyed againdst teams above 15 th posi. HOME win for me at a decent price of 6/5. Second game is Mansfield v Plymouth. Plymouth have had a funny season , terrible start followed by a good period and now have had 2 losses and a draw in the last 3 games. they have lost 4 out of 6 away games and all games to teams at the higher end of the league. Mansfield are currently 8th. Mansfield have lost 1 in 6 but have drawn 3 of them.their home form v teams 14th and below is 3/3. plymouth are 22nd. Ive gone for a HOME win at 6/5. Also done the home win double |
|
By:
stockport at 6/5 v under performing luton look an attractive bet tomorrow,
stockport won 4 on the bounce and 5 in 6. unbeaten in 7. and top of the table luton lost all 3 away games v top teams and won 1 in 6 v top 8 |
|
By:
Stockport had a chance to come back at 0-2, penalty saved. A third with a breakaway. How it goes sometimes.
Looks like JW is getting a bit of shape into the side, plenty of good players that needed some structure about their game. Three home games out of four against lower sides gives him an opportunity to go a bit further up the league. Hope so. |

football can be cruel sometimes
vwd barstool great result for the hatters |

had a bet on Peterborough 9/4 to win at Doncaster tomorrow.
4th placed Lincoln at home shd beat bottom club Port Vale and 21/20 looks an attractive price. Luton v Bolton big game, draw probably the outcome. |

2 out of three aint bad

Wigan Athletic are hosting Burton Albion tonight.
With the 0-0 home draw against Stevenage, Wigan Athletic shared the points, extending their unbeaten run to 5 matches in the league. Burton Albion have ended a 4-match unbeaten run in the league after their 0-4 home defeat against Leyton Orient. i fancy a draw on this one |
|
By:
1-0 wigan, burton cdnt find the equaliser

|
By:
home win double for bolton 10/21 and cardiff 3/4 are my bets in this league this weekend
|
|
By:
i have backed Peterborough to beat Port Vale this weekend at 11/5.
Hoping Stockport can win away at Mansfield as their away form is pretty decent only losing 2 in 9 with 5 wins. mansfield only won 1 in 7. 11/10 is a bit skinny mind |
