I used to save the boosts for weeks where there were two fixtures. It used to happen a few times a season but last year hardly at all. It may be a thing of the past now.

I won’t use any early. Maybe the transfer wildcard if things aren’t going well!

I think defenders are overlooked by many because
there have been more goals of late so need to splash cash
on strikers, att mids.

Can get away with 3 defs most weeks so spending
slot on a 5th def can be wasteful.

Lots of folk stuck esteve of Burnley as 5th def as hes
only 4mil and likely plays when fit.

I think somebody like tarkoski or murillo who you
may already pick will pick up quite a few defcons
whereas some others at their level last year might not.

They talk about centre halfs being cats or dogs
where cats are reactive and mop up, whereas dogs
make loads of challenges... Deffo advantage dogs.

Same here.  Have changed several times, most lately with Colwill’s injury.
My strategy is this.
Pick two cheapest goalies - one to play throughout the other to sit out, and never to transfer ( unless circs. absolutely dictate the necessity ).  Reason: 30 points is about the maximum I will lose over a season in using a middle achieving goalie so very little lost and 1.0 is saved price wise and transfers not used available in other areas with better r.o.i. through season.
Picking no City players at all until I see who will play.  Guardiol a defensive like and will bring in if featuring.  No Haaland until he shows he is scoring/in form. Crazy?  Can afford to see first week and find out Pep’s current mindset.
No Salah, for much the same reason as Haaland.
Three players picked - Palmer, B. Fernandes and Watkins, to be ever presents unless injured, thus freeing up transfers.  On the basis that over an injury-free season they will score their usual fine quota of points.  Captaincy to be interchangeable between these three.
New big buys, like Cunha, Wirtz and others under review.  2.5 to 3.0k kept in reserve to facilitate regular transfers.
As much as possible have all my first side playing at home.  Has to be an advantage, of sorts?
Finally, no knee jerk changes, after first and second matches. NONE. No trigger finger!
Target - win one week, make above 60% area.  Let’s face it, none of us are going to win the first prize, are we?! 

My logic is a carp goalie costs 4m and a good one 5.5m

Even at 30points difference it's good use of 1.5m

Of course it there's a decent 4 or 4.5 goalie then
everybody will jump on.

Absolutely and verbruggan is a decent pick anyway.

I've got Raya (142 last year)
Verbruggan and 1 mil in bank.. 103 last year

Both have potential to improve on last season too.

Ha ha, there are so many players available in fantasy that gathering opinions
is a huge help, and puts players higher up my must
check out list.

and kept waiting for them to stop scoring...

Can use that to select defenders you can rotate
at start of season to give you favourable fixtures
every week.

So rotating a West ham and man utd defender
Or a cheap wolves and Tottenham def pair up well.

My goal is to finish top half of the betfair league... and over 2000 points (not very ambitious) Baby steps...

My best finish in this format in 3 years is 115,000

I'd like to do substantially better, I was top 1000
a few times in telegraph, but you sort of need
to get the big decisions right from the start.

I'm pretty sure telegraph started a few weeks
into the season so had better idea of starting
teams and fewer transfers through the season
and no captain, and no chips.

Adapting to this format taking a while...

Oh!  I see. He's a ringer then .. 12 year veteran (some nice scores) but new to our league... I'd make him the favorite.. imo...

And you.  Have declined Betfair fitty league.  Will just play away and keep up with this thread.
On Salah I feel he might just have a quieter season but we’ll just have to see.
