my memory is that spain had a perfectly good goal disallowed for offside in that game.
southgate planning for a penalty shoot out seems about right ![]() |

We will fight them on the costas...

I think that's right jolly from memory

So a good record in competitive games ?
|
|
By:
Spain were best team in world for much of that time
Maybe they are again. We have good players, and they looked up for it from the start v Holland. Need that again. |

First major final on foreign soil...
Wokies say new zealand |
|
By:
We just have to stay in it until Watkins and Palmer come on
![]() |
|
By:
WC in 82 ... Brooking and Keegan came on late and Keegan missed a header. 0-0
I think we needed to win by 2 clear goals in second little group stage |
|
By:
Go for it , Lucky we are in the Final ,Played very well First half tonight , all we need is a load of shyte and getting hammered
lets have a game to remember ![]() amazed we are in the final TBH cant knock Southgate on his record , If he pulls this off will certainly have proved millions wrong including me ![]() |
|
By:
From what I recall they had 2 legit goals disallowed! - even worse for them than i remembered.
maybe lucky southgate can beat that and benefit from three disallowed goals. |
|
By:
apart from having the silliest haircut in the competition.....cucurella will know how good palmer is and will be passing that on so if palmer starts will have a special marker...probably 2 to stifle his game but that could provide other openings with the correct team selection.......lets just hope its not a repeat of the italy game...

The euphoria is great and all but the reality is that England has beaten 6 teams in which they were favourites to win.
But now they're 3.6 to beat Spain. Can only give him any credit if he wins the tournament, watching the way Spain pass and move the ball, I struggle to see England coping with it given how poor we are at pressing, he should start Shaw but will probably start Trippier on the left which is like playing with 10 men, same as it was with Foden on the left. Trippier can't can't cross, pass or shoot with his left and at one point couldn't beat a man and pass the ball all the way back to Pickford. However, Spain were hanging on in the end against France who were better than them in the second half, and France have been as average as England have. Only way England wins is to go for it and not sit back waiting to go behind, Safegate has never really been a frontfoot sort of manager, the only hope is he shocks us by betting brave and gets at them from the off. Kind Regards. |

1945 - Labour landside..... England conquer Europe
1997 - Labour landside..... England win Eurovision 2024 - Labour landside..... It's coming home?? |

By:
this year im off to sunny spain et viva espanya
only one winner in this game.. all over spain at that price amazing |
|
By:
8/5 wow
|
|
By:
I'd have thought Shaw might get the start now..
played about 40-45 mins against Switzerland with ET , and a full half last night...would feel ready to start even if you only get 65-70 mins.. |
|
By:
Against yamal...and Williams on the other side...!
Easy to drop back into a back 5 against them, which would be against our best chances, surely can't play Saka against Williams so Trippier may end up on right ? |
|
By:
certainly possible but if you're actually bold - neither of those (Yamal. Williams) are at their best putting in a shift the other way..
|
|
By:
spain will tear that defence a new one for sure
firstb decent team england have met and it will show |
|
By:
just not sure how you fit Saka in if Tripps goes to RB and don't see him missing out..been back close to his best last 2 games..
|
|
By:
doesnt matter what team or format he goes for spain just too good for them
|
|
By:
probably Dragon...but one off games (especially finals) can be mad...think Utd/Citeh less than a couple of months back...
|
|
By:
Deffo. And Trippier tends to hold higher position
than Shaw or walker... Not as high as saka, obviously. Could go to back 4 even, with Gallagher coming in as extra midfielder. Southgate might stick though! |
|
By:
england fans living in dreamland reality is about to bite
|
|
By:
We are used to losing dragon, it doesn't matter..
But... “It’s not beyond our wildest dreams, because we did have wild dreams.” Sir Bobby Robson. |
|
By:
we're not really expecting Dragon...hoping..
I've backed Spain at 1.75 to lift the trophy |

bobby robson deserved towin a title.. this pathetic manager deserves to win fick all and i hope he doesnt.. it wd bev a travesty fot good fotball if this manager wins anything
lets get a new manager who plays decent football and we win the next world cup if he stays we are ficked |
|
By:
brentford
city losing to united is not comparable. this is a differrent level |
|
By:
most of Robson's tenure was bang average..
|
|
By:
Euro 88 was poor, wc 90 brilliant
Same guy. Highlight of 88 was Tony Adams pishing his bed. |
|
By:
I like Bobby a lot
but 84 did not qualify 86 - lost to a very average Portugal, drew 0-0 with Morocco 88 - lost to Ireland, Netherlands and USSR 90 drew with Ireland scraped past Egypt..struggled past an average Belgium and Cameroon wasn't all beer and skittles to say the least.. |
|
By:
he was working witha much poorer qualityproduct and still shd have won the world cup but for very bad luck in the semi final
shitgate got a much better product and still is fickng it up and has more luck than the winner of the lottery when he jacks it in he will not get a top job in football as everyone knows the **** manager that he is |
|
By:
And we suffered by clubs not playing in Europe.
Made it a different ball game for England. |
|
By:
the European ban is certainly a very fair point..
plenty of top class players in those England sides and often chose not to play Hoddle... |
|
By:
back in 88 or when we qualified for 88 euros
Robson had to fight to get games postponed so players might be fresh for trip to yugoslavia. |
|
By:
different world back then. shitgate doesnt know how lucky he is for being shuch a hopeless manager. just ask boro fans
