He'll be laying West Ham and Everton, regardless of if they take the lead.

I reckon he'd lay a 28 to win £50.

Problem with this betting (backing odds ons or laying odds against, same thing ).....

Is, as Brentford and some other pointed out earlier, that no one can be sure how many games is going to give a true reflection of whether the methods are sustainable.

I don't doubt (unlike some others) that LumpOn made the claimed profit in the 1st year. Seems he maybe bet on 100-150 games and was 30k up.

But there is no reason to suppose the next 150 games will give a similar outcome, and no reason they wouldn't give a big loss instead.

Unless the selection method has a genuine edge in identifying value.. But how many games will determin this for sure? Who knows, maybe thousands.

I had a laying system for horse years ago. I might lay odds on or 14/1 or multiple runners in a race, but on average was laying a 5/1 horse each race.

After 300+ races my bank had gone from £100 to £340. 'Obviously' if I won over so many races the system worked. But I did hundreds more races and never made any further profit.

your bank went from 100 to 340 because the horses 5/1 to 14/1 didnt win many of the first 300 races. When they started winning more races, it wouldnt take many winners at double digits to prevent your bank from increasing. Go through your figures again and you'll see that sub 5/1 showed consistent profits throughout

My results today... +8.4 laying low odds. +25.2 backing higher odds.

And you also altered your criteria half way through which had an effect.

Ah, I remember I used to discuss it with you on Gen Betting forum, 2010, and you were trying something similar

I don't recall what I changed tbh

I did have the results from March-June 2010 saved on a spreadsheet

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D38a5fo2a-w25-z8uCEALOnoqgloWvlS1lzLdnhoq94/edit?hl=en&pli=1&hl=en&pli=1#gid=0

That was 662 races. Seems the highest point of bank was £312 near the end. But I got to £300 in just over 300 races and then just snakes and ladders.

I had 2 further attempts later on, maybe another 400 races, but just was a small loss from those. So about 1,000 races and the profit was in the 1st third of that.

you changed the % criteria because some were going way lower than the price you took. This meant some were now unmatched. You should have gone the other way, matching more runners. On-course bookies dont fret if they lay 3/1 early for something that goes off 9/4, otherwise they would offer 9/4 early and take alot less money

You made 89.7 points profit from 662 bets. 13.54%. It is a roller coaster. On course bookies dont win every day.

I posted England were coming home and Mr Southgate would be sacked imminently with a minute maybe 2 to go on sunday. I walked away to do other domestic stuff and came back about 10 mins for confirmation; England 2-1 up in extra time. I did not see Bellingham's or Kane's goals.
