He had every right to go down after the most minimal contact.

"He was clearly offside."

Yet forgot to mention it before the VAR decision.

"Taking one for the team" - a feeble excuse used to ignore a blatant premeditated foul designed to stop an attack, eespecially when the defence is outnumbered.

Should always be a red card, but never is.

I always think "take two for the team then"  when the foul is against my team.

Haaland would have never been able to have the freedom of the box in those days, hed have had lumps kicked out of him and hed have started sulking after the first tackle in my opinion

The game is beyond a joke for me in that regard, youve got a game that protects mard ar3es like Ronaldo/Messi/Haaland yet youve got a system that always wants to chalk goals off and keep the scorelines down Crazy its a right mess and whoever runs it is a fooking mor0n Plain

Messi and the others would have never wracked up the goals they have in a era where the game was actually a game

Haaland would have been one of those kids that threw a strop after one ankle biter tackle

I can see it in his expressions, a right little mardy bast@rd that will throw a right hissy at the first dry spell he has trust me

Wait until he has a dry spell and those calfs muscles are aching, he’ll be moaning to the ref for “protection”

My hate is the over use of the phrases like “hes not human” and “hes out of this world”

Or “legend” and “goat”

But the not human thing is just designed to make us all feel totally fooking inadeqate ffs, we cant possibly ever be at that level and to not even try

Fact is.. get those lot down to a park game and see how long they last when they aint got the “protection” of the fairy game they get to play in

Look how amgry they get when some of those “legends” play in that charity game for (england vs rotw) at wembley every year, when they actually get tackled they look puzzled.

Low Block and Through The Lines are the two that every modern day pundit has to say. Also using numbers instead of positions when describing a players whereabouts on a pitch.

Not sure it fits in this thread, but players not celebrating a goal to "show respect" to the other team and their fans. It's a football game, celebrate it as you would any other goal.

was just said to describe this Portugal vs Uruguay game.

When commentators reel off stats about past records between teams. Unless they refer to roughly the same squads and/or management, ie recent records, then the stats are totally irrelevant. If Southampton have not won at Aresenal since 1952 or whatever, what possible relevance can that have on today's outcome?

If a team has recently been beaten by their next opponents, commentators always say that "they are out for revenge". It is not revenge, which sounds like something from gang warfare, they simply want to win the game.
