|
By:

And he is right in what he says .

ok but my take was ; if you take out the england bit and just discuss var, it was supposed to remove doubt and become a check, yet in this tourn we've had slightly different use and for sure we've still had doubt and controversy, so where's the consistency? personally i wanted an eng win both as a patriot and for financial reasons, but my initial reaction was soft penalty and i felt sorry for the danes,a decislon like that against us and i'd be really pished off with the ref

It's ankle deep in tears on here today.

By:
how is it tears, if you love football it's about the way the sport is run and officaited, if that's too much for you to cope with maybe try the bowls forum

perhaps you should stop and think for 5 mins before you post the same dull bollx , give your brain a chance to catch up with the debate and then you might have a more rounded and intelligent approach rather than proving you have a single figure iq?

var has had a turbulent introduction to football.
most folk seem to agree it should be there to correct howlers. its been used, in past to nit pick tiny incidents and it simply cant be used for that as there are 1000s in every game. cricket uses a degree of error, and its just accepted as being about the best they can get. line calls are fairly simple, as per tennis, but it still misses the odd goal, and again sadly its just try to improve it from missing 1 in 7000 tight line calls to 1 in 70,000, on so on. |
|
By:
var is not hugely better than what we had before, still make fck ups and still inconsistent
|
|
By:
we can look forward to a final, as portman alluded to, if we're on the end of a bad call we'll all be pished off
|
|
By:
im happy to continue to wind up folk trying to wind up others
and debate seriously with those that prefer that approach |
|
By:
weve had bad calls before, and good ones
thats sport, and it will continue. |
|
By:
exactly, but is it right in a major tournament to be on the end of iffy calls, i don't think so
|
|
By:
its always going to happen to some degree
and micro reffing by var was a disaster. let ref do his best with var for howlers let the setthers seethe and we can all enjoy that too. |

there shouldn't be any VAR controversies in England's Euro 2020 semi-final showdown with Denmark because referee Danny Makkelie is an expert working with the technology Dutch referee Danny Makkelie will take charge of England's game with Denmark Makkelie worked with VAR when it was first introduced and is a bit of an expert |
|
By:
don't think so kenny, there was minor contact, to me it wasn't a penalty, but he made the most of it, if that happens every time fair enough but it won't, not evry ref and var crew work the same
|

By:
ffs elise..Sterling more or less admitted he cheated.."he TOUCHED my leg"..call it what it was. BLATANT CHEATING.
|
|
By:
my point is kenny that if the ref / var were accurate and consistent there wouldn't a debate in any game, they reviewed it and gave it, if you read what the danish press think about england / var and sterling it's more in line with your view

|
By:
strangely the italians too who are an absolute joke when it comes to play acting

Only the English 'cheating' matters elise. Sheesh. Did nobody watch Italy Spain. Dreadful scenes at times with that Jordi Alba the biggest piece of filth to take the field that day.

For most of the tw4ts on here who have never played the game or have played as forwards not backs. If you are running alongside someone at full pelt and you touch any part of their body it unbalances them and often leads to a fall or a slowing down. If you can touch their boots or ankle they go straight over , if your knee touches their knee it has the same effect. As a defender it is a most useful tactic "outside the box" for it can be carried out without an easily seen trip , i have lost count of the number of pundits calling "soft" penalties when a player appears not to have been touched and allegedly "dived". A camera at every angle would not pick up this trickery which often happens two strides before the actual fall.
There are other parts of the body that are targetted by players ,usually defenders who are aware of their opponents recent injuries before they go out on the pitch. Sometimes others do it , Vinny Jones obviously on Gasgoines nuts, fashanue chopped big defenders across the neck when jumping for a ball, there was an ejit at palace who never wore shin pads until he broke his leg, |

Had Gazza had an injury to his nuts prior to this incident .If so i was unaware. |

The other point is that cheating only happens where someone cheats the rules.
Most of the above only takes place because rule changes happen after the event. If the referees kept up to date and the football associations got their acts together It might help |

To be a good defender you need discipline
Jonesy was never a good defender |
