Fabrice Muamba was the Bolton player who collapsed at Spurs... thankfully a doctor was in the crowd and saved his life

When you see things like this, it reminds you how short life is for all of us- a guy not yet 30 having something like this occurring. Far too short for restrictions and lockdowns with finite lives

2003 Confederations Cup continued after Foe died

Cameroon didn't withdraw either

there were 1-0 up in the semi final, Foe collapsed 72nd minute

match eventually restarted, Cameroon won and played in the final

it wasn't a heart attack, you clutch your chest when you've had a heart attack and stumble a bit, he fell straight forward, he was lights out before he hit the deck unfortunately, which indicates it was a cardiac arrest

Looked like a massive cardiac arrest & he was gone before he hit the ground. Shocking viewing.

there's been a fair few lesser profile incidents of this. An Ajax player collapsed in a reserves game (i think) and he survived but suffered serious brain damage. I've heard a few instances of it happening at amateur level and they simply don't stand a chance because of the lack of medical equipment. Justin Edinburghs's son is campaigning at the moment to have defibs at all sports centre's etc across the country. needs funding.

It happened to a Hungarian player playing in Portugal a few years ago, he died, he was just booked, bent down to his knees, then fell backwards.

happened to a Seville player as well, he was treated, got up, walked to the dressing room, then collapsed again and died
