Compulsory relegation clauses would mean bottom half clubs would have to pay players more in wages to compensate for the risk of relegation, thereby making it harder for them to compete with other PL clubs

lurka, nothing's perfect. Make this clause compulsory for Man City. Liverpool etc, in other words every contract, as I suggested. Covers your point, I believe

I had the luck despite I was caught in some trades without the possibility to trade out and I had a certain amount on hold, when the system broke down and I could not remove it. I did not do the part arbitage trade on the sportsbook correctly, the amount was to high. Therefore I expected a loss. I was saved because of the reason I apparently have earned some bonus points to use on the sportsbook without my knowlegde, because I am only very rarely using the sportbook. So it ended up with a little surplus on the day, but I admit, I will so absolutely have prefered not to experience such "an excitement" this evening..

No it doesn't. My point referred to bottom half clubs, yours referred to the two favourites for the league.

For a club coming up into the PL like Fulham, they would have to offer a player extra money to join them compared to a mid-table club as the risk of relegation, and a pay cut, is greater. That makes it harder for them to compete with other PL clubs and means it's even more likely that they will go down as they won't be able to afford players they otherwise would. That distorts competition in the PL and makes it even harder for them to stay up.

And when dropping back down they get a massive financial advantage over about 18 or 19 Championship clubs, thus yo yoing year in year out and the same clubs being promoted back

Next season its probably going to be Fulham and WBA being top 2 comfortably and Sheff United possibly making the playoffs and going up through that if luck is on their side

The 3 relegated side are going to be Watford, Norwich and the winners of the playoff are going to finish rock bottom with not a cat in hells chance

How is that going to change if you have relegation clauses? The clubs who go down have to sell players, the championship becomes more competitive, yes, but only because the best teams lose players and get worse. Then the teams who come up are even lower standard and have even more chance of going back down.

You'll get the same in the PL with relegation clauses, you'll effectively be penalising teams who are favs for relegation as they will have to pay a premium to get players to join them compared to established PL clubs. You'll effectively be penalising them financially at the start of the season during the transfer window and then penalising them again at the end by relegating them. It will create a massive divide between top and bottom half PL teams and make it even more of a closed shop in the PL, harder for established PL teams to get relegated and even harder for promoted clubs to stay up. The best players on teams who barely survive will be looking to move to better PL clubs to avoid the possibility of relegation clauses and a pay cut the next season etc etc

You haven't thought through the consequences.

The relegated teams don't have to sell players because of the parachute payments

Norwich and Watford literally kept their squad and added to it, Bournemouth also didn't sell anyone, they let Ibe go on a free (cost them 20m?) which is exactly what the EFL is chasing Derby for right now ffs, letting players go for less than paid for them.. the whole system stinks to high heaven.
