Can someone tell me why Wagner got that gig?

His Huddersfield side were bloody awful, got promoted with a negative goal difference Crazy

Watched last 20 mins of Augsburg vs Paderborn

Paderborn lacked quality in final 3rd, should have won

Augsburg were slow to every 2nd ball, strikers not up to much

Lack of home wins totally killing me at the minute. Can't last much longer, can it?

I have a mate who is a Town fan, who followed them all round the country in the past, even in the old 4th Division days.

Wagner did wonders at Town, somehow getting them promoted on a shoestring via a momentous play off final. This was followed by an even greater achievement in keeping them up in the PL. Largely with the same team, unable to bring in big names or pay big wages as the Town board were very prudent, and looking at the bigger picture did not want too get carried away with wasting money. Virtually all Town fans were very sad to see Wagner leave - he himself became very disillusioned in the second PL season - but were very grateful for what he achieved and the very many happy memories.

yep it's what he achieved on what tools he was given ...coming up with a negative goal difference is by the by  ...maybe they were a bit lucky  ,but the fact they survived first season says a lot

Hamburg hopefully do the job tonight

They shouldn't be out of the top division in my opinion

As for Wagner I just think his football is tedious, worked in the Championship but it reminded me of Billy Davies Derby team, somehow managed to get promoted from nowhere and the Towns 2nd season was reminiscent of Derby's infamous 2007-08 season

IMHO Wagner is a good young and upcoming Manager. He was much loved and liked by Town supporters with a couple of seasons of great memories. I have mentioned previously that my mate came up and sat next to me in their first season in the Sir KD stand (and fair play to him he rose on each of our three goals). Given the constraints placed on Wagner, I am not sure he could have done much more at Town.

I like Daniel Farke's attacking philosophy, with his entertaining style of play. I really enjoyed the game when Norwich came to Anfield, they deservedly won the second half. But look where Norwich are today in their first season back in the Premier League..............

Depends what you want I suppose

Entertaining football but relegation (with a good cup run), similar to Boros 1996/97 season, or survival through % football ala Huddersfield 1st season or most of Allardyces seasons

Most of the business blokes will take % football if it means the prem money

Steve Gibson is a lifelong Boro fan (we had one in Doubhty RIP) and he always wanted entertaining footy at first hence signings like Juninho, Emerson and Ravanelli

He's got a bit more business based as he's got older mind

Hamburg to win and over 2.5g

Hopefully its not the case where two top sides cancel each other out

I have watched Hamburg  Sonts ... the home loss to St Pauli , the 0-5 defeat at home to Regensburg  and an away game  vs Kiel  so maybe not the best pick of games   ...to be fair they were shocking ,even by bundles 2 standards Shocked

they must be OK though to be 2nd or 3rd
By:

Yeah the 0-5 at home was esp bad

But they are good enough to win promotion from that league surely?
