Clubs like Bournemouth and Burnley have a ceiling they'll never break, mid table for 4 or 5 years before their inevitable drop back down

Football fans love to hate a rival club almost as much as they love to support their own. During a derby match, you’re probably more likely to chant about your hatred for the opposition than support for your own side. While the team you support will never change, the team - or teams - you hate will develop over time. There are many reasons for hating another club. It could be local rivalry. Something historic. The fact they’re successful. A controversial incident involving your own club. A dislike for their manager or certain players. Or, simply, because your friend supports them. All are very valid reasons for hating a club. But which club is the most hated in England? Well, ‘English Football Statistician’ on Twitter has revealed all. To work it out, a study has examined the number of chants aimed at each club - and there’s a clear winner. In total, there are 12 clubs who have 20 or more chants aimed at them. Let’s take a look: Aston Villa - 20 chants Burnley - 21 chants Arsenal - 21 chants Birmingham - 25 chants Chelsea - 29 chants Newcastle - 33 chants Manchester United - 34 chants Sunderland - 35 chants Manchester City - 39 chants Tottenham - 42 chants Liverpool - 50 chants Leeds - 117 chants That’s right, Leeds are England’s most hated club with a massive 117 chants being sung about them. But why does everyone seem to hate Leeds? Much of the hatred stems back to the 1960s and 1970s when they became a force in English football under Don Revie. Success breeds contempt but they were a physical side and were dubbed ‘Dirty Leeds.’ Their fans also had a pretty bad reputation during the hooliganism culture in England during the 1970s and 1980s. And despite dropping into the football league, rivals fans accuse Leeds supporters of arrogance and still believing they’re the biggest club in the country. In truth, the hatred has been passed down generations and the inclusion of their name in chants has remained from years ago. A return to the Premier League will only heighten that hatred you’d imagine. |

couldn't care less about leeds, never given them a second thought, just saying them and millwall as far back as I can remmeber have fans that most fans of other clubs don't like, all those polls back that up.

Depends where you look I suppose. Its widely accepted than Man U are the most hated team in England and have been for decades, but who really cares?
You have to have done something to become hated so its probably a compliment. |

For me Leeds fans do seem to have an habit of vanishing when they lose but gobbing off when they win

Surely supporters of other clubs would rather watch their team playing against a side that produces passion in them (hatred) rather than a side that they have no emotional feeling towards. I'm sure if you asked any Man U/Liverpool/ Chelsea supporter who they would want to go to watch their team play against given the choice of Southampton/Burnley/Brighton or Leeds I'd be very surprised if at least 50% didn't pick Leeds.

including me, like I said I don't care about leeds, just given you my general feeling on how they've been perceived down the years, don't live in the North West and don't support a rival club so just don't care about them either way.

I was intrigued to find out who Leeds had beaten to win this (much sought after) most-hated accolade , so i looked it up . Imagine my pride to find out the team Leeds had beaten into second was (drum roll)

Champions of something at last marvellous,the most hated club in England and as George Best used to say every team had at least one hard man but the trouble with Leeds was that they had eleven of them

Leeds basically 5 points clear of Brentford as their goal difference is far better. 18 points to play for and can't see Brentford dropping many points on the run in. I think it's going to happen to us again and have to go through the play offs. We can't keep having 23 shots on goal and having all the possession and scoring once. Terrible result for us on Tuesday.

I told youse back in feb, Leeds would win their next 6 games, which came true, but it has worked out even better, 5 months without losing, as I said before, i've played the game, I know what i'm talking about. cheers.

Away games look very tricky to me Blackburn,Swansea and Derby.
Blackburn poor record there and they are due a result. Swansea think they beat us at home. Derby are in good form and pushing for the play offs,played them off the park at home but only drew 1-1 when they equalised from about there only attack in injury time. Then add in 1 point gained from the last 4 matches of last season. Bielsa has a blind spot in realising we have to put the ball in the back of the net far more often than last season and it has still happened this season learning nothing from last season and has cost us numerous points letting teams off the hook.Just a few games i can recall that we should easily have won but only drew Forest and Derby at home,Preston away should have been 3 up by half time yet we scrape a draw near the end,Brentford away scraped a draw after dominating,i am sure there are many more Nervous times are ahead |

Agreed Roache. At some point in the run in you have to put on a performance without individual errors. I'm starting to fear that our young keeper as well as the usual suspects are not up to it.

I'd love to know what Bielsa sees in Bamford as well to be honest
He's so painful to watch, no passion and no urgency whatsoever, he's stealing a living at that level in my opinion |

He had 3 loan spells in the prem, played about 20 games and never looked like scoring in a month of sunday's
Dyche got rid of him quickly which says a lot |

It's not just him to be fair SS. Costa has been very poor considering his experience. He should be doing a lot better against opposition that imo isn't great this season. Cardiff result was bad. Luton result appalling.

I used to rate Bamford and then he arrived at my team Leeds and watching him 1st hand completely changed my view of him as a goalscorer,the 3 players Bielsa plays furthest up the park Bamford,Costa and Harrison are woeful in front of goal,Bamford was not even a
regular last season as he was the back up to Kemar Roofe who was a decent striker but Bamford needs far too many chances before he scores although he did well with a great finish against Fulham these games are few and far between for him,Harrison also scored a good goal against Fulham but he is the worst finisher out of the 3, Costa scored quite a few goals for Wolves in there promotion season but has been a massive disappointment on the goals front with a paltry 3 league goals,Harrison has 6 league goals but both wide players should be getting into double figures for a top of the table side usually dominating possession and any striker worth is salt playing for a team at the top should be pushing 20 league goals barring injury, Alioski always has goals in him but he is rarely in the starting line up these days,it summed up Bielsa earlier in the season when Bamford went about 8 games without a goal but forever in the starting line up with Neketiah chomping at the bit and only used from the bench in the league apart from a single league start shortly before his return to Arsenal as he realised he was wasting his time at Leeds with a stark lack of opportunity. |

Great result today need to keep the momentum going as Brentford are looking dangerous although they had an unmotivated Wigan today due to recent events after there long unbeaten run of about 8 games i think.

Derby could do Leeds a favour this week against WBA and Brentford. Even if they don't ,they'll be out of contention for top 6 by the time Leeds play them in penultimate game ,which would help Leeds.
You would think Brentford would have to beat Derby on saturday. |
