"EasyJet's chief executive, Johan Lundgren, has defended his airline's high ticket prices to fly to Madrid for the Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool on 1 June. Football fans complained to BBC Radio 5 live that flights around that date cost £1,000 instead of £250 normally."
There are a number of alternatives - for example fly to Alicante (yes Alicante) which has a high-speed rail link to Madrid, about 2 hrs 30 minutes. In fact you could get much cheaper accomodation in Alicante and "commute" to Madrid. Any other suggestions?
There was a discussion on this the other week, I recommended doing what you're doing, flying to Valencia or Alicante and working your way from there, naming no names but n88uk said nobody would be arsed to do that
