brian kidd..whats the point?

been thinking that myself for a while,sometimes see him on the bench at city games ,pep rarely seems to acknowledge
him.I predict he will retire at end of season .

Maybe they need reminding what a European Cup winners medal looks like.

Was strange in that documentary.

Never spoke a word to camera. Didn't seem to interact with any staff or players.
Even in the mini-cinema he sat at the back alone.

Most he seemed to do, was encouraging claps of his hands, in the dressing room.

I watched the first episode and was gonna ask of anyone who saw the whole thing if Kidd's presence was ever explained.

The one I saw he was a like a bloke that had wandered into a wedding reception, that nobody knew, but everybody assumed had been brought by someone else there.

well glad to see my thoughts arent out of sync...cant dispute the quality of citys play but wonder what will happen to them when guardiola moves on...it wont be long by his previous standards and a telling moment for me was when he was telling players he was prepared to defend players to the death in public ie with Sky Sports interviews...he wont do in private...interesting to see how long Sheik mansour..not a regular visitor at all.. will retain interest !

Had exactly the same conversation with my mate who also watched the doc.

He made a good point about Aguerro.  How the hell can you live and play football in a country for 8 years and not speak any of the language?

The Aguero thing is bizarre really isn't it?  8 years with unlimited time and money; could have learned to speak it in months.  Extremely odd.

i didnt know that about aguero, seems a strange one given his longevity at city and the fact he doesnt seem like a retard.

not that it matters though, hes a true master craftsman on the park, theres not been many that have done it better.

Many players who spent years in England and either never spoke in English or made little attempt, was either because they didn't feel comfortable enough to do so or because they didn't want the extra media work, in some cases they didn' want to be misinterpreted, including managers such as Pochettinho at Southampton, Bielsa at Leeds and more peculiarly, Sarri at Chelsea, which is strange as to me his English is very good. In player examples, Pires I don't think ever said a word in English during his time in the Premier League, yet post career has given many interviews in the language, Valencia was made Man United captain but after over a decade in the country I don't think I've ever heard him speak English, I've heard some native Spanish speakers say Alexis Sanchez apparently doesn't even speak Spanish that well so not a surprise after all this time he hasn't spoke the lingo either.

I would have thought however given how big a global brand Neymar and Messi are, that neither of them speak English, I'd have thought they money men around them, the sponsors, would be wanting them to be as marketable as possible, in the same way Ronaldo is, especially given English is the International business langague rather than Spanish/Portguese.

The thing is, bar some one liners on a Coca Cola ad or whatever they don't NEED to speak English. 

They let their image and ability do the talking.

They aren't expected to have 10 minutes with John Humphries.
