Yes penzance Moyes should have played 3 up front with Haller so he wouldn't have to move about at all. Pellegrini bought the player which just about sums up that manager as well.
|
|
By:
did'nt Moyes pay £10M for Hugil?
Did'nt play him. |

It's the end result that counts but at the moment I think the team are doing slightly better than flirting with relegation. All the managers I can ever remember make some bad buys but 45 million is not one West Ham can afford. Arnautovic did nothing until Moyes arrived which also tells you the difference between the two.

West Ham will step up their efforts to find a replacement for Sebastien Haller after the striker completed his move to Ajax.
Haller cost the Hammers £45million in the summer of 2019 but has joined Ajax for around £20m. West Ham manager David Moyes has been given the green light to reinvest the money to sign a replacement, with Bournemouth forward Josh King and Senegalese striker Boulaye Dia among possible targets. Dia has scored 10 goals for Stade Riems in Ligue 1 this season and is valued at around £14m. King is out of contract at Bournemouth at the end of the season and is available for around £15m this month. Moyes’s West Ham transfer policy has been a huge success since he rejoined the club, including the cut-price signings of Czech duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, and the Hammers hierarchy have backed his vision for the squad. Haller leaves after 18 disappointing months at the London Stadium. Big things were expected when he signed for a club-record fee from Eintracht Frankfurt, but he departs having scored 10 goals in 48 Premier League appearances. He is the latest flop signed by former Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini to leave the club, following Jack Wilshere, Roberto and Albian Ajeti. Haller has played second fiddle to Michail Antonio for most of his time in east London. He stepped in for Antonio when the West Ham talisman was out with hamstring issues but he scored just two goals in 12 games. Moyes also wants a left-back this month, with Arthur Masuaku sidelined following knee surgery. Another player set to leave West Ham is Robert Snodgrass, who was on Friday finalising a move to West Brom, where he will link up with ex-Hammers manager Sam Allardyce. |

Pellegrini's won the Premiership.
Moyes lasted less than a year at Man United and R.Sociedad got rid of him pronto. Moyes will always be a negative manager. |

I used to think like you about attacking football penzance until I learnt the lesson in the 1960s when West Ham had all those great players but couldn't defend and never finished higher than 8th during that decade under Greenwood. This is the match in 1967 that convinced me that you will never get anywhere if you can't defend.

I was there that day as usual on the North Bank and it wasn't the first time our inability to defend properly had cost us. Bobby Moore knew it and it's all there in his book.
|
|
By:
With the points on the board and players
he's got he could be more attacking from the off, especially at home,to me. This year we could be dark horse for the FA Cup,covid permitting,if he plays a strong side, none of this Premier League be all and end all B0ll0x.Our best chance of winning anything again. If ever. |
|
By:
You must be patient penzance as it takes time to build a successful team and whilst the FA Cup might be an attraction at the moment I would like to see a challenge for the title eventually. I have been a fan since 1954 and only once in all that time have we ever challenged for the title which was in the 1985/86 season. Of course it is almost impossible to challenge the top clubs these days due to their unlimited funds to buy the best players and so it will take even longer than ever to build a successful side.

Antonio had Carlton Cole’s about him last night wearing them sea divers boots

8 Minutes into his Ajax debut Haller scores, you couldn't make it up. He is like a child in a candy store, to be fair the crosses are reigning in.

Good result Positive team and us fans
Been let down by lanzini which ain’t surprising cos gone player And benrahma who not cutting it imo Can’t believe I’m say this rather toenails played then them ![]() |
|
By:
I was amazed Lanzini started instead of Fornals. Fornals always gives 100% and played well against Burnley whereas Lanzini brings nothing to the game and needs offloading. Otherwise a competent performance in a difficult game and the first time since 1958 that we have won our first 4 games of the year and in 58 we won the Second Division title and I was there with my dad at the station to welcome them back from Middlesborough after the last game.

Upton Park green street
Bet it was different sight to behold than now Which I haven’t been too in years , No need any more No working mans club , no football secondly Lanzini he finished, I’m disappointed in benrahma he’s long way from finished article but his price tag No way anyone pay 40 mil for him for **** step over no end goods Dawson Well he’s been fantastic I’d give the wonky pair lanzini and benrahma outing in the cup game |
|
By:
Benrahma only cost around 20 million but he's a bit of a lightweight and what we used to call a "fancy dan" or "fanny" player and so far has been very disappointing. If only we can get a decent striker in the January window then I'll be quite happy as Antonio can't carry the burden on his own for ever.
|
|
By:
Get Decent striker rocking horse **** mind you
Bowen and Antonio either side Tonails rice souck engine room Where be happy |
|
By:
West ham fans never seem to be happy. Seventh in the league and above some really big clubs, yet always seem to find a downside to everything. Not sure what you're expecting! I think some real progress is being made personally....
|
|
By:
ashbourne.....If you read through this thread you will see that great credit has been given to Moyes for the progress made.
|
|
By:
Admittedly i only really scanned the first couple of pages but defo seems a fair bit of negativity there.
Most Hammers fans i know are the same, seems they'd rather be moaning constantly than getting behind their team... |
|
By:
ashbourne......There is some truth in what you say but I hope our fans are now being won over by what Moyes is achieving .
|
|
By:
Highlights reel player benrahma
Dispointing I’m not being negative or moaning A FACT Lanzini needs jogging on in summer Moaning we had lamp post up top most of season |

West Ham are delighted with their revival under David Moyes and intend to reward him with a new contract at the end of the season.
Moyes is nearing the end of his 18-month deal, and although that includes an option for a further year, the desire is to hand him a long-term contract. The situation is different from the Scot’s first spell at the London Stadium. Although Moyes saved West Ham from relegation after replacing Slaven Bilic on a six-month deal in November 2018, the board decided to go in a different direction at the end of the campaign, hiring Manuel Pellegrini. Senior figures at West Ham accept that it was a mistake not to keep Moyes, who returned for a second spell after replacing Pellegrini in December 2019. After staying up last season West Ham lie seventh, two points below fourth-placed Liverpool. In normal circumstances West Ham might already have offered Moyes fresh terms. However the financial impact of the pandemic means they are unsure what they would be able to offer the former Everton manager were negotiations to begin now. They hope the picture will be clearer in May. Moyes is understood to be relaxed about the situation. He is settled at West Ham and offers them welcome stability. He has made the team harder to beat and has impressed with a limited budget in the transfer market. Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Craig Dawson and Vladimir Coufal have been excellent since joining. The immediate challenge for West Ham is whether they can sign a striker. They sold Sébastien Haller to Ajax for £20m this month and are exploring options after having bids for Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri and Montpellier’s Gaëtan Laborde rejected. They have looked at Bournemouth’s Joshua King, Cagliari’s Gio Simeone and Reims’ Boulaye Dia. Eintracht Frankfurt’s André Silva, who has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season, could be available at the right price. Moyes has always adopted a cautious approach with transfers. If the right player is not available, it is understood that West Ham are prepared to sign a striker on a short-term loan and wait until the summer before spending. |

Moyles main job imo
Is trying to keep rice at the club Cos he’s too important to let go |
|
By:
Rice may go for as little as £50m. Apparently the p@ndem1c is pushing prices down. He might stay if the board showed a little ambition but don't hold your breath expecting them to show any. #nextlevel
