Sell Xhaka, Ramsey, Welbeck - get in Vida & N'zonzi

He can do whatever he likes now. He can even move us to LA if he wanted too. Would make a killing on land at the Emirates too.
Zero accountability. Sad....when you thought we were over the stadium debt we got some clown nailing us down for 600 large to the Germans. |

American sports fans have grown up with the Kroenke's of this world and accept it is their way.
We haven't and ultimately, will not accept the destruction of our club from the inside out. Owners move a team from side of America to the other and fans turn up to watch a team they had little or no interest in before. That won't happen here nor would the government allow it so what we are left with is a man that probably wants to milk the club dry over a long period of time. We have to, at that point, empty the stadium, stop buying merchandise and bring very bad publicity on him and his family. This is (not) America ! |

Don't think we will be in the top 4 this season. We seemed to have fallen too far behind the others under Wenger and can't see Emery making up the difference straight away.
But with a season under his belt and providing Kroenke gives him the ammunition to go and buy who he wants, i feel Unai will have us challenging for the league soon enough. Seems strange Fulham outspending us in the window. ![]() |

I think Liverpool and City are certs but then it is up for grabs. Jose is divisive and it could all fall apart quickly up there: Chelsea could go either way and the 55pud22 are up against it imo.
We have a proper DM now and who knows how big that could be for us. If (and surely this must be the case) we tighten up at the back we have a wealth of attacking talent and pace. Top 4 is very possible and who knows, with the potential of the side may surprise us all. Leno, Lich, Soc, SM, NM, TORR, AR, MO, AL, HM, PEA. This would be my idea of our strongest side as things stand but I wouldn't mind a MN, ME sitting beside TORR in a more defensive set up away from home in big games. |
|
By:
Lucas Torreira may well protect the defence far more than we have protected past defences. But i'm not over enthused by our back line. Don't rate Kola at all and Mustafi is bang average. Wasn't overly impressed by Sokratis pre-season, but he may come on after he settles in a bit more.
Bellerin seems to have regressed and Lichsteiner is older than JJ. But it is a season of hope for the first time in donkey's years. COYG. |
|
By:
Kolasinac being injured has done the team a favour imo. He is so poor at the back he would almost be better playing on the left wing. I think the defenders need to be given a chance after years of Wengeritis affecting them all. Torr may well make them all look better by just giving them less work to do because he protects so well. If we can just stay in games we will win a lot of them as we have such power going forward.Lich is a cut above HB regardless of his age but I suspect HB will be in the side v City ; I hope I'm wrong because it would fill me with confidence that Emery is here to make the big calls.

Hope Emery gives chances to Guendozi and Maitland early in the season. Unless Unai can improve Xhaka bigtime, i would have him sitting on the bench.
Not sure Leno is a major upgrade on Cech. Whoever gets the nod will have to stay on their toes. |
|
By:
Leno: nor am I. I am taking it on trust and hope. Cech is, and I don't like saying this, scared in the challenge, I don't blame him but it's the last dregs of a very distinguished career for him. If Leno is not better than him we are in trouble.
Niles will have to play LB until Nacho is fit but he will be better than Kos at defending but I like him too (in the CM position). Xhaka has not been remotely good enough and I would be very worried if Emery hasn't realsied this already. He has a lot to do to be in the side. |

Sanchez was shocking for utd. He has always given the ball away a fair bit but he was missing pretty simple passes all game. Tbf utd were sh!te all round.

"Danny Welbeck is one of the players who has a multi-position possibility," the Arsenal boss said.
"Right winger, left winger, striker, and also yesterday he worked with us at left-back - his performance was good! I like this spirit. To help positions across the team with positive spirit." .... Looooooooooooooo the seens...Welbz at left back vs Aguero, Sterling, KDB, Leroy etc etc |
|
By:
I have thought for a long time that he is well worth a try out as an attacking wing back aka moses at chelski ???
Few will out run him in either direction. Interesting |
|
By:
He's a trier alright , but not too much ability. Would be gone if somebody had wanted to buy him in the window.
|
|
By:
Im thinking the new boss will like him. He will love his work ethic, his ability to play in many various positions and if he can stay fit he will be getting a new contract.
|
|
By:
Rabbit out the hat today if he starts. No one would have predicted that earlier in the week and he is featuring in many of the team photos of the training session yesterday
|
|
By:
I'd be surprised if he figures in Emerys plans. I know we are short of left backs at the min, but surely Holding or Maitland Niles will get a start there?
|
|
By:
Can't wait for this afternoon. Have done 6-0 and 7-0 City, think I may have erred on the side of caution.
|
|
By:
The owner doesn't aim to win,.. The new manager ok, players ok but not aiming to win.
Who's neck is on the line, the fans imo |
|
By:
Niles will be LB today but if Nacho has issues (and with Kos out) we need to be thinking of other options so why not this a possibility ?
I'm very much hoping Torr is fit enough to play and if so would he go with a defensive 2 in front of the back 4 ?. I hope Emery chooses a team that shows he is prepared to make big calls from the off. If so HB would be in danger of being benched. City will plat the only way they can and we need to take advantage of that. Leno, lich,sm,sok,mn,torr,me,mo,hm,ar or al,pea. I read he has chosen 2 RB's on the right side more than once - Lich with HB would be more solid and interesting today - but it would just be nice to see a plan in place after years of throwing the same 11 on the pitch and throw them a ball ! |

Not really comfortable with this line up.
Does he really think Xhaka is up to this ? I don't. Ozil on the left here ? Never worked out for Wenger. Only one pace outlet in this side. Guendouzi I like but he does get caught out taking too much time on the ball in front of the back 4. I love the way he wants to take the ball off the back 4 and play it forward but he will have to liven himself up in possession if he is not to get caught on the ball a number of times. -------------------------------------------------- Hope I'm wrong and much may depend on how Emery sets them up but I feel uneasy with this side. |

city will tear you a new one for sure

That's original and well considered. Thanks for the contribution.

sorry didnt mean to be disrespectful but even money on city had to be taken apols if i offended anyone

City only have sterling for pace which will help our CH's to hold a highish line. Their side does not look particularly intimidating on reflection: with a central 3 of xhaka, guen & ramsey we need to give them minimal space and time and hit Ozil quickly to feed PEA.

Probably the most limited XI Arsenal have fielded in a League match for over two decades.
|
|
By:
well we shall see. arseal now wenger has gone will be intersting to see how they go. i personally thought wenger should have gone a few years earlier but we shall see. dont know much about the new manager and the team but i think you are a club in transition and will be pleased to hit top four
as for ouzil i would have off loaded him - seriel under achiever |
|
By:
One last point. We have had the majority of our big players, in pre-season, much earlier than most. We should have an edge on fitness.
|
|
By:
what your reckoning on the rsult then?
|
|
By:
1-1
|
|
By:
2-1. With the fitness edge we have it will look a very tough season if we get beaten easily. What I am really looking for is Emery making the right calls. We have had 10 years of Wenger doing nothing when things were going wrong on the pitch - waiting until we conceded before acting. No more of that would be a start.
