Jed's right, of course, but in answer to your tongue-in-cheek question, the posts celebrating such an achievement would be buried under a deluge of "I told you so about Wenger" vitriol.

Poor old JJ...he's still reeling from the love of his life leaving him without any warning whatsoever. He posted each and every day from just 'good morning' to whatever just to keep his beloved thread going. I can't help thinking that he is at home, in a rocking chair with a blanket, gently rocking whilst dreaming of HIS old thread.

One thing about Emery's team that is undeniable is that there is more fight about them, but the defensive side of things still look distinctly average. That said, can't complain about our current position.

As Emery wants to play out from the back it is all the more baffling that Xhaka is still in the side. Immobile, ponderous and has a poor short passing game. Our back 4 need to be asked to make simple passes to our 2 sitting (term used loosely)midfielders who in turn NEED to be comfortable on the ball in tight situations. Torriera, Guendouzi, Elneny, Niles, Mhikitaryan are all better than Xhaka at that andall bring more athleticism than him. It is no good having a panicked pass from a CH to Xhaka, it has been shown again and again he then gives the ball away.

If, as seems the case, Emery will stick to this he must pick the players we have best suited to that style. We have plenty of room for improvement and the answer is within the squad to provide it (and transfer windows to improve it further). Drop Xhaka (passing and concentration lapses), Ramsey (unbalances the side and head not in right place), Bellerin (passing and cannot stop a winger for love nor money)and we get clear and obvious improvements that may prolong our good results. Why wait until the inevitable defeats begin to address the obvious ?
Leno, Lich, Soc, Hold, Mon, Torr, Elneny, Ozil, Iwobi, Welbeck, Lacca/PEA.  a far more defensively sound looking side with energy, pace, work-rate and far more able to pass out from the back. Certainly not a world beating side but they would stay in games and give our classy strikers chances to win games.

Unless Kol is playing wide right in front of Nacho ? That not being the case the team will be again unbalanced.

Victor has priced up Aubameyang at 1/2 and Lacazette at 6/4 as top Arsenal scorer; anyone else feel this is wrong? They are both equally likely to get injured and Lacazette is more likely to be dropped out of the two although that would be a surprise and would be because he isn't scoring. Lacazette is the one playing slap down the middle with Aubameyang playing a wider role and if I were the one pricing it up I would go Lacazette 4/6 and Aubemayang 11/10. If Victor hadn't closed down my account I would definitely have a bet. They will no doubt change their prices if they see this unless they have taken loads on Aubameyang before we have seen the new formation at the start of the season.

I can see Lacazette getting benched and Aubameyang being the main striker, I think that is the best way forward, and VC agree

Some surprises here. Mkhit or Iwobi for the 10 role ? Mustafi ahead of Socratis ? No Ozil, Ramsey and PEA on the bench ? With so many changes I think we will do very well to get ot of there with a win.

was just going to post think BTTS is a good bet in the game today at fulham, 3.25 for the draw at the moment
looks a good trade down to 2.75, hopefully arsenal will beat them in the end

Superb going forward today(helped by Fulham of course). Still plenty of clear room for improvement in the side but the results are heping while the players come to terms with Emery. Goals aside this was probably the most impressive we have been in the current run. Emery has played 3 different systems in 3 games and won them all.

Mind the gap !

Hi lads, hope you’re all well.

Was really impressed with us today. Interesting how fast we attacked without Ozil slowing us down. I’m not saying we should sell him but there’s a case to be made to bring him on for the last half an hour rather than starting him every week. Great to see Iwobi looking confident.

Onwards and upwards.

Agree Mr E ref the Ozil part, we def looked sharper without him, clinical in front of goal all be it not the toughest opponents, people talk about the slow start etc but against Chelsea if we,d finished like Sunday we,d of had 4 by half time in that game.
Personally Id like still to see Ramsey stay, Id have him in front of Xhaka all day, he loves playing for AFC and prob feels he deserves a decent deal after his service to the club, to this day Ozil hasn't shown any such commitment but is on ridiculous wages for such a under achiever esp when the chips have been down in the past against the top teams. Its not impossible for him to win people over now he,s retired from International football, maybe this new period and going forward under different leadership he just might become more consistent, cant see it myself but he obv has the ability to be a top player and an asset but for what he gets he really ought to be showing us a lot more on a regular basis.

So far its not so bad is it, Im sure some thought we could fall flat etc but we do look like we are moving in the right direction at least and like Enp says there is plenty of room for improvement again in a few areas.

First time this season we've played with any type of sustained pace and no coincidence that Ozil wasn't involved.

I still think that we're incredibly vulnerable at the back but pleased that Leno is now in goal - can't believe that Czech would now replace him once fit.

Yes we look shaky for sure but also it appears to be slowing getting better game by game. The crux may come when Xhaka gets suspended or injured and Emery has to pick someone like Elneny or Niles to play alongside Torreira. I am hoping when that time comes it will be Niles and he shows Emery the better passing he has than Xhaka. He is also far more pacy, mobile and has an engine. All these attributes will suit the football Emery wants to play.  Personally I would take Elneny over Xhaka as well.

Ramsey looks as though he'll stay for the remainder of the season.

Looking at the deal from the club's point of view, it equates to an outlay of £52 million for a four year contract. I'm sure they believe that they can achieve better value elsewhere.

Average player looking for superstar wages.

Had 1 half decent season in his career.

Won't be missed.

Ozil must be glad he signed he signed that contract when he did cos there's no way he'd be getting anything like that under Emery.

Good post ^.

If those figures are correct it lays it out quite starkly why the club withdrew from the contract talks.

Im sure there could be a compromise ref Ramsey though, agree he is no world beater but his contribution is far better than Ozil,s overall, the German for me being the highest ever paid player we,ve had has proven such a massive disappointment with us, its a complete joke he gets what he does for what he produces so far at least, obv not a fan.

3 players I could lose and not lose any sleep over are him obv and Xhaka and Mustafi, Bellerin is on the fringe of that too but he has looked a little better this season so far, just wish he was a bit more solid as a defender, pace keeps him an asset atm for me though and going forward he can produce some dangerous situations.
We,ve had a nice run of games to build some confidence and obv we are a working progress but we are looking to be doing that, after so long being stagnant under AW this new Manager had as hard a job as the ManU Managers that took over from AF, He has brought in a few players who all look ok so far and in time when fully settled in and a few more tweak's along the way we should be competing with the top 4 at least, all we can ask atm.
btw this thread not the same anymore, used to log in and look everyday, days and days with nowt, oh well have to wait until we lose maybe and we can a few Spuds rolling in with a contribution

Ozil is a model of  AWs deficiencies.

He was a panic buy at the end of a transfer window and the wages he has managed to secure undermine the abilities of other players at the club. Another panic decision due to circumstances.

For many years i championed the fact that he was an over rated show pony, the luxury of whom we couldnt afford in a team which needed to be structured on hard work.

Hey ho !

Defensively we still need work to improve. The way forward is a centre back of the quality of a keown or Adams but they are hard to find. An additional full back  / wing back ( left sided ) would not go amiss either

Other than that we are almost there as going forward we are as good as any of our real competition and the addition of the likes of LT11 and MG29 to the midfield mix are massive positives. ( LT11 could be the signing of the season )
