Neymar is better than Suarez nowadays....love watching him silky tricks and skills together with a roy of the rovers mentality. Worth the money, hopefully stays at Barca.

Messi is the star man, Suarez is the focal point, Neymar is the other player outwide, definitely third fiddle at Barca, very direct but runs into walls a lot of times.

I can't see how this gets by FFP. The reported payment as a 'World Cup Ambassador' by Qatar to buy out his Barca contract is a related party transaction and caught by FFP as I understand it |

apparently La Liga are getting involved as well and are of the same view. Presumably Barca raised concerns and are getting La Liga to help. I presume La Liga have to sign off on the paperwork

La Liga do not police FFP, that is UEFA's job, so the deal could still happen and UEFA penalise PSG afterwards unless they decide to get involved beforehand. Would make a mockery of FFP if they can do a deal despite clearly being in breach. So I'd imagine UEFA will get involved to avoid that.
Loan deals do not count for this market, only permanent transfers. Yeah I'd agree that Neymar is not irreplaceable for Barca. |

won't need to be a 10 year deal, they could do it in 4-6 years and you need to take wages into account as well, not just the fee. It would be something like €100m a year spread over the life of the contract. They can do that and could sell some players to reduce wages if needs be.
But the reported payment by Qatar as WC Ambassador fee to buy out the contract wouldn't work imo |

There will be something dodgy to the deal somewhere clearly.
The stuff about putting it down as 20m a year on the books. Does that actually work (I know it does on a regular deal), I thought to activate a release clause you have to pay in 1 go. |

They can pay Barca the full £200m now but for FFP purposes if they gave Neymar a 10 yr contract it would go down in the books as £20m per season for the length of his contract.

Current FFP regulations - updated in June 2015 - state that owners can inject cash into a club as long as they can demonstrate how they will reach break-even. And a club will also have to ensure that their losses do not exceed 30m euros (£26.81m) over three seasons.

Clubs can spend €5m more than they earn over 3 years to 2017/18 but this can be increased to €30m over 3 years if entirely covered by a direct contribution from the owner or related party. So that is a limit on what an owner can inject, €25m in total over 3 years. They will have to dress it up some other way. They are going to use increased shirt sales and merchandising from Neymar's arrival to argue that their revenue will increase.

UEFA only seem to police FFP at the end of each 3 year period and if they do that again, then they will only look at PSG at the end of 2017/18. But if they were to look at this deal now, they'd have to shoot it down IMO.
PL clubs will make at least £250m each from PL rights alone in the current 3 year period. PSG don't have a TV deal anything like that and they can't just get the Qatari's to inject say €300m to finance this deal, they can only get €25m max from them. So they are going to have to show an enormous increase in revenue all in one season (2017/18) when UEFA come knocking in a year. I can't see how they will do this, so they will either do the deal regardless and be sanctioned for it or UEFA will decide to step in now and block it. |

I'm not sure if UEFA have the power to step in now and block it, but they might warn PSG that this is a nonsense deal and they will come down hard on them for such a flagrant breach?

We're talking about an increase of about €100m on their books in 2017/18 (that is approximately the annual value of Neymar's fee + wages for each year of the contract). Maybe they'll be able to get around it but I can't see how.

Naymar may be extremely marketable but struggles to make top 4 in the world for me. Come to think of it I'd rather have Hazard too.
