Groups of 3 are a joke and then its straight to a knock out a la FA cup and if Lincoln city can make the quarters theres always hope for England
thats what i find hard to understand, 3 in a group 4 is good , last games played together, only way to go.

They should have increased it to 40 teams retaining the 8 groups but now of 5 teams instead of the present 4 with top 2 progressing and yes i know all the final games cannot be played at the same time as 5 into 4 doesn't go but it could be arranged whereby the lowest seeded team from that group completes there quota of 4 games first then the remaining 4 teams complete there last fixture simultaneously and they all have the advantage in doing so because they are higher seeded. The only complication will be rest times between games as some teams would get less or more than others within that group but again that can be arranged by seeding order.
seems a sound enough idea.

yeah, it's harder not to qualify in South America than it is to qualify
Depends who you are. True if you are like Brazil. But South America is still a very strong continent. The likes of Peru/Paraguay would still struggle to qualify with 6 teams currently and are far better than some of the added dross this will add to the tournament. The same will be true for many teams on the fringes in Europe though, as I assume a team like Ukraine would still struggle to qualify with 16 teams and again would be far better than some of these teams added.
