The Lanzini secret is out. Other EPL clubs now fully aware we have a top class player on our books. He has been linked with both merseyside clubs.
The summer recruitment needs to be spot on so that the lad will not feel the need to go elsewhere to satisfy his ambitions. I hope we go quality over quantity this time. The 2 players i would love to see at the LS are 1. Iheanacho. Apparentl y the young nigerian stri ker is surplus to requirements at Man C. 2. Batsheyi from Chelsea on loan. As an aside i noticed at the Liverpool game that the only players' name on shirt was Lanzini. Weather this is bcoz he scored the winner against Spurs or bcoz he is our best player i cant say. |
|
By:
The less said about the Liverpool game the better. One thing is certain and that is Lanzini must not be sold.
Whatever happens this summer we need at least one decent striker as Carroll will only be fit for a certain number of games. Ayew and Callieri are both hopeless and nothing more than League 1 players. |
|
By:
Poor season but WE stop Spurs winning the league and no one else could beat them.
|

By:
Chelsea fans owe us.

By:
Shame 19 other home games wasn't played at same rate
Should of knew All them silly games I went too Befor season it never got any better got a lot work to do preseason That's for sure , got to get rid of Sacko, Carroll and fletcher Bring in few that can play every week for starters Need new centre back right back Goal keeper , two forwards 5 signings Few out the door £80 million imo Bootsale where be lucky to spend £30mil |
|
By:
Zabaleta seems a good signing, what are your thoughts on that?
|
|
By:
He's bound to be injured now he's come here!!! Hope im wrong though, hopefully we get a couple of seasons worth.
|
|
By:
It's a typical West Ham signing. A good player at the end of his career.
What we really need is a couple of decent front men as Carroll will not play so much and Ayew,Sakho and Calieri are not premiership players. |
|
By:
Sakho is not an EPL quality player.
Sorry mate I can't let that one slide. His injury record is not good and he may or may not have a poor attitude but to question his ability. Hmm that's a stretch. The reception he got when he came on against Everton suggests that your opinion is not shared by the vast majority of WHU fans. Not saying he is the future but I think credit should be given where credit is due. |
|
By:
Ross Barkley is your latest target.
|
|
By:
They need to perform consistently, ffaith. It's a hell of a long time since Sakho made a worthwhile contribution.
|
|
By:
I think we will have to agree to disagree on Sakho.
The Toffees came to our gaff recently. I thought that Barkley(and Lukaku)were in the pocket of James Collins most of the time. Which I thought was arkward for so-called top players. Barkley did not seem to have the creativity or/and desire to break down a packed defence. From what I can gather the Goodison faithful aren't entirely sold on the lad. If he can't do it consistently in his home town not sure he will do it in London. Anyway the wage demands(if true) seem high. If he does come does that mean we will cash in on Lanzini?Or even a swap deal. Sorry not for me. I would have thought that Spurs would be a better fit. Still if any club can be mugged off paying over the odds for slightly above average players its WHU. |
|
By:
I would agree with you about Barkley though. For what he might cost us I'm sure better value could be had elsewhere.
Am I on my own in thinking Ashley Fletcher hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip so far? |
|
By:
When I see Fletcher come off the bench it doesn't fill me with confidence.
Don't get me wrong its not as bad as the awful knot i feel in my stomach whenever I saw or see Zaza, Calliari or Nodveldt in a WHU shirt but it's not far off frankly. Apparently at Man u he was rated better than Rashford. Well u could have fooled me with what I've seen so far. The other argument is that he is 'one for the future'. Rashford thru sheer bloody mindedness has forced his way into Mourinho s team. No easy task for a teenager. This bloke can't even get into WHU's team. There is even talk of him going out on loan. Still I'm a fairly cynical bloke and you seem quite positive Sparrow so I hope u r right. |
|
By:
Well let's hope we are both right with our positives concerning Sakho and Fletcher.

Hart, Zabeleta, Arnie and Hernandez. On paper all upgrades. They should ensure we finish mid table at least. Slight concern that we aren't tar getting younger hungrier players.
Balde was never going to come to us and we passed on Iheanacho. Wonder who will score more Hernandez or Iheanacho? |
|
By:
My money would be on Hernandez in the scoring stakes.

Hearing Liverpool might table
Big bid for lanzini if barc deals go thou Nightmare can't lose him , Can't replace him for starters No one about That would be major kick in happy sacks |
|
By:
Fletcher's gone to boro. Surprised they payed so much for him. Gibson's really backing Monk transfer wise.
Not Fletcher's biggest fan but he might be a slow burner (saw Kane on loan never thought he would make it big time). Only thought we would let Fletcher go out on loan. Hope his sale doesn't come back to bite us in the rear. I will take an interest in his development. |
|
By:
Fletcher was hardly given a chance by Bilic. Had he been given anything like the same game time as Callieri then we might have been able to judge him properly. Lanzini must not be sold unless he himself wants to leave.
|
|
By:
Didn't see anythink in fletcher myself
The bit air time as they say he got done Sweet fa ! Slow burner not so sure Out of that shower we had up top last season He didn't shine when asked ! If big club playing champions league want lanzini Won't to pay £40 + he be sold |

How much are Everton willing to pay
For Reid ??? Can't ross be part of the deal Reid sent off again tonight ![]() Friendly too |
|

West Ham look certain to reject any interest in Winston Reid with reports suggesting Everton are considering a £9million move for the central defender.
Everton are the second Merseyside club to be linked with a West Ham player of late, with Liverpool chasing playmaker Manuel Lanzini. Ronald Koeman's Toffees are said to be looking at New Zealand international Reid as cover for Ramiro Funes Mori, but West Ham are intent on keeping the 29-year-old at London Stadium as the 2017-18 Premier League season approaches. Liverpool are still reported to be interested in Argerntina international Lanzini should Barcelona be successful in prising Philippe Coutinho away from Anfield. READ MORE West Ham determined to keep Lanzini and will resist Liverpool approach But West Ham are determined to keep the 24-year-old playmaker as well, with the club cautious of sending out the wrong message having boosted morale and expectations by bringing in the likes of Javier Hernandez, Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic. |

By:
Andre Gray.
Gone to Watford for 18.5m. Feel we have dodged a bullet there. How long have we been trying to upgrade Carroll/Sakho? Must be about 3 years. Hernandez upgrade? yes. Don't think Gray would have been. The premium paid for some bang average english players is incredible 18.5 |
|
By:
Lemina to Soton. IMO
May turn out to be a shrewd buy. Looked useful when we played Juve in a pre season friendly. Race for 7th i think will be btw 1. Everton(weaker offensively IMO) 2. Leicester. Like the mix of kids(iheanacho, ndidi, Gray)and older heads. 3. Soton. Loads of decent players(Bertrand, Romeu, Gabbadiani etc) and 4. I think we have strengthened in attack. |
|
By:
We have been linked to William Carvalho.
I actually got goose bumps when I read that. Think early Song but better if u don't know him. Yeah prob. pie in the sky but a fella can dream can't he? |

I don't know about English players but 20.5 million for Ayew was plain ridiculous. |

Lanzini injury update
Lanzini is 50-50 to make his seasonal return at Southampton next weekend. The Hammers Argentine playmaker has been ruled out of the Sunday opener against Manchester United after injuring his knee in pre-season. But ClaretandHugh has learned this evening that it is not a serious problem as the scan carried out showed no issues and that once the inflammation has receded he will be ready to take his place on the field. We were told: “It’s really irritating because it’s not a major problem at all and we are really hoping that he will be ok for the match against Saints. He’s only on mild pain killers but it would be unwise to take the chance on Sunday.” However, there was good news for Slaven Bilic when it became clear that Winston Reid is certain to take his place at the back for the Old Trafford game. Slaven is expected to select his squad tomorrow and it will be interesting to see whether youngsters Declan Rice and Nathan Holland are included. |
|
By:
If West Ham keep Lanzini (and I think you will) and pull off The William Carvalho signing, on the back of all the confirmed ins/outs it will be the most impressive transfer window in the Prem.
In my very humble opinion of course. |
|
By:
Bottom
All to friendly with mour on sideline salv Same old same old poor middle field Needs addressing Joe hart is totally wank too |
|
By:
A dismal effort to say the least.
|
|
By:
For the first goal Zabaleta was in Utd's half when Obiang tried to find him.
He was on Bilic's side of the pitch. Why does he insist full backs cross the half way line at OT?? Arthur marking Lukaku for the second??? It's carnage. 64 goals conceded last year. How many this? |
|

Watched Match of the Day last night to hear their verdict on our poor performance and there was nothing. All they talked about was how wonderful Man Utd and Mourinho were and if it hadn't been for West Ham's name being on that screen they were stood in front of then you wouldn't have known who the other team was. You would have thought the bloody programme was going out on MUTV.
