Gambling Commission are the joke. Sunbets have got the publicity they wanted in spades and a few people made a few quid - no one lost.

Someone should tell GC that Betway are offering Douvan at 33/1 for the Champion Chase!

If it has been Corales that had laid the bet, they would be in court next week arguing that it was a pasty, not a pie.

What a joke... a Tinpot betting company as well... should be avoided after this fiasco.

They offer a novelty bet, to attract custom... it comes in, they cry foul to the gambling commission and now the keeper has been asked to resign by Sutton.

The Sutton manager was on SSN, sounded devastated, like he was mourning a loved one, no sense of perspective, he ate a pie. If The Sun are daft enough to offer such a bet on an event occuring involving a club at such a low level more fool them.

Sunbet are a rancid cowboy company and should be avoided at all costs...anyone who placed this pie eating bet will have to jump through many many hoops before (reluctantly) being paid out and i am speaking from bitter experience

If a company is so stupid they offer a market on a pie being eaten then they deserve to be taken to the cleaners.

More from Paul Doswell, manager of Sutton United...

"Wayne has paid a heavy price. It's one of the saddest stories in football today because he is a great character within this club. He is the President of the Community team, disabled teams and the women's team.

"We have done the right thing though.

"Unfortunately he didn't leave the board with any alternative - we've all been looked at as to whether we have had a bet.

"It's a depressing day for me in football but I can clarify none of the players had anything to do with this and if any players have had a bet they will suffer the same consequence as Wayne."

Because of an arrangement between the Sun and a 45 year old, 23 stone, fatso the biggest day of the football minnows lives has been sidelined as nothing more than a novelty act. Selfish and disrespectful, not that the Sun cares, they're receiving hundreds of thousands of publicity for a 5 figure payout.

If the GC want to investigate anything they should be investigating the fact that this market was even offered and the motivation behind it. It was essentially incitement and now the wrong person has been made fall guy.
