Won't happen, mate. We need a complete footballing culture change in this country, from top to bottom. That includes managers, administrators, broadcasters, media, coaches and fans. Fans are part of the problem too, they expect everyone to graft at the back and put a shift in, even the flair players whose sole focus should be attacking. This attitude needs to change. Players like Gascoigne were always viewed with suspicion in this country, seen as a luxury player. I think it's really sad when you think that someone like Messi would not have emerged in this country. He would have been discarded straight up, would not have even been given a chance. Unfortunately, coaches prefer massive lumps like Conor Wickham and others of that ilk. Couldn't agree more. |

this is the bit i dont get regards rooney he,s played for england and a top club under numerous so called top coaches
so lets say i was given the training for a week and the players listened to what i had to say, every time rooney played a floaty,sq 50,60 yd attempted passs out to the fullbacks, when the opposition had everyone behind the ball you,d stop training and say no wayne thats not what we,re trying to achieve but rooney just carrys on and seems really happy at his attempted pass,s not realising or not bothered thats exactly what the opposition want him to do,i really cant believe this is what fergie,jose,cappello,woy sam etc spent all week asking him to do |

Very disappointed with Allardyce's decision to let Rooney play where ever he likes. Does not sound like strong management and is not ever going to get England to the WC semis which should surely be the minimum the FA want.

I was all for Big Sam coming in, for the reasons mentioned above. I was flabbergasted with what i saw last night and with what i heard after the game.
I just don't get it. Every man and his dog could see the formation was wrong in the Euros, i have not heard any pundit, fan, ex pro or anyone who thinks Rooney should be playing a deep lying role spraying 40 yard diagonal balls around. Like i said earlier in the thread i'm starting to believe all of the conspiracy theories. Whatever you believe it certainly looks like things aren't going to change much, which is really depressing.  |

day one ,min one on training ground from any of the million coaches,managers in england,the opposition want to get 10 men behind the ball and want us to use our best players to play 50 ,60 yd passes to fullbacks so rule no 1 we dont do it ,get it capiche, not us we pay fat sam 3 million to tell rooney to do what he wants which 99% of the time is what the opposition manager wants,maybe its some cunning baldrick type plan to do away with opposition managers, like i say unfathomable why doesnt someone sit rooney,englands midfield down and show them the 100,s upon 100,s of attempted crosses walkers has either brayed into a defenders arse or into the crowd, on another point i presume when walkers braying the ball into a defender he,s aiming for an attacker or space in the box,why not try aiming for the defender in the 1st place on his track record when aiming to hit him 99% of the time he,ll miss him and end up putting it in the box by default, |

Walker is not a patch on Cline, Dier and Henderson should never, ever, be picked in the same side again (or in the first place in fact), sterling needs Pep to teach him how to play with a ball before we pick him again. But all the opinions in the world count for nothing when Rooney not only gets into the squad but gets to choose, ad hoc, where he wants to play. You couldn't make it up.

Rooney is like a general that 'leads' his men from the back rather than the front. Not out of cowardice but simply because he is well past his peak.
Still I don't blame Rooney. I blame his indulgers, his enablers. Men like Sam and Moyes prob. have an inferior complex in the present of Wazza. After all he is a multiple title winner, UCL winner, top England scorer, etc and they have won f-all. |

its annoying when managers,pundits etc go on about the lack of players when they cant even pick the best 11 in a formation from a choice of 15,raniere didnt scream about wanting more players last season,you can only play 11
