2.3 West Ham

So basically the market is saying West Ham and Bournemouth are equals though one finished 7th and the other 15th

This is no surprise though as last season the match odds market on here rated Bournemouth the 7th best team all the way ! They were actually odds on at home to WHU

Can only think some crazy Asian billionaire loves Bournemouth for some reason and has been forcing their odds down regardless of form etc .Could be quite profitabale opposing Bournemouth this season imo

I don't quite get the price either tobermory. More than happy to lay Bournemouth at well under 4.

Bournemouth have been tipped by Paddy Power Betfair PLC to be the new Leicester City.

If I wasn't a Cherries I would be glad to oppose
them at the present prices but getting a result
would suffice, hopefully a draw.

have west ham in my last man standing, had hull last week. betting wise i fancy wilson to score anytime today. Think he got hatrick against the hammers last season. horses for courses and all that..

Had Bournemouth to finish rock bottom before the season started, on paper they've made weak signings to the squad, two fringe Liverpool players and two players from England and France's second tier. That's Championship mentality buying like a Championship club, they should have gone for more quality and PL experience. Everyone around them looks much stronger. Would prefer it if 3 of the teams from the much further and much more run down derelict northern towns went down to spare Arsenal long distance travel but such is life.

absolutely mental prices. Have West Ham got 11 injuries or something ?  Crazy

West Ham played mid-week, for some reason a lot of Premier league teams struggle after a Thursday night game,

Ayew, Cresswell, Feghouli, Sakho and Lanzini are out, I think Kouyate is a doubt and I think there's news today Andy Carroll could be out for a while too,

So they could be missing quite a few, personally I'm not touching this, I got stung when Bournmouth gubbed them at the start of last season,

Bournmouth as others have mentioned, I think could struggle this year, but with the factors I mentioned above, I think there's enough doubt that it's not going to be so cut and dried for West Ham.

but its the start of the season, the whole midweek game argument gets completely reversed. It will help bring the players on, up to speed, up to match fitness, an advantage for the Hammers.

West Ham played a lot of reserves, Thursday, so I don't think that match is relevant

Carroll reportedly out for 6 weeks.
We've got a £40m strike force out for
ages.

Layed Cherries at 3.35. Greened up at 3.50  Will prob go higher but I'll take the green as it is.

I was just playing devils advocate as everyone was saying West Ham were a ridiculous price, as I say, I'm not on this game, I'm actually on Boro - Sunderland,

Interesting viewpoints though, Plat says the extra game will be a benefit, whereas JC says they played a lot of reserves so it's irrelevent as a lot of the team today didn't feature,

So regardless of fitness, would it be fair to say Bournemouth have had the better preparation for the game as West Ham have been disjointed with one eye on the additional fixture?

I'd say it's a lot of injuries for West Ham, Lanzini and Kouyate were key players for them last season, and losing most of your forward line won't help.

In West Ham's favour, it's a home game, Bilic I feel is more tactically astute than Howe, Payet will be in the team which is always a positive, and with so many injuries to the forward line it will probably force his hand to play Byram at full back, and move Antonio further up where he's far more of a threat (looked really good at times last season), and less of a liability.

I wouldn't want to be backing West Ham if they were closer to evens though, injuries and being early in the season when it's a bit of a cr@p shoot as there's no real form to go on, has put doubt in peoples mind, which is reflecting in the price.

I think it'll take a while for the Hammers to get used to that huge stadium so won't be rushing to back them until I see some evidence that they've settled.
But at the prices, the cherries are a must lay. Just too short.

This is a mad price on the Hammers to win their first league match at home in their new stadium, against a poor Bournemouth side.

Hope you're right Benny but looking at that line up couldn't possibly consider backing them myself..

West Ham: Adrian; Byram, Reid, Collins, Masuaku; Kouyate, Nordtveit, Noble; Tore, Valencia, Antonio.

Subs: Randolph, Obiang, Ogbonna, Fletcher, Calleri, Burke, Oxford.

Bournemouth: Boruc; Adam Smith, Francis, Steve Cook, Daniels; Fraser, Surman, Arter; Ibe, Callum Wilson, King.

Subs: Gosling, Ake, Afobe, Gradel, Brad Smith, Federici, Grabban.

It's a plus Kouyate made it, and as I mentioned earlier having Byram at full back and moving Antonio up, no Payet though, apparently he has a knock, can see them drifting a bit on this basis.

i think cheeries will struggle although they certainly had the measure of Ham last season winning this 3-4

odds can't simply be governed by league positions  ,it's a lot deeper than that  - and besides league positions are a dangerous game in themselves as they vary throughout the season

I'm assuming that the news on this filtered through at about midnight, hence the shift in from high 3s.  I've laid Bournemouth at 3.37 average and am happy enough at the moment.
