Baffled by how Klinsmann is so highly rated.

Did a decent job with Germany but that was 10 years ago and it turned out the players he had were much better than thought going into the tournament.

Was a Moyes level disaster at Bayern.

I keep hearing how he has done an amazing job with the USA but the highlight is making the Last 16 at the 2014 WC . Last 16 has been the US's typical WC level for well before he took over hasn't it ?

It's always going to be a shocking line up though isn't it. There is no world class English manager around, and no world class manager is going to want to manage England unless they are at the end of their career and just looking for a payday.

Guus Hiddink has an excellent track record in teaching the basics of possession, positioning and defending to lesser footballing nations.

“I wanted to do a real knock-your-socks-off interview for the FA, so I put together a PowerPoint which looked at every single detail,” he wrote in his autobiography. “There was nothing missing. Nobody but nobody was going to beat it. But then Brian Barwick, the chief executive, told me there were no PowerPoint facilities at the interview venue, so I had to print off hard copies for the panel. So much for the progressive FA.”

'Allardyce has benefited from a ringing endorsement from Sir Alex Ferguson during the two-week consultation process when the FA canvassed opinion from within the sport. Ferguson, a close ally of Allardyce, has spoken to David Gill, the FA’s vice-chairman and former Manchester United chief executive who is helping to conduct the search'

Fergie's mangerial recommendations so far....

1. Alex Mcleish for Adton Villa
2. David Moyes for Man United

Of those being mooted I think Sam is the best choice.

The USA were absolutely woeful in last years Concacaf Gold Cup.  Possibly the worst performances by a USA team in the history of that event.

Sam has been very consistent over a long period of time and he's strong enough mentally to deal with the pressure of the media.

just when you thought that England had reached rock bottom the F.A are about to prove the nation wrong. Sam Allardyce ...really!!!!!  I can only assume that this is because he wins the vast majority of games with his clubs in the last 6 weeks of the season as they fight for survival, may be a good omen leading into a major tournament that he is better in the summer months.  Oh how the rest of Britain pi$$ their self with this potential cracker....

Easy to forget that when Allardyce took over after Sunderland had played eight games last season, they were below even Villa in the League.

Allardyce improves bad teams, fast. He is just the man we need.

When: 11 Jul 16 19:57
He does well with the so called small clubs, however he has failed at the bigger ones...Newcastle and West Ham fans will tell you he is shiiit, he may suit Scotland, Northern Ireland or Malta but England, be serious.

There is simply no way this is rock bottom Luke. We've just seen rock bottom and his name is Roy f*cking Hodgson.

I think Allardyce will do Ok. Whatever way you look at it, he's a huge step up on the last halfwit.

and while we're at it all england managers since ramsey have been failures, some bigger failures than others. dont understand people having a go at allardyce ( as a sunderland fan hope we keep him ).

Think Sam may be nailed on now, for good or bad.  Can't see FA going German or for Eddie Howe due to relative lack of experience with the ego boys.  Would have liked Harry to have been given a chance but he's blotted his copybook with the men in suits.  Hoddle must be a no-no too.

We've left it far too late knowing that Hodgson was a dead man walking after disastrous competitions before even this one, and his contract about to expire.

FA should hang their heads in shame.  All decent managers were snapped up weeks before this fiasco began.  They should have sounded out the likes of Conte and Ancelotti months ago.  Poor form by the people who supposedly run our game.

Interviewer:

How do you see the England team progressing under your guidance Sam?

Allardyce:

I'm going to hit the big lad up front as soon as possible.

Interviewer:

Bearing that in mind Sam, what type of training regime will you adopt during your preparation?

Allardyce:

I'm going to hit the big lad up front as soon as possible.
