Palace 4 3 Liverpool. More important as we basically ended them as a force. Had Liverpool won they surely would have beaten Man U and got Ferguson sacked. Imagine that, a world without Sir Alex Ferguson. Unthinkable.

I'll offer as a major shock: Darlington 4 Chelsea 1 (aet) 4th round replay, 1958 At the time the game was played Darlington were 21st in Div 3 North, Chelsea 8th in Div One. I must admit I'd never heard of this one until someone fromThe Northern Echo tweeted about it at the weekend. |

Yesterdays wins for me .and i DO remember Coventry,Woking and Altrincham etc recently non league Luton beat top flight Norwich away,although a makeshift Norwich team. - so in terms of league difference that eclipses yesterday . But that doesn't account for a lot . I think most folks reasoning is that Chelsea are way beyond average Premier league ,material - they're like Premier league plus - also, the Chelsea team of today would wipe the floor with the old 70s Leeds side for example,possibly by 3 or 4-0 , teams are MUCH more professional now and sourced from wider afield ,whereas lower league teams are still working on pretty much the old framework . |
