Whatever happened to free speech.

If the highlander has a pop at people well so what..

He should realise that his hero Sean Connery ("actor" with one voice - whether James Bond or a Soviet Submarine Commander Whoops) live where most patriotic Scots do..

OUTSIDE OF SCOTLAND...

Sean Connery would still be delivering milk in Edinburgh if the English had not given him a Council flat in London and a job.

Sickens me how the English have given it all away and still get treated like the British Empire was something to be ashamed about....

So, just to be clear about all the abuse on this thread, I have been bumping this post to highlight that:

(1) high_lander has not only threatened fellow forumites with physical violence, but has also threatened to shoot any fellow Scots who disagree with his views including people on this forum AngryAngryAngry

(2) metaphor has been making highly abusive swearing racist posts, which the mods have thankfully removed, which is totally unacceptable behaviour in this day and age AngryAngryAngry

I have not spammed, bullied or abused anyone on this thread HappyHappyHappy

As you can see from their bullying, abusive and threatening posts, 'metaphor/high_lander' do not like their appalling behaviour to be exposed on this thread for all to see how low they have sunk LaughLaughLaugh

I am very sad to say this, but if 'metaphor/high_lander' are representative of the views of the people who want be a part of an independent Scotland, then I think it best that they leave the UK now CrazyCrazyCrazy

but make sure that you shut the door on your way out of the UK as YOU will not be allowed back in SadSadSad

given their complete lack of empathy with the UK, it would seem that 'metaphor/high_lander' are very new to these isles and are after whatever they can get CrazyCrazyCrazy

I can only guess that they have been attracted to come to our country on the basis that our benefits are soooooooo generous and that they have there out stretched hands even further hoping that they are given even more benefits if Scotland were an independent nation.

What have we become to attract this sort of benefit seeking migrant, such as 'metaphor/high_lander' to our shores?

Whilst Highlander seems at the extreme end there does seem to be a real unpleasant and aggressive tone adopted by the the majority of Yes voters that those who disagree with them are scared, traitors, cowards, lacking confidence, being hoodwinked, naive or of inferior intelligence.

If No does win I'd imagine their will be a real outbreak of vitriol from a lot of Yes voters at those who vote No.

Shrewd_dude - I completely agree with your post.

Sadly the No voters are cowed into submission by the aggression shown by the likes of 'metaphor/high_lander' in this VERY important decision that the good people of Scotland are now required to make.

Last year Scotland provided £800 more in tax per person that the UK average. This means Scotland would have been £8.3 billion better off as an independent country over the past 5 years. We could have spent that money investing in our economy with the same debt levels as the rest of the UK or saved it and had £8.3 billion less debt.

The oil in the North Sea is worth over £1 trillion. There are at least 15-24 billion barrels of oil remaining which will continue long into the 21st century. Over 90% of the tax revenue will go to an independent Scotland which can help to establish a national oil fund for future investment. Recently, Business for Scotland explained the potential for a West coast oil boom that is currently blocked by Westminster.

Betfair moderators, thank you very much in clinically removing all the very many posts made on this thread by 'metaphor/high_lander' relating to:

the 'metaphor/high_lander' threats of physical violence or to shoot fellow Scots and people on this forum who disagree with their views AngryAngryAngry

the 'metaphor/high_lander' highly abusive swearing racist posts which is totally unacceptable behaviour in this day and age AngryAngryAngry

and the large number of highly abusive personal attacks made by 'metaphor/high_lander' regarding other forumites AngryAngryAngry

It would seem that 'metaphor/high_lander' has now reverted to just talking out of his backside once again LaughLaughLaugh

I sincerely hope that 'metaphor/high_lander' has truly learned this lesson and will desist from further breaches of the forum rules, else the moderators will be surely be left with no other option to ban 'metaphor/high_lander' from this forum permanently GrinGrinGrin

I remain ready to take further action should 'metaphor/high_lander' step out of line and make further breaches of the forum rules CoolCoolCool

Scottish people should want to govern themselves regardless of the financial consequences.

It is unlikely that any UK Prime Minister will ever repeat the opportunity the Scots have on the 18th. They should take the opportunity with both hands.
By:

The Tories are in power in the UK, although the vast majority of Scots have chosen the opposition. The Scots are outnumbered ten to one, so whatever government the Scots will vote for in a UK General Election, it's highly unlikely that a Scottish Political Party will ever be part of a UK Government representing Scotland's needs. With the rising votes for the extremely right-wing UKIP in England, our goals towards a fair and harmonious society will diminish even further.

Vote No if you want the English to rule over us.

Vote YES to independence if you want Scotland to have a voice in her own affairs.

high_lander making stuff up, like Salmond!

The Tories aren't in power..it's a coalition government

Scotland has voted for the Labour party in all UK general elections since the 50's and has had the government it voted for on many occasions

Sir Ian Wood, said that Scots voters were being misled and influenced by highly inaccurate forecasts, false promises and misleading information. He made a plea for realism to take precedence over fantasy in the run-up to the most crucial ever vote for Scots.

“By basing our economy and therefore the future of our children's quality of life, public services and jobs on unrealistic recovery of reserves let alone unproven reserves is a huge gamble and the stakes are too high,” he said.
“The highly misleading and exaggerated claims around oil and gas give me cause for concern about where else in the case for independence there have been similar distortions, painting an overly-optimistic picture which is galvanising voters into making a decision we could all live to regret.”
He added: “As passions rise and hearts risk overtaking minds in the debate, it is vital that Scots are able to make their decision based on fact and not fantasy.”
