why is that footballers take every opportunity to act like they've been injured by an opponent, when they haven't?

needs clamping down on, the sport needs to define what is acceptable and punish those that don't maintain the standard

rapidly becoming a laughing stock

Klinsmann's orders must have been to kick everyone up in the air, have them use all their subs by half time.

I don't like him, but it's clear Ronaldo is a model professional and very fit. If he gets injured, it's not a niggle.

Btw, if Sturridge rolls around holding his face whilst the England players surround the ref than Godin goes and England are probably still just about in the tournament.  That's probably what Rooney was getting at.

Anyone remember Klinsmann's outrageous dive and ludicrous death roll to get Pedro Monzon sent off in the 1990 final?
Would be good karma if one of his players was dismissed following some Portuguese play-acting.

in my own sport, the International Federation were unhappy with some behaviour and other technical aspects so they changed the rules and the way they are enforced so that the sport lives up to the ideals

the result is, players modify their behaviour in a contest to avoid punishment and the sport accurately reflects it values in practice not on paper

football needs to do the same, saying 'it's part of the game' and 'we are professionals' does not cut it

the sport needs to stand for more than winning at any cost

No need to change the rules. Just get someone to enforce them more.

judorick - spot on. Viera's condoning of Muller's acting against Portugal last week was shameful.
