Lot of sense to that Darlo. Problem is, I can't see how we're suddenly going to become anything other than utterly average.     Italy aren't great either, though.

I don't really understand why we do these friendlies so close. England are always about intensity, if nothing else.    Why not just go out to Brazil a few weeks early and get used to the conditions.

Thanks a lot Sturridge - backed him anytime goalscorer plus first goalscorer and 1-0 ,2-0 in scorecast . If he had them two chances for Liverpool he'd have buried them Angry

I doubt it either, we're just not good enough. Never half been. Never will be. But I'll judge for real next week. I for one, know we're not winning the tournament, though I still think we'll get out of the group. Just.

A national disgrace and this must be the worst performance and result from an England team.Only a plane full of 22 new players and most importantly 1 new manager can save the day.

Hoddle bonkers.  Just bringing on Barkley in the second half won't be enough to unlock Italy. It wasn't enough to unlock Honduras today, so why would it be enough to unlock Italy??  (Even given the conditions and their effect on Old Man Pirlo.)

We need more movement across the field. Barkley should start, for me, but it's going to need more than just Barkley. The guy can't work miracles...

Whereas England still have half their 1966 WC winning squad.

Well, we might as well do!

At least it's not as bad as being hammered 7-1 by Hungary in the last match before the 1952 World Cup, Darlo!

Mind you, Hungary were virtually as good as Brazil then...

Roy complaining about the pitch. He'll be lucky if there's even a pitch to play on against Italy. My guess, the Brazilian FA will get Pele to lend them a green table-cloth on the night of the match..

Just posted this on Facebook....

The last time I was excited about an England team.........Euro 1996
....and I predict Hodgson will be pleased with it and come out with the usual rubbish about how it was really hot and we needed a run out, and they were a physical team blah, blah, blah, getting boring. Its obvious the players are technically not good enough and its going to be at least another generation (with a different football philosophy, like Spain did after being crap in the 80's) before we are anywhere near good enough.

England are so poor its embarrassing the only crumb of comfort is that Italy are not fairing much better themselves at the moment, more you think about it more it makes sense to stick with the South American teams early ie Brazil/Uruguay/Argentina and even Columbia could be good value in group C, I think a Uruguay even without Suarez would stuff that clueless England lot lets face it conditions favour them and they will have plenty of support in their own backyard, either way England will not be going much further if by some act of god they do get past the group because they can barely string 2 passes together.

Steven Gerrard claimed England's Young Lions are ready to take the World Cup by storm ahead of Saturday's final warm-up game against Honduras.

Laugh

At least he was right about the 'storm' bit. Maybe better suited to forecasting the weather than the outcome of football matches.

Woy described last night as an excellent performance.

Must rank up there with the worst performance and result I have seen from an England team against a 10 man very poor Honduras side.

Woy must go now or there is simply no point going to Brazil with nothing to offer.
